I constantly qoute " ____ KILLED MY GRANDMA" to my wife about anything and she does the same. This movie will always be in my mind because of that scene alone.

Trolls isn’t terrible; it’s just unremarkable. I like how the movie looks like an arts and crafts project, but I lost interest when the whole “singing killed my grandma” thing came up.

Favorite part is that after Justin Timberlake explains how singing killed his grandma okay, the other colorful trolls start singing the EXACT song LOOKING DIRECTLY AT HIM

I wish I could click on this video for the first time again; just hearing that blood curdling scream without warning is comedy gold.

That infamous “because singing killed my grandma” really killed off all emotional investent on the movie. It would have been better delivered with something like “because singing brings us nothing but trouble”

Troll’s is such a middle finger to Inside Out. It tries to deny Inside Out’s message about comforting your emotions rather than ignoring them. Also FYI Nick, Joy Is better than Poppy because at least Joy has a powerful character arc

First time I watched this movie was with some friends and when Justin Timberlake said "Singing killed my grandma", I laughed so hard I had to leave for a few minutes to not interrupt the movie for them. I don't think I have ever laughed that hard at something before. It was perfect.

I hated the movie cause it bullied a sad, and potentially depressed, character to be happy like everyone else. Like me as a child who the hell was I the only one upset with this?!?!?!? Besides seeing an actual depressed character on the screen was so amazing! Cause like it gave me some sort of confirmation that everyone isn’t happy and people can be sad all the time but NOOOOO SAD PEOPLE DO NOT EXIST AND EVERYONE HAS TO BE HAPPY!!! Screw this movie man, screw it.

My literal best friend (or so I thought) made me watch this movie at like 2am on a ‘cid trip and I couldn’t last 5 min, she kept being like “no no this is such a good movie I love this movie and tripping to it” and I swear I was crawling in my skin that whole 5 minutes

my younger cousin made me watch this movie with her when it came out and at the end she said like "oh my GAWD that was so good!!! let's watch it again!". I mean, i ran away cause obviously i did, but i still laugh at the fact that at the part when the grey troll says "CAUSE SINGING KILLED MY GRANDMA, OKAY???" she looked at me in shock and said "that's so SAAAAD" and hugged me with a fake ass crying.

This feels like a return to form. The random rambling, the title, the thumbnail, the running gags, the ending monologue, the jokes, it all feels like classic 24 Frames of Nick. Well done, Nick. Well done.

Never forget that this movie did a cover of a Gorillaz song ._. Also in the deleted scenes the evil Bergen was supposed to sing an original villian song and they DELETED it!

In my opinion, Trolls: World Tour is way better than the original Trolls movie. It has the positive vibes the first movie was going for without shoving it down your throat the whole time, the plot was way more interesting than “u just gotta be happy!! :D” and actually uses the whole idea of the trolls being connected to music way better than making them sing pop covers every 5 minutes. Sure, it was undeniably made to sell merchandise, but I personally think it’s an actually enjoyable movie and hits the mark that the first one missed.

Fun fact: while watching this movie, I compulsively was going to bang my head against the wall from a part that was so corny, but I stopped when I realized my younger cousin was watching. I just rubbed the wall like I was cleaning a stain. She didn’t ever look at me the same.

Trolls is one of those movies during the point where Dreamworks basically felt like Illuminations 2. Also the girl burgen should’ve been voiced by Kristen Schaal.

I know you didn't mention it in the video but the part that pissed me off the most is when the guy is singing his song to cheer everyone up, he then confesses his love to the pink troll girl. I was like, um what? They've been mostly annoyed with each other almost the whole movie and then he says he loves her?! I know it's like an unwritten rule in movies that the main leads of the opposite sex always fall in love with each other but this getting stupid. You don't need chemistry or make sense plot wise, if you are a guy and she's a girl - you gotta end up together. The sequel even has a plot were the guy troll wants to confess his love even though he already did it in the first movie! So the scene was pointless to being with! I just so tired of the forced romance in every movie between the leads. Why can't a guy and girl ever just be friends?

I mean, it's a specific kind of musical, a jukebox musical. they intentionally use existing songs, lots of jukebox movies are out there, I don't really think its a marker for a less-good musical to go that route imo xD; I think they used to be more common when I was a kid though so it might be a nostalgia thing. (I also unironically like this movie, loll. damn toy selling corporate movie got me!)

If I had a nickel for every time the Trolls movies have features a song from one of my band fixations I’d have two. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice. Trolls came out when I was fixated on Gorillaz, Trolls world tour came out during my Daft Punk fixation, I’ll be stalked by dreamworks animation studios if they come out with a 3rd Trolls movie featuring music from Rob Zombie.

This is one of those movies that was ALMOST good. Something they could've done is have the happy trolls embrace toxic positivity where everything is colorfully and happy, and the depressed troll is told to just "smile" to assimilate with everyone else. Eventually they all experience a moment where they all feel hopeless and understand the depressed troll, and have an ending where the happy trolls accept that life isn't just "happy happy happy" and all emotions are valid.

I love the aesthetic of this movie. The textures are on another level.

I hate this movie solely because of its message. It shows happiness as the ultimate solution to every problem and that being sad is not okay. It tells kids to suppress every emotion that isn’t happiness and that doing so makes all of your problems go away. This movie is toxic positivity at its finest.
