The implication that Peter will make the classic red and blue suit to appear less scary and more friendly to his daughter is so wholesome. THAT’S the Peter Parker we all know and love.

Jonathan Hickman must've had a real laugh to himself having Peter in a black suit go against Shocker and having the words "one more day" in the story.

The worst thing the ultimate universe can do is bring back miles, the writers just got past trying to explain why hes in the 616 universe and pushing him into everthing to show hes actually from there now

They established that Peter had been pulling his punches way back in the Lee/Ditko era, when Peter was still growing and not as strong as he is now. He'd often have inner-monologues where he'd mention he was pulling his punches when fighting goons. He even had a boxing match with Flash Thompson where he worked out that he had to flick his wrist in order to throw a punch that wouldn't demolish him.

Seeing both Shocker and Peter quiping off of each other was actually pretty great and funny to see. Usually it was just Peter doing the quips, in a way you can kinda see Shocker teaching Peter how this villain/heroing life works and I love that.

The great things about this comic are Peter spending a month getting used to becoming Spider-Man; J. Jonah Jameson and Uncle Ben are talking to each other about J. Jonah drinking breakfast and coffee for 25 years, the appearance of Spider-Man, and the Daily Bugle; Peter facing Shocker; and Peter revealing his secret to his daughter May, causing her to make a drawing a him as Spider-Man to make sure that Peter will try and become a better hero as Spider-Man.

This universe, unlike the main continuity, will be different also because Peter's kids are normal kids without superpowers. When Peter had kids in other occasions/realities, he had been Spider-Man since his adolescence, thus his kids inherited his abilities. But here not only is he a naive beginner in his thirties, but he had his kids when he was still a normal human, so...this will make things more difficult for him and more interesting for the story. But it will give more meaningful moments like this one here with May.

I think it’s more accurate to say Peter pulling his punches is a restoration of old character traits rather than a recent addition. If I recall correctly in his fight(s) with hulk he usually makes reference to not needing to hold back, or hulk calls Spider-Man strong for a puny bug. There was also that early iconic scene where he literally finds the strength to lift an entire building off his back by shaking off his anxiety and self-doubt.

I find the concept of a villain breaking into a bank, and when they hero shows up they're just like "You know, now that I think about it, this is both something that I don't need to be doing and this is stupid, i'm out." to be funny.

The relaunch of the ultimate universe is starting off as it should like the original one did . With Peter Parker.

Another great issue so far. Amazing how the family element makes Peter Parker such a better character overall! Love that the idea for the red and blue design came from May in this story. Hope he doesn't get the 616 treatment and that this story will stick around for a good while without some multiversal event getting rid of it all.

When it comes to Miles, I think its better if down the line we get a miniseries called Ultimate Spider-Men, where we see Miles crossover to the new Ultimate Universe and meet 6160 Peter Parker, akin to the original Spider-Men miniseries by where the original 616 Peter Parker met Miles Morales before the latter transferred over to the main Marvel universe

We don't need Miles. He can stay in the 616 and us Peter fans can have the Spiderman we've wanted for two decades now, without attention taken away from him.

I learned Pete pulled punches in Maximum Carnage when he's getting piled on by crazed New Yorkers and kind of loses it. Carnage pushed him to the point of screaming "no mercy".

This is what marvels needed for a verrrrrryyyy long time. An adult spiderman as in a fully grown man with the powers we know and hopefully finally tapping into his full potential that we as we have seen now can be bone breaking. I hope we finally see this play out cus no one wants to see kid spidey anymore, we want full power spidey no holds barred

Seeing Pete get thrown across the city from Shocker is hilarious 😂 that’s one of my favorite things about Spider-Man just because he can dodge it and have spidey sense he can also just tank insane damage 😂 I love when Spider-Man just brushes off damage or attacks or uses them to increase his momentum is just awesome. But it’s funny when Peter just falls for that again and again but also May drawing a spider for her dad is so cute 🥺🫶🏻

My marriage in 1990 put an end to my comic reading and collecting. I know you're referencing current events in current comics, but I seem to remember a comic where Peter went to Reed Richards to ask him to help get rid of his powers. Reed straps him down to his underwear and places him in some kind of bacteria tank, and all of the other Fantastic Four team see him and can't believe what's going on. Fast forward to somehow the tank being broken (I believe by one of the Four) to help battle Firelord, a herald of Galactus. Peter is so pissed off that his treatment was destroyed that he single-handedly beat the crap out of Firelord. So much so, that the Fantastic Four were begging him to stop beating him out of fear that he'd kill him. THAT was pretty bad ass, and the first time I saw Spider-Man not hold back on his punches.

The shocker letterly gave him electro shock therapy 😂

Anytime I see One More Day mentioned in a Spiderman series, it ties back to the deal to erase his daughter (May) which I am fine with, but Peter is forever tied to those words with his kid in the conversation and his family. In this universe she determined the colors and pattern of his new suit the legacy goes to her vision. Maybe she won't inherit his powers now, as for Fisk what is his power here, he is a figurehead but, in his mind, and body he is till the King Pin, he is capable of drawing up a new version, planted at the top now he has to maintain it.

I'm guessing the Maker followed through on his plan for leaving a 'space' for the original Miles even though Miles turned him down. So we'll eventually get now-616 Miles crossing in as opposed to a new Ultimate-Miles.

People forget or don't realize how strong you'd have to be to yank even 100 pounds 5 stories up by arm power alone.

the "scorpion jaw" is very misunderstood. people assume peter is as strong as the thing or close to that, because gargan himself is already superhumanly strong. peter and scorpion are actually closely matched and have been since the beginning, in most encounters (sometimes writers like to make gargan stronger, and peter was definitely stronger during his "other" phase). what happened in the jaw issue is actually explained right there: the jaw was the only unarmored part of his face (and he didn't have the symbiote with him at the time). his skull was kept in place while his jaw was submitted to a very strong and sudden force. peter and gargan are as durable as they are strong, and have similar strength output. just like a regular person punching another could result in a a jaw fracture or displacement, the same is possible between them. the key factor was that awful armor design. that said, yes, peter pulls his punches when dealing with people he considers weaker than himself (or whose strength level he ignores) and i suspect that even when fighting similarly powered people he would not use full strength until he becomes enraged or if he finds they are actually stronger than him. he is that much of a pacifist

This run is pretty good so far

The idea of Spiderman pulling his punches is not new. In the classic comics happened at least three times that i remembered right now. The first time Spiderman met Iron Fist, when he help him with his nemesis, Steel Serpent, and Peter whine about how he is so used to pull his punches that he can not fight him right because he sees him like a normal human. Then when he ripp off one of the mechanical arms of Otto, and then apologies because sometimes he doesn´t control his own streght, and the last time when he thought Rhino know who was under his mask and was going to kill his friends and family. That time Peter destroyed Rhino and almost kill him with his bare hands.

Play the original games and it’s actually apart of the lore from Stan Lee that he pulls his punches. Like ps1 games

I don't think that Superior counts as the first time he was for sure holding back. Characters like Kane and Venom are some other characters that show you he was holding back. Also when he fought Morlun the first time it was gnarly he was definitely not holding back

Everyone forgetting already that Miles rejected the Maker in going to the new Ultimate universe? He's in the main Marvel universe. He may do a cameo one day, but he's not geared to be in the ultimate universe.
