I cry every time he sings this song. The words are so powerful. I never heard the original singer sing this. But he sings it amazingly.

I will always remember this audition. When I heard it sung by him I cried. I had lost my mom and felt so lost. But this audition helped me to let go of a lot pain. So thank you Josh for doing this audition.

Nice touch at 4:54 where Cheryl glances at Simon and immediately realises he needs more time to compose himself, so she tactfully goes first to let him gather his thoughts. Say what you want about her as a singer or even a judge, but Cheryl’s kindness and compassion can’t be faulted, she’s a nice woman. Poor Simon, we all like to call him ‘Mr Nasty’ but this audition proved he has a heart after all, he’s not as much of a cold and emotionless robot as you think.
