the "Black fox" is actually called a Silver fox, in russia they did an experiment where they selectively bread those types of foxes to ether be aggressive or tame and what ended up happening is they created a fox that acted exactly like a dog and even had flopy ears, twisty tails, different coat colors and an all round different breed of fox that tody is called a "Marbled fox" this type of fox is my absolute favorite type as you can have these ones as pets depending on where you live! :D Edit: +caitlyn phillips 's comment corrected me on a few things: Still called Siberian silvers apparently, they are so tame that they cannot survive in the wild and have to be cared for like pets...aka tamed, and the last one to quote them: "The marbled fox is a little different, it's a specific color-morph of the red fox, but the silver fox is also just a color-morph" shows what i get for simply watching a documentary XD

Actually they're still called Siberian silvers... I've done so much research. They're actually domesticated and would not survive in the wild on their own. The marbled fox is a little different, it's a specific color-morph of the red fox, but the silver fox is also just a color-morph

Todd was the fox's name and Copper was either a Walker or maybe a beagle but he wasn't a redbone. They stay solid red. He had the traditional "hunter" coat pattern. Redbones are called "red-bones" for a reason. Red to the bone.

I actually have a couple feral cats that come to our house to eat the cat food we put out. We also sometimes find possums and raccoons, as well as fox, every now and then. I don’t know how many we have, maybe two adults. After a while at around the beginning of September-October, we’ll hear the foxes looking for a mate (which sounds like a screaming child). We haven’t really had any problems with the foxes. Just dead rats and birds from the cats every now and then. The cats are clever enough to hide :3

The black fox is actually known by it’s unofficial name, Silver Fox, which is a type of a red fox that has more melanistic traits! Opposite of albinism. (Kinda like Niche!) they’re known for that silver “tip” on their tail. Beautiful variation of the red fox, and there is usually one born per 20 normal red foxes! However because of this, Silver foxes often get hunted down and killed a lot more, as their fur is a lot more valuable.

RowanWolf22 just a bit of a correction here. Silver foxes are a color-morph. They're not melanistic... They're found prolifically in Russia as they are naturally found there because their coats work better for camouflage in the Russian wilderness.

"The silver fox is a melanistic form of the red fox (Vulpes vulpes)" Straight from Wiki (: We studied these in Biology a few years ago, however you MIGHT be talking about a different species. Source: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silver_fox_(animal) They're found everywhere though! Seen quite a handful here in the UK, as they in fact are. At least, this specific species I'm talking about here. Their fur coats are incredibly valuable though.

Funny thing; I have a cat who spends a lot of his time outside IRL, and we also have 3 chickens. Our chickens are out during the day but kept safe at night. There are also a lot of foxes in my neighbourhood. But contrary to what you might think, my cat Barley has often been seen picking fights with foxes (and winning!) and yet he's afraid of the chickens. He won't even go near them. I don't think he understands concepts such as the food chain.

Depends on the type of artic fox. Your talking about a polar artic fox but thier are also a type of artic fox that stays white. It just gets a little bit of gray in summer.

Copper is a bloodhound mix in that movie. I have three redbones and his coloring is not what's typical for a redbone coonhound (which is a solid red coat). Bloodhounds have patterns. If he is part coonhound, then he'd probably be part walker (which also is patterned).

There’s grey mixing the red and the black on the foxes ears and paws so yeah that’s how it got grey!
