I'm not sure if your aware Tom but the original design of that TPN board was conceived by Merlin Gerin and included those isolation tabs. Schneider bought the product (or Merlin Gerin as a whole, I'm not sure) and made very minor changes. I'm not sure if they still do, but for a while after the acquisition, Schneider were branding the front of the MCB's but hadn't changed the tooling, so the side of the MCB's were still moulded with the name Merlin Gerin. Just a fun fact mate.

The power tags are a great idea. Long overdue. With them fitted you can see if a distribution circuit has any spare capacity, and do so from your office rather than having to go to the board with a clamp meter.

I am actually a little jealous. I was meant to install one of these and the supplier let me down so had to install an alternative. Always liked Schneider especially with earth bar at the top creates more space. The sliders have always been good means u can finish the board and walk away knowing clowns cant turn on. Great review

Mitsubishi and Merlin have been using the click in method , though we did find over heat and loosening of the grip after a few years on the Mitsubishi , so nothing new just put into one board by Schneider who i believe took most of those over ...also the data tags ..been using similar items for over a decade mostly with trend systems

The power tags look a much better solution than the so-called smart meters. The idea of having to drill holes and leaving metal swarf to fall into conductors is much less appealing; a leap backwards compared to knockouts.

Very basic review , so many configuration possibilities and all modular. Great kit ,72 ways with mccb incomer , load meter and power tag accumulator makes the board about 6 foot tall ! How have you metered the supply to the board ?

I just wanted to add in the UK i dont see ANY ALUMINUM crap in building wiring such as wire, cable lugs or busbars. I like that all the breakers BOLT IN. Ireally wish every panel in the us had bolt in breakers and copper busbars and even neutral bars like you do.

All the Merlin Gerin facts are true and the assembly was or still is in Warrington. Switching the isolation tabs is not done with your screwdriver but with a tool supplied in the board, it looks like a lemon and is mounted at the top of the isolation switches just below the earth bar

Happy they are adapting US-style boards. The EU stuff made zero sense to me. The Neutral on Rail is awesome! I am pretty sure Leviton has WiFi built into the breakers and monitoring.

Why do they switch the neutral? Where is the conduit on those meter tails? aka service entrance cables . Cant understand how they allow the use of miniature circuit breakers to protect branch circuits.. In the United states your service cables MUST BE IN CONDUIT not exposed .Branch circuits MUST be MOLDED CASE CIRCUIT BREAKERS. Hear we would use QO or QOB breakers for a 120/208 service. Il bet your working with 240/415 volts. If i used this panel you are installing on 120/208 in the us they would consider it very unsafe and make me tear it out. I think the UK is very reckless with electricity seeing all the exposed wires with no conduit, plastic consumer units that catch fire it make me angry at your government. In the United states i despise ROMEX,PLASTIC DEVICE BOXES, ALUMINUM WIRE/CABLE, BUSBARS. In residential settings. In Cook county IL YOU ROUGH IN THE WHOLE HOUSE ALL IN EMT STEEL CONDUIT. Im a licensed electrician.

Not an electrician, but I believe I know enough of the UK regulations to answer your questions: Not actually sure about the switching of the neutral. Our meter tails are double insulated, but additional protection is only needed for buried cables - The reason for additional protection when buried is because you cannot see where they are. The protection can be conduit and is either there to provide an earth so that it trips when you drive a nail through it, or to provide physical protection. Armored (SWA) cable is an option instead of conduit for buried cable, but not in this case as they are meter tails which must be double insulated singles in all cases to the best of my knowledge. We also have "safe zones" which define where cables are expected to be run within walls, defined by the switches and sockets that you can see on the surface. Any cables running outside of these zones must be run within conduit for the same reasons above. The focus is on showing where cables are so that you can avoid them. Yes this is a 415V / 230V installation, but remember that with the higher voltage comes lower currents. There's nothing wrong with MCBs and RCBOs in this application, the main isolator is rated to 125A per phase and it looks like the largest MCB he's used was 32A as far as I could see in the video. It looks like all of the exposed branch circuit wiring is using armored / SWA cables, although it's unfortunate that proper glands weren't used in this installation. Plastic consumer units have not been allowed in new installations for a while now, since 2016 I believe. We use metal now and the one shown in this video is no exception. What's wrong with busbars? These days they are all covered and you're going to get a far more reliable connection than looping a wire between each circuit breaker. Electrical safety is taken very seriously over here. We have fused 13A plugs, 13A plugs which prevent accidental touching of the conductors as you remove them, 13A sockets which are always shuttered, RCDs on everything with few exceptions (At least in a residential setting).

@@yngndrw. In the united states we must use molded case circuit breakers they are rated 10,000 AIC of fault current.Main breakers even in residential settings such as 100 ,200 amp are rated 22,000 AIC. In most single family US residential settings. You have a service drop overhead or a service lateral underground this first goes to the meter socket[ the meter is round and has 4 spades on the back] this plugs into the meter socket from the meter socket it hits the panel within 5 feet .Some meter sockets work like this you take off the cover lift the leaver to the right of the meter up this spreads the clamping jaws putting the meter socket in bypass mode with the main breaker opened you can safely put the leaver down. You just killed power to the panel. For your panel the meter would have 7 spades on the back 3 phase 4 wire wye. The meter socket would be the jaw clamping leaver bypass type in my area . From any meter socket in my area you would have 2 inch rigid metal conduit going out of the meter socket box to your 200 amp main breaker panel your main breaker would have to be ratted 22,000 AIC and sometimes even higher. If a breaker is rated 10,000 AIC and you have 22,000 AIC at that breaker ITS GOING TO EXPLODE AND DO VERY SERIOUS DAMAGE. This is why in the US we NEVER protect branch circuits with miniature circuit breakers like you show in this video. If i used your breaker box you show in your video in the United States the inspector would consider is as very dangerous and demand i use a panel containing molded case circuit breakers. I looked at your video and the main isolator is 4 pole which means your breaking the neural conductor which is a big no no hear in the us. In the Us starting 2020 code cycle the main breaker or a fused disconnect [isolator] must be on the outside as part of the meter socket [meter main] or mounted next to the meter so the fire department can cut the power to your burning building. Your double insulated meter tails in the Us would be a blatant code violation at the very minimum those would have to be a part of a multi conductor cable. In the installation in this video being 415 volts 277/480 volts in the US those tails would need to be in CONDUIT no exceptions. In the US the installation in this video would be considered VERY DANGEROUS and get red tagged instantly. I enjoy looking at electrical wiring in different countries this is very interesting to me. Since your part of Schneider look up SQUARE D QO load centers and Square D panelboards for the United states . The panelboards rated 277/280 have CURRENT LIMITING BRANCH BREAKERS from 15 amp on up all molded case. This stuff is WICKED check it out. I like Square D QO because the 15 amp breakers will instant at 150 amps on a short in one cycle .These things are WICKEDLY SAFE.

why do you bring 4 wires through one gland?! The glands are made to make a firebarrier between the fusebox and it's sorroundings. Bringing 4 wires thorugh a gland will leave airpockets as it is not circular!

@@paulb4423 so you are saying that the magnetic fields of each phase will cancel them out. Using a cable would have been a better choice. and still with one gland for the cable. The magnetic field working on this fusebox is negible due to the size of the current passing through the conductor. .
