Gil knows the truth. I’m a multimillionaire and my wife had an issue with my family, I still have to take care of my parents because they spent thousands of hours raising me…so did Kobe’s parents. He couldn’t do it without his parents who drove him to games, dropped him off, etc.

I am with Gil on this one. Kobe should have been able to support his wife and his parents even if they weren't seeing eye to eye. Kobe's dad is the reason Kobe developed into the player he did.

She has more money than she’ll ever need and regardless of how you felt about your in laws you can at least make sure they are straight. I respectfully disagree with Shannon on this one. Kobe's parents raised him, positioned him, and prepared him to become successful. Kobe was around NBA players and professional European players as a young child during his father's professional career. He benefitted greatly from his father's experience and guidance. In regards to money issues. Kobe made generational wealth type of money. It is sad that he allowed his parents to struggle financially. He was wealthy enough to retire his parents comfortably. In regards to the parents disagreeing with who he decided to be with. Kobe was 21 years old and the young lady was allegedly 17 years old at the time. I remember the report of them meeting while she was in high school and he was 21 years old in the NBA. That may have had something to do with the tension from the parents on both sides.

Kobe Bryant has addressed the issue with his parents and it's on video. Shannon and Gil, I think you should have looked at it more and mentioned what he said earlier in this podcast about offering to buy them a nice home and they said it wasn't good enough. Kobe bought his sister a home that she can maintain with her Dani and reported that sister and Vanessa are close. That came out of Kobe's mouth, not Vanessa's. Nobody knows what kind of relationship they had outside of them aside from the interviews he gave. And we also have to remember that all parents are not the same.

Vanessa's mom is much worse than Kobe's parents, and he bought her mom a million dollar home out of guilt. If I'm wealthy I'll treat my wife's family like family they're family, but I'm not going to treat them better than my own family.
