When Modified Sine Wave Just Won't Do

I have a modified sine wave inverter connected to my battery back-up. There are some items that a modified sine wave will just not do well, such as sensitive electronic or medical equipment. For these devices, I have created two small, cheap sub-systems that will protect this sensitive electronic equipment. Please watch how I set these small, cheap sub-systems up.

I run all my sensitive ele tronics off modified sine. Nothing has blow. Yet after several years. Only in grid failure scenarios. Sometimes for up to seven hours but, that's just a wii little home server. The rest only get like one hour of run time. A lot of APC UPS are modified sine even some of the "pro" units

For many years i ran laptops and some other sensitive electronics off mod sine wave with no problems. I have since upgraded to a pure sine wave inverter now tho.

Thank you for the video. I'm developing an off grid system here in rural part of Madeira, Portugal. I may follow your current design, i.e. mod-sine for dehumidifier, bread making machine, light tools (drills, grinder, 2 miniwashing machines, wash-spinning-machine, etc) and pure sine for more demanding devices (internet, home cinema). I would like to have the security of the diversified power delivery system, as well as maximum possible reduction in the amount of stand by current that large inverters draw - I will switch it on as required. The cheap pure-sine inverters often have constant fan, but i hope to convert them to 'on/off' operation by installing an internal thermo-switch an a relay. These electronic parts are really cheap, so i should be able to make some saving as well as get some experience from the task. Greetings ❤

I am looking for something similar to convert to pure sine wave. I need an inverter to convert my gas generator with modified sine wave 120v to DC 12 or 24v. Or just convert modified to pure 120v AC. Any suggestions?

Hello there, tryong to understand how modified sinewave will effect my gadgets. In your opinion what would happened to router and smart tvs if connected to a modified sinewave inverter for 2 or 3 hrs at time in the event of power outage?

I have run my router and computes off a modified sinewave, but not a smart TV so I don't know for sure. I would think it would be alright for a short period but keep an eye on the TV. Thanks for your comment.

I really enjoy the way you think when it comes to energy. I have a question, maybe two. It appears you have many things running on batter and solar, have you done the math to where you know how much you actually save on the electric bill? I can see those who do the thousands of dollar wholehome systems and sure, in the long run there is an economic benefit. Ive looked at that 500W inverter in Amazon at least 15 times😊. Btw, I did the beginners version of the HF 100W solar panel system with 4 12V35AH Batteries in parallel, haven't put a good load to test or push power to see the teue performance. Anyway, hello from south Florida, be well and keep making great videos.

I don't really do this solar thing with the intention of saving money. So I haven't done that study with the utility bill. I do what I do for power outages and self sufficiency. Thank you for your comment.

@@shoestringprep OK, thats valid. do you know if going beyond the 4 batteries that I have is worth the trouble? I think not, the only reason I did it is because I have multiple hernias that I must take care of so weight is an issue for me. But right now, the 4 batteries produce 140amps which I can use maybe 40 to 50 usable, I think thats enought for a few fans, a few lights, and chage the phones. Thats to real goal. Good day!
