He was certainly talented enough to pull it off, and would likely have many more slams if he dictated play more. Still a magnificent career that he can be proud of.

I appreciate Murray's absence of arrogant triumph after winning a great rally. Some champions wear their laurels better than others.

The thing that made Andy great is also what destroyed his body. He was the best mover on tour. Nobody was faster. But ultimately all that incredible movement damaged his skeletal frame.

Verdasco had the opportunity to cut it off at the net a couple of times, but he stayed on the baseline. He eventually got passed off a good shot from Murray, but he should have been more proactive.
