While I want to agree, I can't help but remember watching a video the other day, of a sea lion ripping a seagull's head off for stealing its food lol.

Most of these animals are domesticated, with access to food, water and shelter survival insticts are more suppressed in animals due to lack of need for competing in a nature. Without humans and human resources they would either turn back to their full instincts or go extinct. Good side of life in animals formed mostly because we wanted to domesticate the nature.

That isn't true. Bear attacks can do it as well. Starvation can do it. Nature is, most likely, the source of the trauma that turns into evil.

I got a dog from a shelter who had been abused and he was so friendly towards other dogs.

When I was a kid, my cat would disappear for a week or so and come back with a girlfriend. My mother would wake up for work at 3:30 am and the two would be sitting in the kitchen waiting to be fed (we had a doggy door). She started buying expensive cans of gourmet cat food for when he brought home a date. After being fed, she'd leave and we'd never see her again. It was a different cat every time.

These kinds of interactions are common between domesticated animals, and like in this video, between domesticated and wild animals, but I wonder how often interspecies friendships occur between wild animals. Do predatory animals befriend animals they would normally consider a meal? If a cheetah made friends with a rabbit, would it refrain from eating all rabbits, or just that one it befriended. Would a rabbit stay around and be the cheetah’s friend if it ate the rabbit’s family? The dog and the panther surprised me because that panther could have easily killed that dog. Maybe the panther was raised in captivity and was somewhat socialized? If the panther was used to receiving prepared meals, it may not have the instinct to immediately kill. Whatever the circumstance, the dog was lucky.

@@xnetpc about the footage of the dog with the black panther, those are from an institute called Instituto Onça Pintada, here in Brazil. they are know from their work with panthers. the dogs name is Zambele, they use her as a mom to teach baby panthers how to socialize, behave and all. im not a specialist and may be saying something wrong, thats not my intection. anyway, they have a youtube channel where you can check by yourself their work, its called Familia Animal, although you can type Instituto Onça Pintada on search aswell

Gotta be careful with coyotes, though, it's possible for dogs to get along with them, but it's even more likely that the pact of coyotes will attack the dog (especially if you're not around)

@@AuspexAO, she was 120 pounds. I didn't even know they were out there. When I went outside, a couple of the coyotes moved closer to me by a few feet then stayed at that distance. She wasn't satisfied with that and chased the whole pack off. She was a loving and loyal gentle giant. I miss her. She died in November 2006.

I live in kind of a weird area. It's an island that's rural and kind of developed at the same time. Also, I'm at the intersection of three distinct coyote packs. It's neat.

I lived in Denver and there were tons of coyotes in the non-downtown neighborhoods. So many people would just show you the videos they took on their phones of their dog(s) playing in the park with one coyote or another. And then as soon as you'd get outside the city onto the more prairie-type areas, you'd hear stories of coyotes jumping over fences in neighborhoods and picking up/dragging off smaller dogs.

I totally don't think we better than them but their extreme charm is an evolutionary adaptation that has served them well on evolutionary terms. I love my 4 hounds now who are part coyote. When I first moved here in the desert in 2000 there was a pack of 22 domestic strays with whom I fed and took care of so adopted them all!
