As a machinist "The E-Stop is not working" might be the most terrifying thing I've ever heard.

Something so incredibly poetic about the surfboard going for it's last ride, absolutely ripping waves in that blender. RIP, overwhelmingly Aussie surfboard. You were a legend.

As someone who works with heavy machinery and VFD/VSD's, I felt Herron's line "E-stop didn't turn it off, E-Stop has to turn it off!" in my bones.

Props to whoever’s idea it was to make a giant blender because this vid was absolutely incredible. Also, when a giant machine with blades overheats and the EMERGENCY STOP DOESN’T STOP IT… I’d be freaking out too😅

1:04 I love the surprise in the "It's still going!" Most of the stuff they do is a blink-and-you-miss-it kind of thing, so to have something that is self contained and just keeps going until you stop it must be quite the change for them. It's also terrifying and feels like they're trying to win a Darwin Award or something.

On the one hand, this was an epic video. On the other, I do think you need to upgrade your safety procedures when working with this kind of heavy machinery. You seem to be in need of a few more failsafes!

e-stop should cut power to the whole thing, and a reset button should be needed after disengaging the e-stop in this case I would make that without electronics, purly with buttons, contactors (retails) and so... :)

As someone who used to work in a millwork and cabinet making shop..I've NEVER heard a more terrifying set of words than "the e-stop isn't working"

That could have gone so very very wrong. I'm sure you'll figure out why the estop failed and fix that, but I hope you also beef up the failure mode and effects analysis portion of your engineering, as well as taking additional steps to make sure everyone knows where all the e-stops and any other safety devices are.

I think the one thing this channel has taught me more than anything is that bowling balls are not nearly as tough as I thought they were

3:20 I think you should keep tat plug right next to the entrance of your bunker so you can unplug it at any moment.

A large tarp under you giant messes will help clean up, they even make the nice ones with fold up sides to trap everything including liquids

Wow, the surfboard had buoyancy against the blender blades. Can you imagine riding that? I wonder if this channel gives anyone nightmares.

E-stop should be wired with two normally closed contacts in series to avoid situations like this. It would take an engineering analysis to determine whether it should be connected to a Safe Torque Off terminal on the VSD, or if it should just completely cut the power by means of dual contactors also wired in series.

One of the BEST videos you guys have ever done-though a bit of danger always keeps things interesting too!!!! Smoke was probably coming from the belts connecting motor/blender. Smoke from generator just happens when diesel generators are operating near/over their limit.

3:39 This makes me wonder (having watched to the end of the video). When Gaunson was standing inside the blender (only on this channel does that make sense), was the power physically disconnected? I sure hope so. We saw on the monitor the “Disconnected Disconnected Disconnected”, but was the power disconnected via a software program? If by software, please change that to the power being physically disconnected. Additionally, the person who did eventually turn off the generator shouldn’t have had to leave the relative safety of the shipping container to disconnect the generator. Gaunson apparently didn’t even know that there was an e-stop on the generator until everything hit the fan (or hit the blender, in this case). Gaunson (and everyone else there) should have known that there was an e-stop on the generator before filming began. Before starting, have a short walk-around with everybody so everyone knows where the e-stops and whatnot are. I’m not an expert on best practices for safety involving what could be the world’s largest blender, lol. I’m not an expert on safety in general, lol. I’m just some random stupid-idiot in your comments section. But I’m sure there is a very qualified person in Perth that you can consult with. Someone with industrial safety experience or whatnot. Hopefully there was (/will be) a safety review after everything that happened this video. Nobody was hurt, but maybe take this as a learning opportunity and review some safety procedures. Many of the things done on the channel are inherently dangerous (impossible to eliminate all danger), but small changes can be done to make things less dangerous.
