Theo and Bee gave up their busy city lifestyles in 2014 to explore alternative living, and have lived in vans and boats since then without looking back! Along with their cat Ginjey Bear they have been driving around the world in their self converted Sprinter van. However, when the global pandemic hit they began converting their abandoned stone barn in Central Portugal to turn into a wonderful tiny stone cottage. Along the way, they have rescued a playful cat called Furrnando and have a wonderful flock of Chickens!

As a mum I had a very rough time almost experiencing the worst last night. Today when I woke up I was greeted with your lovely smiles the animals, cheerfulness, the wildflowers. Everything. Hi Theo, Before retirement I was in charge of the maintenance of an American Air Base in Germany and we also had problems with overheating grounds maintenance equipment. The secret is to use comressed air to blow out the dust and grass seeds that settle in the veins of the radiator et the end of each day. As long as the operators did that we had no problems, but if they skipped even one day it would be obvious on the next day that their machines overheated. Now that you have a compressor, I strongly recommend you following this practise. Best of luck and keep on making your Vlogs. I love watching and following your progress. John

Yes! And in addition, install fabric mosquito screen around the front of the radiator and air intake filter. I own four similar kubota tractor. They are longevity brutes if you MacGyver the few quirks they have!

@@brianasamuels Hi Brian. Great idea with the mosquito screening. I never thought of that. (Must have been my Homer Simpson reasoning powers kicked in). Theo, please don't think we are being agressively picky, but there are a lot of us out here who want to see you and Bea succeed in this and want to offer tips based on our past experiences (both successes and failures).

Also use coolant, not water. They have higher boiling point. Check the manual of your kubota

I would recommend sheep instead of goats, sheep are ground feeders and leave the trees alone, the goats will eat away the trees faster than the grass.

@@ricardocarvalho838 it's not just grass he was clearing. Hadn't realised people use sheep to clear land to reduce fire risk. Goats are used in many places. Yes any trees you don't want the goats to decimate will need protected but not hard to do. They are getting goats in case you don't know.

Goats would eat their fruit trees and the fruit. It only took them 2-3 days. I'm kinda sad about all the pretty meadow flowers being cut down before they could go to seed, but safety first. Take care!

Our field was full of stones and rocks... over the last few years as we mow, walk or play with the dogs, if we see a stone we throw them into the boundary fence... we now have a fairly clear field and a mini stone wall. Makes a massive difference to maintaining and enjoying the land 👍

Isn't it just great when a 'chore' is something that you enjoy so much! I used to love mowing my half-acre; it gives one instant gratification seeing the comparison from unmowed vs. mowed! I can't mow any more, and actually miss that hour of fun!

I am sooooo jealous of the orange trees. We have friends in Florida, I told them the same. They looked at me and said, you guys have apple trees in Pennsylvania We would kill for an apple tree. Your Tiny Home is going to be beautiful. I love the wood against the stone. I know it is going to be fabulous! I love both of you so much. Yes, after the massive fires in 2013 on the Tasman Peninsula it is now law all over Tasmania to clear the land, with specific distances set round buildings, fences, gates etc. Even us city dwellers have to follow a set of guidelines - all backed up by insurance companies.

Your land is so gorgeous, all the wildflowers, especially the gorgeous lavender blooms. The orange trees, the figs, the grapevines, you are in a little piece of heaven. I could not believe how much cutting you did with the tractor, what a job. But anything that will keep your property safe is what needs to be done. Here in Arizona we have also hit fire season and it looks like it is going to be another bad one. We are in the midst of a 10 year drought so it is very dangerous. Our poor forests and deserts are so dry. Congratulations on your work horse of a truck, you take good care of him and he will be good to you😂. I know it is a lot of work for Bea, but thank you for the extra share on Wednesday❤️❤️❤️❤️

My husband and I both walked across hot coals about 25 years ago at an Tony Robins Conference. We didn't feel a thing. You have to put yourself in the right mindset and walk steadily and briskly. We didn't have any burns. Have a bucket of water to step into after. It's really empowering! X

Our little "Kuba" gets air blocked mowing the horse pastures and we have to watch that too. It's 10 years old and so useful for mowing, moving stuff in the bucket, turning the manure pile, dragging the arena. Couldn't do without it!

Your property is soooo beautiful and your barn conversion fits in so well with the surroundings. You are both such hard workers it was nice to see you kick back and relax with a home made pizza!!!!! Beautiful land...well maintained.....stunning wood in the barn!!!!!!! 👍👍👍

Your goats will help with this clearing. You might also consider using a portable electric fence camp to move your goats to different sections to clear for you, so much easier and less impact than having them only in your orchard. :)
