As a nurse , I understood everything you were saying. What it comes down to is those adhesions from her bariatric surgery caused the problem. Anytime you have abdominal surgery, you take the risk of adhesions,(scar tissue), developing. These adhesions can travel from your ovaries to your liver or anywhere they want. This is why one main reason after abdominal surgery they get you up and walking as quick as possible to keep those adhesions from forming. One lesson to be learned from this tragedy is if you feel something hurts and doesn't go away or keeps coming back or doesn't feel right , go to the ER or depending on the pain and frequency call your doctor right away. Thank you Scott for this information. If anything, look how hard she tried to make herself feel good with all the procedures she had. God Rest her Soul.

Back in the 80s I was a teenager and had my appendix removed. During the night I got up on my own to go to the bathroom and got caught coming back. The nurse flipped out that I should not have gotten up especially on my own. They didnt believe in walking around right away. How times have changed! 😀 Thats also a time when u could smoke in your rooms too lol

Please allow me to correct you Scott...the most common reason for the removal of ONE ovary, is indeed, an ovarian cyst. However, the most common reason for BOTH ovaries being removed (as in Lisa's case) is endometriosis...a disease of the female reproductive system which can cause severe pelvic pain. It should be noted, when a complete oophorectomy is performed, menopause will begin immediately...regardless of the woman's age.

Neither you nor any of us is qualified to speculate to determine what was the cause for bilateral oophorectomy. Her ovaries were gone well before she was gone. RIP. I met her briefly when she was touring - and she was pleasant, but just didn't seem happy. Despite all the money and fame - that branch of the Presley's didn't have happy lives. Gladys died at 46 - Elvis at 42 - Lisa at 54. Very sad.

EMT/Paramedic here, id like to shed some light on Metabolic acidosis. To clarify, it has nothing to do with the acid in your stomach. In simple terms, When you die or are in cardiac arrest, due to the lack of being able to breathe off carbon dioxide, your blood becomes very acidotic. It is in reference to the PH of the blood. It is a side effect of cardiac arrest. And she went into arrest multiple times, 3 times so I'm sure she was extremely acidotic. Return of spontaneous circulation (aka ROSC) is a term we use for restarting the heart. The paramedics were able to restart her heart at the house or in the ambulance but it stopped again at the hospital. They restarted it once in the hospital and implanted a defibrillator to shock it because it kept going into a vfib rhythm, which isnt a viable heart rhythm. Anyway, while i understand it, it can sound misleading to a lay person. its important to know the metabolic acidosis wasnt the cause of her arrest as much as it was a side effect. What it sounds like what happened is her ileum (part of her intestine) had its blood supply cut off due to the adhesions and twisting. That tissue went ischemic (died). When you have extensive tissus ischemia, toxins build up in your blood stream. It throws off your electrolyte balances, can start a really quick and intense infection response (sepsis), and can change the pH of your blood. Any of those things can trigger the heart to go into a unviable chaotic rhythm and cause cardiac arrest. Her bowel lost blood supply and eventually caused her heart to stop. Sadly, this was preventable, its so important for us to listen to our bodies. Unluck a sudden heart attack, she had the luxury of having warning signs for months that could have prevented this. She also had the money and access to the best doctors. It makes me sad that she saw her doctors for all the elective procedures she had (face lift, stomach stapling, breast enhancement or reduction, etc) and for her mental health but didn't see them for her ongoing abdominal pain, nausea, and weakness. We weren't in her shoes and can't say what her circumstances were but if anything comes from it, it should remind people to get help when they need it. Medical care is ongoing, frustrating at times, and sure... expensive but your life is worth it. Bless her, I hope she is at peace wherever she is now. Listen to your bodies. ❤️

I’ve had every test out there for my stomach and abdominal pain. They can’t find anything wrong with me. And I mean every test but I’m still in pain, they tell me it’s a spastic colon. My sister has some sort of stomach pain (she won’t tell me what?) but she’s all bloated, like she’s 9 mos. pregnant--her Dr can’t find anything wrong with her either. So sometimes it’s not the patients fault.
@js3617
@js3617 3 місяці тому
@sharoncerretani I'm sorry you're going through all that. I myself have had issues that doctors can't find the root cause of. But i def wasn't saying that every single medical issue is able to be discoverered (esp quickly) nor treatable. Nor that doctors and medical staff are super heroes. What I will reiterate is by listening to your body and not ignoring obvious problems, it can save your life. If you're in life threatening danger, your vitals signs will tell us most of the time and it usually leads to fast track access to things like advanced imaging and exploratory surgery. If you're not in life threatening danger, then you need to advocate for yourself and are stuck usually going the primary care through to a specialist route. That said, in my trained opinion and knowing how the ER works, if she sought medical attention sooner given her history of bariatric surgery and constipation issues (whether it was due to something else or opiate use..doesn't matter) the physicians would have ordered a ultrasound stat. Severe abdominal pain is taken seriously. A burst appendix, a blockage, and pancreatitis are the first things they would have looked for. They would have used imaging to look for structural abnormalities. They also could use radioactive imaging to look for blood flow. She had a lot of abdominal surgies with having her ovaries removed, her stomach reduced, and gallbladder removed. All those things put you at increased risk for scar tissue, they would have looked for this and odds are found the adhesions or the ischemia of the bowel that'd lead them to the adhesions. The fix? More surgery. Maybe she didn't want to be fixed and was over this life. Maybe she didn't seek medical attention due to scientology. Maybe the pain wasn't really THAT bad until it was "too late". Maybe she was in a mental health state that altered her from wanting to receive treatment like addiction, denial, or whatever. We won't know the answers. Alls I was trying to get across is that our bodies tend to tell us when something isn't right and we need to be our own advocates by listening to them and taking charge of our own medical care. Doctors are biological investigators. They use tools and assessment to determine what is wrong. Sometimes certain things are easier to figure our and treat than others. Lisa's life threatening ailments that killed her are on the "easier to find" spectrum. Some ppl say she didn't get checked out due to her scientology beliefs. I'm curious about that because she sought active treatment for her mental health struggles including addiction and depression. So why would scientology prevent her from the less stigmatizing or "benign" of the two? Anyway, I hope she is at peace now.
@pauline9580
@pauline9580 18 днів тому
Thank you for the clarification,I was slightly confused at the term....I must say that scar tissue is notoriously bad to see on standard scans etc and are only usually found at endoscopic surgery.She might have been told that it was infrequent symptom of bariatric surgery or if rumours are to believe a side effect of ozempic (nausea,stomach pain are common) so she may have thought it would pass untill it was too late.

Two things : OxyContin is an opioid . Opiods make the colon lazy . Definitely not recommended for someone who had bariatric surgery . #2 : Lisa had high blood sugars , insulin resistance. Was she a pre diabetic ? Acidosis is linked to diabetes 1 or 2. Was there a mention anywhere about Metformin? A drug used to control high blood sugars. At times people taking this drug have problems with their muscles . And the heart is a muscle … just saying .

She was on suboxone/buprenorphine so even if she continued using Oxycontin or any other prescription opiate, she would not have felt any relief from them at the time of her death. Buprenorphine blocks the receptors in the brain that would be triggered by opiates. Suboxone can cause constipation but that is much more common with methadone, another medication for the treatment of the same dependency.

One of the main causes of heart problems resulting in cardiac arrest is a twisted intestine. It is rare but not unknown. Thank you for sharing her autopsy. Lisa Marie certainly died too soon, what a sad life she had, losing her Dad so publicly, and having to live in the limelight (she didn't choose that). If part of my job was reading reports verbatim to my audience of tens or hundreds of thousands of people (in fact if I had to read in front of one person) I would read the report first off camera, highlight the words I wasn't 100% sure of the pronunciation, Google the pronunciation, note the phonetic spelling on the document, then read it again off camera. THEN I would turn the camera on. If my presentation had me stutter even once, I would keep repeating it until I got it right, then edit that part. This guy didn't do that bad of a job. But I see other channels that regulary butcher words without even bothering to Google the correct pronunciations or edit their videos. Sorry for the rant, but this is a pet peeve with me!

They knew he wouldn't make it, but they did the best they could - including a tape line around the bed! I came in the next morning and saw blue tape around the floor! It's like wtf, where did this come from! My family giggled and told me the family got a little goofy the night before and so one of the male nurses put the tape down as a restriction to (no trespass zone) It was funny and serious at the same time!

I have a history of Ileus. I can honestly say it was worse than child birth! It isn't just "lack of movement" it is where one's COMPLETE g.i. system suddenly goes paralyzed. Absolutely nothing leaves the stomach. You can't fart, poop, process water. Nothing. Now, with whatever is in your stomach just sitting there, gasses are created very fast and go nowhere. Hence, the severe distended belly. You feel like you will literally explode and the only thing that helps is walking, which encourages your g.i. system to "wake up". I've had it a few times. I have had several bowel surgeries and I learned from my surgeon that it is a risk of g.i. surgeries and once you have had it, you are more than likely to have it again. It truly is very aweful!

@amandarobb2856 I have crohn's and had five intestinal resections (where the small and large join), the first surgery was after a serious car accident where my intestines ruptured, followed br surgeries that were due to scar tissue at the site of the previous surgery, was followed by a crohn's flare up with ulcers and obstructions. The pain is more painful than child birth. For myself the pain came in waves, each wave building in more pain and some relief after explosive vomiting. I've been told by doctors and nurses I have a high tolerance to pain as I usually am off pain meds by day 2 after surgical resection. I was admitted to the hospital with twisted sigmoid colon in 2006 thankfully it straightened out on it's own,

Hi Scott-I really enjoy your autopsy videos (never thought I’d write that sentence in my life but here we are). So as someone in the healthcare field and as a person who has had two bowel obstructions, I found this video particularly scary. The pain from a bowel obstruction is unlike anything I had ever experienced before-in fact I’d rather be in unmedicated labor than ever go through that again! I feel sad for Ms. Presley-that was undoubtedly terrifying and agonizing. Her last years were laden with so much pain and despair. She evidently was not completely sober from opioids, though the Subutex would block the “high” one feels from a narcotic. I hope she is at peace and reunited with her beloved son at last.
@ondreacounts2556
@ondreacounts2556 3 місяці тому
Wrong Subutex does not block the affects of an opiate because it does not contain the opiate blocker Naloxone. Now Suboxone does. But not Subutex. Subutex was designed to have the opiate blocker in it for the use with pregnant women since Naloxone causes birth defects &/or premature birth or even death.

My family was just grateful he didn't die here, bcuz my family said we would have had to move. I had a nervous breakdown. My story is very sad 😔. I know constipation. I once has a backup all the way into my chest cavity and the Dr sent me home with one suppository and that was it. I am lucky I haven't died. I'm so sick of our medical system, the DEA. You have no idea what it's like to be in pain and how hard it is to function everyday with horrific pain. The Dea needs to let Dr's do what they think is best and just keep and eye on how much the Dr's give and make sure it follows with the individuals illnesses, and not treating us like a bunch of rat in a box and everyone gets the same amount of meds. I'm sick of it. 😢 😢 😭 😭 Walk in my shoes than see how you'd feel if not given meds with my illnesses. 😡 🤬 The DEA SUCKS. Our government is purposely killing us. If you think Covid was an accident your are blind. Our government circulated it. It's called population control. Now there's a new strain of Covid. If I can add some info...when my ex-wife passed away during covid, she had been taken to the hospital by our son when she became lethargic and confused. While in the E.R. she went into cardiac arrest. She was revived and intubated and admitted to ICU. For the next 3 days she crashed twice and was revived both times. Chest x-ray was cloudy and unclear. On the 4th day she crashed and as they attempted to revive her again, our kids were called and told to come to the hospital immediately. By the time they arrived she was pronounced dead. Even though she had died in a hospital, the cause of her death was still unknown so an autopsy was legally required. Only then did we find out she was riddled with cancer. If she had known about her illness, she told no one.

She NEVER needed weight loss surgery! I bet she got it after she had the twins, I am SURE she didn’t qualify in terms of having a BMI over 35, but doctors will do anything for celebrities and money. I think she had that “Presley weight mentality.” Elvis said when Pricilla was first pregnant that “women use pregnancy as an excuse to let themselves go.” She really ate apples and eggs, and prided herself on never needing to buy a single maternity outfit and only gaining 4lbs on the day she gave birth. Elvis LOVED southern food and would gain massive amounts of weight between tours, even when he was young and fit, then would always become addicted to diet pills and sweating it out in the sauna, but as he got older, his metabolism slowed down, he was on so many uppers and downers that they canceled each other out and in the very end his whole group of guys in the “Memphis Mafia” his friends and cousins who took care of him and were his “yes men” were like “the tour starts in two weeks, he’s still huge, and in denial, he won’t let his fans see him like this and the drugs are taking over, he doesn’t care about anything.” If ANYONE dare step up and try to say something along the lines of “E, don’t you think you need to slow down with the pills and start coming off, you have to perform!” They’d get fired on the spot. He knew he’d never make that tour as large as his weight ballooned too and the pills made him so foggy and in denial. He had so many “Elvis doctors” who just wanted a connection with him who were prescribing ANYTHING he wanted, but all his “Elvis doctors” weren’t really aware of how many he had on call that would rush to Graceland at 2am with whatever he wanted. I’ve read pretty much every book from every insider, and pretty much everyone lined up, but he was OBSESSED with weight, his dad Vernon constantly chided him about the large portions he ate day and night and it bothered him a great deal. So, I’m certain this was an issue with Lisa Marie, we never saw her pregnant with the twins because she went to London to live, but I am 100% certain with her tiny frame she never needed or qualified for any kind of weight loss surgery!

Last March I tried to ignore my abdominal pain and discomfort until I couldn't eat anything without doubling up and nothing was coming out not even with taking laxatives. I went to the ER and after tests and an MMR(?) I was told they needed to do an exploratory surgery and if the blockage was cancerous as they assumed it was they would take it out if that was possible. I'm 73 and feel lucky to have survived the surgery. It's been a really difficult time at first with some spontaneous bowel movements but gradually I've gotten better with more control over myself. Basically learning when and what to eat and what to avoid. They don't tell you it's possible to have a succession of blockages. I am terrified to think I may have another one with more removed until a bag has to be installed. RiP Lisa you dodged a painful, difficult, and embarrassing situation I wouldn't wish on anyone.

Let me just say I am a nurse and I HATE any kind of bariatric surgery. Please, if you are considering this surgery to lose weight, just DONT. I have had so many patients with complications from this surgery and have had several tell me they wished they never got this surgery, that it would have been better to be fat.

I just turn 60 and I’m so glad to be here after all the medical diagnoses and conditions I have. I’ve always had problems with constipation and in 2018 I was having p so I took a laxative along with my daily dose of stool softener. I finally went to the bathroom but it felt different they way it came out like it was emptying. My granddaughter who was about 5 came in the bathroom and asked was I ok. I wasn’t because my stomach started to hurt so bad I thought I was in labor. I texted my daughter-in-law and asked her to take me to the ER. I’m a retired nurse so I knew it was serious because I was nauseous as well so on the way out I grabbed a plastic bag. As soon as I asked we got around the corner I threw up and it was yellow bile color. Well after and abdominal CT I was told I had a bowel obstruction and needed surgery. I thank God He spared my life and I lived to tell my story. The story continues.. In 2021 when the world was opening back up after Covid my niece and I decided to go to Vegas for a week to celebrate her birthday. Everything was fine until the middle of the week when I was having stomach problems and couldn’t go to the bathroom again. When I’m constipated I can’t eat and nausea sets in as well so I didn’t eat much the night before we left. We had an early flight so I don’t eat at all but my niece and I did buy some snacks to eat later on our four hour flight. I tried to take a nap but the nausea woke me up next thing I know the Exorcist happened. I vomited profusely. My niece slept through it all. I asked the flight attendant for a barf bag and went a couple of times before the flight ended. I’m disabled so I had to wait on wheelchair assistance who had to stop a couple of times so I could throw up. As soon as I got my baggage and got on the shuttle which would be an hour and a half ride I called my other niece who lives with me to pick me up and take me straight to the hospital. The result was I had Ielus. I was in the hospital for five days. No bowel obstruction this time and I was grateful. The story about Lisa Marie brought back memories and I wish she would have seemed medical attention.

My mum spent 2 years telling doctors she didn't feel well and had low energy. They never sent her for a scan, x-ray, further tests etc. Etc. They just gave her B12 shots (!), antibiotics and pain pills. One christmas she was struggling to breath, she went via ambulance to the hospital, lung drained. Sent home. FFW a few weeks, breathing struggles again, lung drained for the second time, and that's when she was diagnosed with non small cell lung cancer, and a burst abcess in the right illia fossa. She died very quickly after diagnosis. It's sickening, heartbreaking and unforgivable that doctors really just don't think beyond the end of their own noses.

Interesting read: Destined to Die Young by Sally A. Hodel delves into medical conditions passed down through Elvis’ mother’s family that involved various organs including the bowel, liver, lungs, and kidneys. He also had severe megacolon which began during his childhood. Book explains his chronic insomnia which he struggled with throughout his lifetime and medications he took for that. It’s a sad story and explains his decline and the pressure he was under to support many extended family members all while he had debilitating health problems and pain. His autopsy revealed Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency which is an inherited condition causing lung and liver damage.

OMG! I was diagnosed with Alphagal1 about a month ago! Elvis had that?! I had never heard of it until the diagnosis. My diet is extremely limited! No fun! I can see bowel issues. With me it's sporadic eating habits, nothing balanced and regular. On top of this About 30 meds and supplements. Disabled in my 30's-40's with fibromyalgia (chronic muscle/joint pain and fatigue (with brain fog). I'm 71 and just learned of Alphagal1. Fibro pain and fatigue almost disappeared over night after diet began! Oxycodine was only med that gave some relief to fibro pain. Originally prescribed 6 per day at high mg many years of that. Present doctor is helping me to get off of all meds if possible and just this week my oxy which had been 4 a day with lower mg is now cut back to 3 a day. Many other meds I have are related to heart issue, breathing, thyroid, depression, water retention, prescribed vitamins, supplements are just a few issues. Last 8 mos tried new therapy for harmone/testosterone implants (had 2 implants in 8 mo). Had 2 replacement surgeries in past 3 yrs (knee and hip) which helped me cut smoking in half! Slow process. How did Elvis even sing with lung/liver condition? His manager pushed him to death too! Maybe Elvis would still be with us, and Lisa Marie if they had "retired" and had medical treatment and rest. They lived extremely high stress jobs/life styles-not always easy to change. Lots of high profile people pass away much too soon and we grieve those losses forever.
