This rusty vise was a real challenge! I disassembled it with hammers, after that i restored all of the metal parts and gave them a nice new painting. I also made a new handle on the lathe! After reassembling this vise works perfectly fine again!

Thanks a lot! Yeah it’s pretty smart and easy to handle! But it’s not the best for bigger parts, as the operating dimensions are limited. Thanks! ❤️

Simply a genius. I love when somebody could take the high-quality items of yesterday that have been extremely neglected and refurbish them to store quality condition they deserve it and it takes a certain type of person to do this. This is heavy patients, heavy knowledge, and simply a ton of artistic skill. Always love to watch one of these videos

Nice job and appreciate your work 9:00 When you mill the vise to get a perfect surface, you should mill the base circle first in order to get a perfect reference base. Otherwise, even you make a perfect surface on the upper part, when you put the vise on the bench, these milled surface will be slanted.

I really enjoyed what you done with the slit screw in the back of the handle. The result was mind blowing! Also, WD-40 is not really that effective to lose rust bolts (better than nothing, for sure). I learned that acetone and automatic transmission oil make an excellent penetrating fluid. I also recommend that you apply it 24 prior, this allow the solution to penetrate (thanks to the low viscosity of automatic oil) and corrode the rust (thanks to acetone).

Dude, that vise is beautiful. Love the way you tightened up the tolerances and the super smooth operation when finished. Super nice restoration and great camera work too. Job well done sir. -May I suggest a spray or brush on 2 part epoxy primer? If not epoxy, then a high build spray on primer. It fills small defects and is sandable. It also prevents corrosion and helps the paint bond. - Again, job well done on the vise restoration.

Wow! Incredible transformation! It looked like it sat on the bottom of a pond for many years, now it is beautiful again.

Good work . You're also the only person I've even seen to use green hammerite. Suits it though 👌

this mesmerizing to watch the transformation from gunk to beautiful. I would have never attempted to restore this one, glad you were able to do a magnificent job. Love the contrast between the polished parts and the rough boidy.

Restorers can always get something cheap. They buy something not working and rusted, they restore it, and they can use it :D

Amazing work and a very handy tool with many stories behind it saved from a scrap yard! Have you tried an impact driver for the stuck screws in the jaws? I love mine and use it often to break rusty screws loose in automotive applications, keep up the great work and amazing content!!
