The dunks were nice, but literally not better than what we've seen before. The guy can jump from the freethrow line and windmill it, yet he went with 3 between the legs dunks. I was bored at the end :/ Look up The Air Up There, if you want to see the 540(360 reverse) done properly, because Oladipo barely got the ball in the rim, which takes away from the dunk entirely :/

i gotta say, i always thought vc had the best dunk ever w/ the 360 windmill. but every time i see Jason Richardson's btw the legs, it gets sweeter. its just amazing how much timing, speed, and hang time he had. just 100% the best. just gets better with age.

yes especially when jason had to go against desmond gliding btwn the legs just to win(which is number 8 BTW).. he had to reverse that and its harder not even seeing the rim.. so yes i give jason number 1 cause of what he was going up against..

I'm 60. I listened to the 70's ABA games on radio and watched the ABA games on Saturday's CBS station. Dr. J's foul line dunk in a ABA/NBA All Star game is the most, incredible basketball play I've ever seen ! When Erving played ABA basketball, it was the most incredible sports events in history ! All of his dunks were indescribable and freaky ! You had to see it ! I've seen nothing since to this day, and won't. You have no comprehension what you missed !

Great list, i would have changed the order on some of them but the whole top 40 was great. Happy to see you didn't really mind if they didn't succeed the dunk the first time for some of them because the difficulty on them can't be undervalued.

Good job Baldur. Everyone will always have their own opinions on what should or should not have made your list. I mostly agree although I would have put Steve Francis's double pump and also Fred Jones's extended horizontal dunk in there but still a good list.

Glad to see Derozan's showstopper high on your list. One of my favorites just for being so clean and stylish. Also, you made the right call with #1. It's miles ahead of VC's 350 windmill in terms of difficulty, and was also the contest sealing dunk that year

Vince Carter revolutionized the dunk contest. Victor and Lavine are great dunkers, but neither one of those guys are fucking with prime Vince when it comes to dunking. Not even Kobe, Lebron, nor Jordan can fuck with Vince when it comes to dunking all time.

This is a great list. Awesome recognition of old and new. One dunk is missing though. Steve Francis' final dunk in the infamous 2000 dunk comp. Reverse pump was NUTS. Other wise this is NICE.

the only dunks i don't agree is the vince carter elbow dunk (the originator) end up in lower ranks than the imitator blake griffin dunk.. no matter how he throw it to the board first or not.. i think the originator should have been higher.. anyway great videos!!

Thanks for the video. Good to see some J. Rich live. I'm guessing most of the posters are younger, especially the individual that said Lavine's dunks were better than Vince. I'm 48 and I know better. Imo, the best is Carter, Richardson, Nate Robinson especially for his size and Dwight especially for a 7 footer. Thanks also for the Stansbury love. Great video.

Number 5 = REVOLUTIONARY! This one should be THE DUNK! The best ever, no one did anything like that before Vince! Number 4 = Dwight needs good hang time but nothing WOOOW, not even top 5. His head goes over the rim, ok, but he's one of the tallest in the dunk contest. Number 3 = that's a badboy dunk, I don't like the swag of JR23 but it's unbelieavable dunk. Number 2 = great dunk, in that motion, the side he choose, the flow... Really one of the best ever. Number 1 = arguably the best ever, I personally like more the Carter dunk, but this one looks harder...

Number 16 should be number 1, it's exactly the same as Vince Carters dunk at number 2 except he also went between the legs..easily the best and most difficult dunk pulled off in NBA dunk contest history!

Cristian T. Vince Carter's alley windmill against 76er in pre season was about as high as Gerald Green's vertical wise, around 42", Green's head would be 2" higher because he's taller, but Vince's extension is way better, Green's extension was terrible.

I hope everyone notices that ALL THE GREATS of their time participated in the dunk contest and WON. It's just what you do if you are an ELITE NBA player. YOU go out and PROVE that you are the BEST at everything. ESPECIALLY something like the DUNK CONTEST when ALL EYES are on you. But LEBRON JAMES where is he at? It is completely PATHETIC that he has never been in one. ESPECIALLY after he made an announcement at a DUNK CONTEST that he would be in the DUNK CONTEST the following year. BUT what happened? He bitched out because of ONE REASON and ONE REASON only. The FEAR of LOSING. WHICH HE WOULD, because that guy YES HAS VERY POWERFUL DUNKS, but only 3 kinds of dunks in his arsonal

Jon Czyzyk So by your logic, Lebron James isn't considered one of THE GREATS and not an ELITE NBA player because he won't participate in the dunk contest? I feel like thats a bit of a hyperbolic assumption if you ask me. And should I also assume you are specifying Dunker's only because if you aren't, then you are also saying that tons of great non-dunking players aren't great (lots of PGs, etc). IF you are trying to specify dunking only players I still think its a bit harsh to say he is not one of the great dunkers but thats just what I think. Tracy Mcgrady was a great dunker and never won it. I just think singling out Lebron as not a great Dunker because of one resume flaw amongst his many spectacular things he has on it is too harsh to assume he is out of the question. I would like to add that I have no allegiance to any Lebron team or Lebron himself, I just felt your statement, was unclear and included many logical fallacies including oversimplification and a multitude of false deductions.

That's is not what I am saying at all. Steph Curry has entered 3 point contest though and in that case, Curry establishes that he is a real super star who is not afraid to "lose" or get "out performed" he comes out, does his thing and doesn't have an ounce of jitters in his blood because he is a true Champion. He won by the way last season in the 3 point contest. Lebron doesn't enter and WILL NEVER enter the dunk contest because he does not have the heart of a champion like the MJ's, Kobe's, Curry's ect. He's a superstar no doubt,and the best player in the league, BUT. He has a mode that could turn on that NONE of the REAL PAST OR PRESENT LEGENDARY CHAMPIONS, that mode is called BITCH MODE and he has turned that mode on a NUMBER of times, including NUMEROUS NBA CHAMPIONSHIPS and Playoffs.

The reason is both 2015 and 2016 have dunks that deserve a place in this list, including Aaron Gordon's under both legs, over the mascot, reverse, left hand, power dunk that I feel deserves to be ranked the #1 dunk of all-time!

GREAT list. Agree with most of the top 15. JRich vs. Mason was the best recent battle, and the best quality of dunks overall was the Blake Griffin/Ibaka/Mcgee/Derozan battle

Jason Richardson's between the legs in 2003 was just crazy!! A very difficult dunk for starters and he did itbon the first try!! Well deserved number one on this list!!!

I swear next year a nigga better do like a cartwheel backflip 360 or something because this year was pretty much as highlighted of a dunk contest ive ever seen, gonna be hard to beat that for years to come.

The only change I would make is the Carter Windmill #1 and J Rich's Dunk #2. Great job though man. Awesome video! Carter and J Rich are two of the best dunkers ever. Carter is the best though.

It's funny to hear the difference in the announcers from the Jordan/Wilkins dunks to the "present day" ones with Kenny, Reggie, and Charles. First of all, you don't see people jumping out of their seats for the older ones, and the analysis sounds like they just executed a triple Salchow at the Winter Olympics. Meanwhile, for the newer dunks, you hear Magic and Kenny just yelling "Woooooow!" over and over. Pretty funny.

I like how when chase budinger dunked over diddy and used his left hand kenny pointed it out....but when paul george did it hes like oh no big deal what he gain a half an inch

The birthday cake was dope and the Dwight Howard off the shot clock ally you Wow but my favorite was the alley oop two balls double rim dunk. But the white Howard Howards jump then dunk in one jump was insane
