Today I will make an unusual watch mechanism. There will be few gears in it, one of the gears will be with internal teeth. This is only the first part of the watch, I will soon make the second one. Enjoy!
************************************************************
Welcome to "W&M Levsha" channel. Here you will see manufacturing process of some interesting stuff, made of metal, wood/etc. Toys, souvenirs, complex and simple mechanisms, unusual gifts for boys and girls - all that things you will see in my videos. Of course, you can request your ideas and if possible I will realize it.
If you love DIY and If you are a creative person, this channel is for you!

There's actually a great deal of machining technique being shown here. Using a micro-lathe as a shaper for the gear cutting is (for the application) genius. The use of purpose machined jaws for fixturing the 2 main rings is something too many youtubers DON'T DO. This is worth watching again and again to see the "how do I make this" problems being solved.

IT would be incredibly valuable if they had narration instead of out of tune music playing in the background, explaining the what and whys.

@@NeriEngineering-oq6vh I really like this guy I've re-watched a number of his videos to glean whatever I can. What I find fascinating about guys like this is how much they get done with such small workshops.

Finally a competitor to click spring... since he’s too busy with his research paper, this guy will fill my need for small precision machining
@Alan_AB
@Alan_AB 2 роки тому
I agree. Only, Clickspring doesn't appear to use a CNC machine to cut out his parts.
@renaissanceman5847
@renaissanceman5847 2 роки тому
@@Alan_AB very true... though he does use computer aided design... you would think he would make the jump over to CNC.... something very relaxing and satisfying about small manual machining and his slow methodical approach.
@Alan_AB
@Alan_AB 2 роки тому
@@renaissanceman5847 What I like about Clickspring's channel is that he uses conventional tools to do the job. He presents it in such a way that the ordinary home hobbyist / DIY'er would try to do what he does. Everyone has their own handtools (or can buy them), but not everyone has access to the CNC stuff.

@mchagnon7

Going with the flow will produce A LOT of parts that don't fit each other. By the time you cut your first piece of metal, you're more than halfway done. Fortunately, all of his design work was done with a computer so that saved him quite a bit of time and math!

I would like to try my hand at designing and hopefully making one of these once I understand how it works, probably a while before I'll have the chance to use such equipment though, I'll practice designing in a 3D program, maybe after a few itterations get a 3D printer and learn to transfer files from other projects and print a prototype to see how the tolerances and reliability are - make sure I've really done the maths and that where I think the stress is too high for plastic I will see the wear I expect etc. etc. and that it fundamentally fits together before spending all the money on quality parts.

ATLHooligan no. Clever as in using ingenuity and the tools at hand rather than buying a dividing head and doing it in the mill, the way most machinists who own lathes actually cut gears. But probably not as clever as some snark insulting others for paying compliments.
