I agree with what you're saying and I personally take the same approach as you when I'm working with less experienced fighters but also need to add something. After doing it for 13 years I gotta admit, getting my butt kicked by pros and them not holding back when I first started is what really helped me in the long run. It also reveals if you should be in this sport because if you get your butt kicked and tell yourself, "this isn't for me..." then maybe fighting just isn't for you. If you get your butt kicked and tell yourself, "I need to work on this, this, and that" and you stick with it, you're in the right sport and you have the potential to drastically improve in really short amount of time.

Yo when you're competing like this that goes out of the window ... The moment the cameras roll that ego shit kicks in. Niggas who box at gyms that train fighters would understand that you don't record sparring, and having mercy for someone trying to knock your block off is a recipe for disaster especially when y'all aren't training together and agreed to focus on skill vs aggression.

AGREE 100% !!! 1ST off if you were a boxer you would know a couple very important things...#1 being we wear head and mid section protection,#2 and this may not sound like a big deal to those who never boxed,when where sparring,whether it's me getting ready for a fight or me getting 1 of the guys from our camp ready for a fight we NEVER wear regulation ounce gloves...2 ounces may not sound like much when where talking about boxing gloves but to those who have experience know that a 2 ounce difference is huge !!! Nobody can tell me otherwise,I started boxing against good competition at the age of 12,and I'm now 42 and not 1 sparring session to get ready for a fight was about winning or losing,it was and always will be to spar against the guy in your camp who had a similar or just the closest style of fighting to the upcoming opponent. Don't take this next comment as disrespect towards any of you's,I'm in no way saying I was or am the toughest, strongest,fastest,or best to ever do it, because I'd be lying...but I was a Golden Gloves Champion 6 times in the state of NY and was on my way to be a top pro fighter, who was on his way to be a pretty dam good pro fighter who can also say if my mental wasn't as sharp as my hands,feet, speed,toughness I was not winning that fight,and once my Pop's,who was my coach my motivation,and my hero as a father never went upstate for 8 years,and myself turning to streets while he was gone and then found myself in Rikers Island for almost 4 years,this might be a totally different conversation...but I'm sure a lot of us had the talent for something special and then play the "would've,should've game" when we look back,but this is life and the man upstairs has a plan 4 all of us !!! the guy the Brazilian boxer was facing was kinda annoying. The dodges were impressive asf but u wanted to see an actual fight. Most of the time the non Brazilian boxer would dodge and then go for a bunch, he would miss too.
