I overdosed on december 16th 2018 and went to jail for 5 months. Im 31 months into my sobriety from heroin. Found Tom's music after i got out. Since ive started listening to him, ive been able to stop my anti depressants and get off the vivitrol shot. I quit drinking finally. And ive never felt better. Im very grateful for Tom's music. And my support system.

Tom is a real one. I was addicted to heroin for over a decade. Finally kicked it over 5 years ago. Now I got a beautiful wife & my beautiful daughter turned 4 today. Own a nice house & make 6 figures. Never give up. You don't have to blow up as a rapper like Tom did. You can find your way. So many possibilities. If you're strugglin like this... Don't give up right b4 the miracle happens.

Thank you for the support, everyone. My heart goes out to everyone struggling with addiction, depression & other mental health issues. Very grateful for Tom. We need more artists like him. Truly independent, therefore he has the freedom to speak his mind & make the music he wants to make. He's got such a good head on his shoulders & is saying so many things that need to be said. This world would be a much better place if there were more role models like Tom & less like Cardi B Etc.

I felt the pain in his voice 100%! When I got off benzos last year I also deleted all of my contacts, lost a ridiculous amount of weight (that I couldn't even afford to lose as I was already thin), ended up in the hospital twice with them trying to put me back on the meds. But I overcame...still struggle here and there. WE DO REVOVER!!

This hit home for me. Monday I’m headed to a sober living facility leaving behind my 5 year old girl and beautiful fiancé because I constantly fall short every day to my addiction. It’s better to walk away to a rehab than be getting put out in a casket. Thank you Shaq

This song speaks volumes for those of us who have been in Tom McDonald's shoe's. I gave up alcohol cold turkey almost 3 years ago. It was the hardest thing that I have ever done. I had to quit because it was killing me. With each drink that I took it made the depression that much worse. I had to quit because I hid my habit from my wife and son. I promised myself and my family that I would never drink every again. The depression comes and goes in waves. I am thankful 🙏 that I gave it up. Every day is a struggle but I think of my wife and son and that keeps me sober. Tom MacDonald thank you for making this video much 💘.

quit drinking a week ago. i was pounding 12 packs and 30 packs every other day. That obviously caused alot of issues with my marriage and kids, i was really struggling this week and almost bought a case or bottle then tom dropped this song and it helped me push a little harder. I've not been hooked on nothing hard, but I get it. Anything can be motivating if not necessarily in the intended context. Maybe ask him to listen to music like this from a point of view that he CAN relate to... and not so literally. Also, other "artists" have exploited the addiction/depression piece to the degree that tracks like this one from Tom may not get the credit it richly deserves. ✌

I was addicted to opiates for 3 years and it was harder than I could have ever imagine to get off of them. And it’s a continuous struggle. I wish there was a way to make someone feel just an hour of withdrawals. I bet it would prevent some people becoming addicted and would help all the ignorant people who think quitting is just a choice you have to make understand what it really is.

Kratom was the only thing that helped me get through withdrawals it literally saved my life. Only wish I discovered it sooner. Also CBD oil, taken together these also helped cure my depression and anxiety.

This one had the past running around in my head when hearing it. I can relate to everything Tom is talking about on both sides. My addiction, as well as others. Some of those others died in their addiction. Me witnessing the death and destruction drugs caused others opened up my eyes. Everything Tom puts out I somehow can relate to it all. Whether he's doing something on addiction, politics, or addressing the haters, I always relate to what he's saying. Ppl who haven’t fought this battle will never understand and this song truly illustrates a, possibly the hardest, phase of the battle. You do get pass this phase but the length varies person to person. BUT IT. DOES. PASS. Trust me, it goes away. This is simply a view into one of the worst times tho. Great song Tom! I was so close to being an addict. So close. I was on my way. Never became physically dependent, but I was definitely acting like an addict. Lying, stealing, withdrawing from healthy habits, only caring about the next fix... I pawned a Gibson guitar that belonged to someone that supported me. So thankful that I was able to really feel the guilt after that and it started the change. I was able to step away. I was lucky. Incredibly. This can help give strength to so many. But you don’t need to be an addict to need to hear this song. It’s healing to others around it as well. The struggle is real, and it’s always. Some times are easier than others. Some are harder than others. It can be hard to see the family that walks with you, but we’re here. #HOG family 💕

This is one of my favourite music from Tom. We have to appreciate his work and everything because he is a person too he can be to most lowest point sometimes. Life is hard for all is a sacrifice that never stops, you have always to fight to be strong like you never been before and yea I know it’s hard I have been to my lowest point and I am still sometimes those days even that I don’t do drugs or drunk. Only limit is you. Life offers so many doors but it’s up to you which door to open. I love Tom and that is why he is my favourite artist. And I hope everyone is doing good and we are here for you. I legit almost cried when you said you were rooting for me Shaq. Im pretty tough, but u almost got me there with the water works. No one else has ever said that to me. And I lost the only people that would. "I'll either beat it or I won't".... My nephew, my niece, my brother, and two of my friends all didn't beat it in the last year. They're all gone. Song hits home waayyy too much. And today just happens to be the day my sister died too.... But cancer got her. And they tell me I might have it now too.... It's been a rough ass day. But thanks for rooting for us Shaq!! That actually really meant something to me.

I had to say goodbye to my dad this year he took his life in January because of his battle with addiction I’m not angry I just miss him I never judged him badly for his demons I was just there for him no matter what …I wish it could be different I wish he was still here… all I can do is say if anyone reading this is in that dark place people love you and need you, please don’t give up❤️

@@alphacat9302 exactly I have always said my parents taught me what not to be but idk what I would have done without my dad we didn’t see each other a lot but he taught me how to care and we talked all the time … it’s not gonna be the same without him… he wore his heart on his sleeve and showed me that it’s ok to hurt sometimes and I learned that if I numb my pain it will only take over it’s best to face it head on no matter how bad it hurts 😔 I will get threw this for him I know he’s still alive in my heart and In my memories ❤️🩹

I'm new to Tom. about 6 weeks. I'm 55yr 25sober,. I have listen to the 3.05 song about the torture about 80 times today. I have now built my Castle. I text the song lyrics to my mom. She knowing the struggles , she said brought tears but in a good way as its behind us... the funny was I sent the video and she at 88yr old said "he's not much to look at" talk to her on ph for almost hour and a half. Who hasn't been there on a Sunday morning looking for your car keys, wondering who is this person next to me, trying to piece shit together so you can have any idea of what what the hell happened praying to god for a cpl Advil and a Gatorade. Tom is taking about how some of the best times and some of the worst times are separated by a razor thin line, but in the end you have to chose you or the addiction.

Tom real talk, Don't look down motivated me and inspired me so much and it related so much with my addiction and mental health issues that you made me look inward and really helped me accept I need to change and face that fact. Don't look down has become a mantra for my therapy for PTSD and anxiety, and then you dropped this and I was there at 11k views. After I saw this, I literally cried, screamed, and threw away all the alcohol in my house. For the first time in 5 years I have faced the fear of withdrawals and the battle and I haven't had a drop. 5 years, every day. And I won't look down. God bless you Tom, thank you. Please keep doing what you're doing because you are actually helping save lives. Never stop! Fucking love you too Shaq! Mad respect to man.
