As a kid I heard on many occasions “History Repeats Itself” and after hearing this I understand that in its clearest form today.

My sincere appreciation and respect to Prof Peterson for mentioning these events in Ukraine! My great-grandfather had fields and had been making 3500 liters of wine every year to sell. He also had cows, horses, etc. But then anti-kulaks came and grandpa has been sent to Siberia where he died. Of course everything he had (land, goods, animals, etc.) has been stolen in a "legal" way. When I was younger, I happened to go to the Rhwandan genocide museum, and I was SHOCKED that not only had this happened as recently as 1996, but that the story line was the oppressed killing their oppressor. I have never forgotten it.

This exactly what happened to my grandma. My great parents was considered kulaks because they owned a little store in the village. Was robbed arrested and send in Siberia to work in a coal mine, her mother was like 40 and she was around 7 or 8. Her dad was arrested and she never saw him again. Many families died from starvation there. My guess because she and her mom was small they managed to live on a little bit of ration. We recorded video of her telling the story. It is like 3 hour long interview, maybe I publish it one day.

Now we have two groups of people in society both claiming to be victims and oppressed by the other side. This can't end well. Personal responsibility, self improvement, and community building. We need to be strong to survive the flood.

I see all these things come to fruition within the last year. It is very unnerving!

As a Ukrainian who was born in the soviet union, I deeply appreciate that the professor raised the tragedy of Holodomor. This is one of the most awful catastrophes in human history, which was created artificially by russians, and caused millions of deaths, but there are so few people who know about it... just imagine starving to death in one of the most efficient agrarian countries such as Ukraine, because communists where forcibly take all food from your family that you raised on your own land.

My sister says we need to “re distribute the wealth” and that you “can’t be racist to white people”... never have I felt so much pity and resentment for my own kind...

All the Americans thinking nothing as bad as a genocide could happen to them should look at this and then at South Africa. And the worst part is it always goes both ways: where there's a Soviet Union, there's always a Germany in response to it too. If you go down, the whole world will follow, so stand for what's actually right everyone and stay safe.

Almost 12 years ago my father traveled to a very poor rural village of my country, Guatemala, to promote a business project that could gave a lot of job opportunities. After some days working a mob of peasents try to lynch him and his workers. Thank God, he was defended by a small group of villagers that fight with machetes for his life. Four years after the incident my father was visited in our house by a regretful peasent asking for forgiveness, asking if the business project can be retaken. He said that they were cheated by a NGO about the nature of the project, and that the NGO promised help and resources if they opposed the project. To make the story short, after the project was rejected by the angry mob the NGO didn't fulfill its promises and go away, leaving a village with 90% children malnourishment. So, if you donate to NGO or charities you have to be careful. A lot of NGO in 3rd world countries are held by socialist that only want to create hate and don't give a shit for neccesitated people. Be cautious.

I have several Kulaks in my family history - poor people. Some had their livelihood simply taken away, some were sent off to Siberia and left to die (though they survived). And it terrifies me to no end to see the parallels of what is happening in the West right now to what happened in Russia back then. It's like we're stuck in some sick loop, doomed to relive it. I keep trying to warn people in my life, but they shrug it off or think I'm exaggerating. I just hope enough people will wake up - otherwise the horror hasn't yet begun.

I see now why this professor was attacked. His teaching was too close to home, they knew his lessons were a threat to their BLM authoritarian movement.

As of Ukrainian heritage, I could tell my how my grandfather explained things that this is not a world that you want to live in. They fled their homeland during WW2 and came to America in search of a better life. People don't get that these ideas roll over countries like a wave and it's not something that you can just ignore. And in the end, all you have is corrupt individuals with all the power and money and everyone below them is worse off or dead.

I've heard a story from a guy, who was told it by hhis dad, about his great-grandfather (but I can't confirm if it was true of not, so, grain of salt, but based on what he told me, I belive it to be). The small village was located FAAAAR away from everyone else, it produced lumber, grain and a few minor things, the owner of the general store was the riches person around (but at least he wasn't a greedy person), he was the one who bought the things the village produced and once in a while, send a truck driver out into the wider world with the resources, and it came back with goods. Then one day, a group of people, wearing red armbands, came to the village and started preaching how terrible people with more money than yourself was, and so they got a bunch of the people in the village (mostly, like the example Peterson made, the "misserable drunks") turned against the store owner, it escalated into them hanging him as a "thief", and distributing his possesions, but a few months later, the village faced a problem, they were in need a lot of goods, that they normally bought at the general store, and none of them knew how or where to get them, outside the village (the family and employees of the store keeper had fled, and nobody wanted to go to and open a store, in a village where your neighbors would kill you and steal your stuff), this included things like medicine and gasoline, so at one point. The majority of the people in the village ended up packing their things and move, because they just couldn't live there any more, one of them included the great-grandpa, his family decided to travle west, so far west, that they ended up leaving the country, and he said that "the dumbest decision the village ever made (turning aginst the store owner), forced his family to make the the best decision ever (to leave the country), but he belived that had they not made the first, they would never had needed to make the second". How I understood it, it happened in the northwest part of Russia, around 1918-1920, and he travled west to the Scandinavian countries. The "victims" ended up killing, the one who was basicly their lifeline.

The same pattern happened in China 80 years ago. The similarity of Communists in Russia, China and now western world is the elitists (and intellectuals) look for a group of people who are socially or economically disadvantaged, and turn the group against the authority. It was never about helping the disadvantaged. It was about showing their superiority, seizing power, and achieving their utopia.

And this is the wisdom of the commandment that states: "Do not covet your fellow's house... and anything of your fellow." (And by "fellow" it refers to fellow man, not only a friend, family, or neighbor.) The Sages of Israel explained the aim of this law to prevent the very thing, which Dr. Peterson related regarding the Communists and their Kulak victims, that coveting can lead to robbery and even murder.

I wish we could clone him and have him teaching in every university.

My grandma's family went through this when she was 11-12. They weren't prosperous by any stretch of imagination. I doubt they even had a horse. They got saved from Siberia by a distant relative or something, but 3-4 years later there was this Famine and her father starved to death. She lived till 2004 and i honestly don't know anyone who had a harder life than her.

One of the subjects was The russian revolution, including the removal of kulaks, they just described it as those people having their land seized by the state/Stalin and moved on... Such bloody bias to not even mention the toll of that, like it's something okay to ignore.

This is what they used to teach in public schools. I learned this in the 8th grade, 40 years ago. What this lesson of world history teaches, is an understanding of citizen seperation. It leaves you as an individual to digest the standing of humanity, on a global level, and how such an atrocity can determine the fate of nations and the planet.

Peterson raised a *really* important point near the end. The fact that most of Soviet history is not popular knowledge is a really troubling thing. Our society exists in permanent contempt against the concept of the alt-right because we have incorporated the history of Nazi Germany and the events of WWII into our culture as an empirical defense mechanism against its reprisal. There's nothing wrong with that, since it actually works. The problem is that, since Marxist history is not as widespread, our societies are not as equipped to identify and weed out the potential for the alt-left as they would be to identify the potential for the alt-right. And that's weird, since the Soviets were about as bad as the Nazis, if not potentially worse, so it baffles me that only people within intellectual circles are the only ones who are aware of this, despite the information being as readily available as it is. I mean, can't we get our hands on the Manifesto quite easily this days? I've definitely seen it more in libraries and bookstores than Mein Kampf. Legit, try asking anybody about the Nazis. They will tell you with relative ease, because its *that* embedded in our culture. Now try asking about the Soviets. Weird, right?

Never forget the universal-goal is: "To live a happy life while allowing all others to do the same." All laws should support this goal and come from it. If not it is a bad law.

This is a powerful observation. Victimhood can suddenly creep up on an entire nation - all it takes is some particularly harsh economic times and suddenly nearly everyone feels like a victim. The dangerous collective Id monster that this may ultimately unleash is responsible for the most tragic periods of human history.

This short clip gave me perspectives for introspection. Extinguishing the fire of victimhood is important. You can get fired up sometimes and ruminations are never a good thing. Getting out of the hate circle jerk is hygienic.

When I was in high-school, we had a short little assignment where we had to find a subject to tell the class about as an end-of-the-year thing, using You-Tube. When I was my turn, I showed the class a short 5 minute documentary summary detailing the exact events that Jordan was telling his class about towards the end with the genocide. Everyone was speechless.

I remember going into the fields picking up wheat after the harvest. we had also all our lands taken by the communists in romania. they gave it back after 1990. stealing was so normal that it became part of the culture.

as a black man, i can attest to what he is saying. i see it in the politics and the society of leaders who push the victim message above and beyond where it should be pushed. yes there are problem and organised structured designed to oppress one race against another but this system has been designed in a way that makes us all victims and its in the sharing of person experience and finding that point of agreement that we will move on and grow as people, but by playing into the system do we only continue the suppression of each other... like MLK once said "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere" full quote “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. My wife and I found the ruins of the house of her grandparents and mother in the Ukraine. We spoke with two elderly Ukrainians who were children when Stalin starved the "wealthy" Kulak farmers and machine-gunned the German immigrant farmers. We spoke with a village official who confirmed this. Peterson is correct.
