Square or better yet rectangle works best. If it is just for time or style either round or square are fine but for screen size and usability I want square/rectangle screens

They just need to make the sensors more accurate for fitness tracking. That was my only complaint about the watch. The heart rate monitor was not accurate at all

The argument that a circular watch looks more traditional has never made sense to me. Why would we want that? We aren't choosing to wear a traditional watch, we're choosing to wear a smart watch. It should look like what it is-a computer on my wrist. I don't want it to be confused for a non-smart watch.

I really liked the rectangular display on the original samsung wear watch and I also love super large round displays. Give me both and I'm happy as long as they have fast wireless charging and a large battery.

I hope they come out with a squared version. I was close to switching over to an iphone just for the sake of the apple watch ultra. Square smart watches just look a lot more refined and something you can wear everyday. I had two Galaxy watch 6's and I sold both.

I had the LG G Watch. I prefer the square design over the round watch. Sadly there werent a lot of square Android Wear/WearOS watches after the 1st gen. I believe it was only the first Oppo Watch that was a square WearOS 2.x watch.

Whilst it makes sense to have a smart watch have a square face, it aesthetically doesn't look good IMO. I kinda wish Apple would make a round face watch.

Im a Samsung person, I currently own two watches. The 4th and 6th and had the Active 2 but I will love for the 7th to be square, I really like the apple watch desing so Samsung will make my life easier with me loving the brand and the square apple watch desing 😊

Let's clarify something. Android smartwatches didn't go round to "differentiate themselves" from apple. The goal was always to achieve the round shape (aka a true wrist watch shape). Once the display tech was ready they all started moving towards it

To be fair, there *are* still Android smartwatches you can get that're square (e.g., Amazfit Bip). It's just that square isn't a very good form factor for a watch. It stands out as a piece of tech rather than a regular watch. That's one of the reasons everyone started migrating away from that look: Round was more fashionable. Apple's square makes you part of their team. That's what the Apple faithful love about them. If Apple came out with a round watch, they'd be singing the praises of that, too. I'm all for choice, but like I said, you already have the choice of a square Android smartwatch. Lots of them.

Those aren't Android watches. They're compatible with Android, but they don't run Wear OS officially, so no Google Maps and no Google Wallet, the two apps that I use the most on my watch.

Please change the title. As a tech person myself, it is really annoying seeing all of these vids saying the same thing (Samsung copying Apple) when we all know that the watches from Samsung were square to begin with. And, at that time, Apple didn't have a smart watch. I know everyone is doing this for the clicks to see if it sparks interest, and then they're "explaining" later that Samsung did it first, but why? Apple doesn't have to be mentioned at all in this discussion. The title could be 'Samsung to return to it's square roots'

Totally agree, moreover.. I love the rectangular design even in classic watches as you mentioned like Cartier .. take the Samsung Fit 3 as an example hoping the next series of Samsung watch ( 7 ) would have the exact same design but bigger

I'm sorry for that. Was trying a new recording setup and it looks like the DJI Osmo's gimbal was triggered with these micromovements for the whole video, even though it was on a tripod. I didn't notice it while recording and my editor didn't seem to notice it either, but I just saw it when I watched the live video on the big TV. I'll have to troubleshoot what happened there.

I skip the watch 5 because they didn't get the rotation crown, and please return to tizen, it works much better in watches than Google.

I would love a modern Gear S, with a camera too. I loved that feature on the Gear 2. I want a tech watch to be a tech watch. If I want a traditional round watch to tell the time I'll buy a traditional watch but I don't. Reading emails and text messages are way better on a square or rectangle watch. Lots of things get cut off on round watches. Maybe keep making a round watch for the round users and a square or rectangle watch for the ones that like that. I love the shape of apple watches, I'm just not an apple guy. I love my fold.

So true ...i think smartwatch being square is just a sensible idea ...as in a traditional watch itz ok cuz we are only watching time , but on a smartwatch we expect much more data n for that bigger canvas is always welcome... I think if samsung comes up with a square smartwatch it'll sell off like hot cakes...

I would DEFINITELY buy the square Samsung watch! I find the apple square absolutely 💯% a style I want! "Yes, please." YES! I almost bought the newest apple watch for $700+ just because it looked cool and FUNCTIONAL. BUT. It ultimately was not much different from the smaller one for much less. My Apple Watch is getting old and the battery needs to be charged more often. I use iPhone, but also have a Pixel 7 as a second phone. I've started thinking about buying a Google Pixel Watch 3 when it arrives, but don't like the round shape. Wish the Pixel Watch also came with a shape like my Apple Watch.

First of all, samsung is not copying apple. Samsung did it first in 2013 with the gear 1. Apple liked that idea and copied off of samsung 2 years later but they made it apple'ish. The only reason samsung has not done a square watch until now is because of the Gear S2 which revolutionized samsung watches moving forward.

I used to use apple watch for years and I get your point. Especially the thing about fitting more content (although bigger apple watch ultra doesn’t really show more content compared to smaller apple watch iirc). But square face feels very utilitarian and I started to hate looking at it. Now I’m back to team circle and couldn’t be happier.

I disagree. Square watches look stupid. A round watch actually looks like a nice piece of jewelry especially when you take those terrible rubber bands off and get a nice metal link band. And just get the largest screen version available.
