Gotta say....well executed concept. I have two sets like this that I kind of thought about making into tool boxes, but your video really cemented that idea for me. Good job!

Your sandpaper double-stack drawer is so very nice - what a great design. Right now, I keep my sandpaper and shim material in color folders (like school folders) in a folder file box, but your setup allows you to take an inventory with one quick glance, which is superior. I found your video because I have some file cabinets that I'm looking to convert to tool boxes and I have always liked these "map" or "blueprint" boxes. I really enjoyed your video with your wit, technical talent, precision, and editing - - you got a new subscriber!

Great project! I use a couple file cabinets for tool storage too - circular saws, grinder, sanders, supplies, etc. Works well. Now if I see a flie cabinet like this one, I'll snap it up. Thanks for posting, and thumbs up!

They work well. And with how common and cheap the standard format ones are, I will definitely get a small wall of them when I move to a bigger shop. I have also been recommending them to friends for their workshop storage solutions.

Great idea, especially for the socket set/wrenches. Those boxes are so incredibly heavy to lift out every time you need one wrench!

Nice way to repurpose a blue print cabinet! I have several of the large Milwaukee cabinets and opted for the little red plastic boxes in dozens of sizes...expensive..but its organized

@@EbenisterieEloise the ones I used are from Schaller Corp., I started with an assortment of 2" tall boxes from their Ebay store and then ordered a bunch more direct from them in the sizes I wanted

Good tool storage can liberate a fair bit of space in a small shop! Mostly if you are a bit of a tool hoarder like me ;)

Salut Eloïse ! Merci pour toutes ces bonnes idées. Ca nous permet de voir un peu plus tes outils. Tu en as de très intéressants. Je pense en particulier au tour à métaux ! Il est beau et a l'air d'avoir apprécié ta restauration ! A cause du style industriel, les armoires et rangements métalliques en 2ème main sont plutôt cher, en Europe. C'est dommage pour nous ... Hâte de voir la prochaine vidéo sur le meuble ;)

Merci! Oui, le tour est vraiment génial, j'en suis très contente! Ici aussi ils sont souvent chers. Mais si tu regardes assez souvent, tu pourrais en trouver un à un bon prix. Mais les magasins de reventes vont charger comme 600$ minimum donc ca vaut vraiment pas la peine!

How well have the drawers held up to the weight? I'm about to do a similar setup and was curious about the weight capacity.

I think the box may have went a bit out if alignment, the panel gaps don't seem as even. But other then that all seems good. Still opens and closes just fine. And having a wooden frame around the cabinet would probably prevent this. I definitely wouldn't have done this if I payed full price for these cabinets cause I'm clearly really pushing it. But they are holding up good for now

@@EbenisterieEloise Thanks! I have one with lots of shallow drawers, so spread out maybe the weight won’t be too bad. I’m trying to get some deeper drawers as well to try out.

I actually have more than what's in the video. I think I was 5... I didn't deliberately purchase them, got them for free or in lots of used tools. But it's nice having many cause I can keep them around the shop and if I loose one I don't go looking for them. Plus I have one mitutoyo I keep calibrated and I have one I keep on the lathe with gets dropped a few times a month and is horribly out of calibration and some I keep around the shop randomly so they get dropped but not as often as the one on the lathe... it's a whole system aha
