I like the end "each habits hooks into another habits and create a chain of habits". It sums up really well the programmer life and mentally here. At the end if you want to be a developer yourself be prepared to act your life as actual code running like a foreach loop. Kind of funny to say like that but it's kind of true in a way. Programming is also about optimizing stuff so in the end you're trying to optimize your life as well.

I 100% support the 16/8 fast. I went from 270 lbs down to a comfortable 190ish (190kg down to 86kg). I tried just fasting first and taking small walks. The walks became longer and longer. Then I started doing pushups each walk in sets of 10 to get my heart pumping. I walked as fast as I possibly could to keep my heart rate up but walking wasn't enough so every time I would feel myself recover, I'd immediately do another 10 pushups. I got to 100 pushups per 2 mile walk and then started jogging the same route and doing pushups in predetermined spots on my route. I started jogging longer and now I'm up to doing my routine twice a day with a total of 8 miles jogging and 400-500 pushups of different styles (diamond, wide, etc.). Never went to the gym during my entire weight loss journey and I feel great. I love my body and can actually take off my shirt without complete embarrassment washing over me. Lost my beer keg gut, strengthened my core A LOT, and toned my muscles. I have broad shoulders so I'm absolutely blown away by how I look. I was always the fat kid from elementary school and stayed fat, miserable, and had no self confidence until I was 25 and decided to do something about it. I have my Dad to thank for all of this because he was a bodybuilder back in the day and when I told him I was nervous about getting a gym membership and going he told me about the pushup/walk/jog routine and said I didn't need one if all I wanted to do was get in shape and lose my gut. You don't need a gym to lose weight!

"figuring out ways to do something that you don't really know how to do" was the best definition of programming I've heard so far...

You should read Atomic Habits by James Clear. He mentions what you call ‘habit hooking’, he calls it habit stacking. Lots of other useful methods for building habits in all areas of your life and reasons to why you should. It’s not a massive book and is easily laid out. Great audible listen too.

Your contents are always plain, simple & on point. It seems that you have added a bit of spice on it. I don't mind seeing it. But being straight and simple made you more distinct to me. I hope it stays close to it. You are awesome anyway though.

Hi Kalle, I am also a programmer, my current problem at the moment is how to motivate myself, how to concentrate better and do less procrastinate. If you have this common issue and you figure out how to solve this common issues that many programmers have right now would be nice to know how you solve this. Regards from Monterrey, Mx.

Kalle, please share your opinion. How difficult can it be for a non IT guy to start from Python at 28 if there's not any single experience in coding ? Which part of development in Python takes Math, knowledge of maths ? Is it a crucial thing if you want to achieve something in Python or not too much ? And does it make sense to go in Swift after Python? Maybe becoming a fullstack in those 2 langs ? Can Swift be a better choice if math is not a strong side ? Thanks a lot !

i'm 26 been doing programming for about 6 months now and it was very intimidating at first but its not super math heavy except for a few parts and you can use the web to gain information about that knowledge! go for it!!!! I'm thrilled I switched my career path and its not as difficult as it seems once you start to understanding the basics and the terminology

@@troyrandall5396 thanks for your reply! I went with Swift eventually and it’s about 6 months as step by step I dig into it. It’s not an easy thing for sure but with patience and constant training it sinks in. I hope we will both do well in coding, my friend ! Cheers!
