I like that they're comparing a limited time offer for new customers at Mint to the regular price for other carriers, and not disclosing that. Mints unlimited plan costs $90/m after the initial 12 month welcome period. Their lowest plan is $45/month after the initial 3 month welcome period. Those prices are more expensive than buying a single line 5G plan direct from T-Mobile instead of going through a reseller. The network performance is the same as T-Mobile, only they won't get access to all of T-Mobiles 5G features straight away so you'll be stuck on 4G for awhile This is an advertisement pretending to be news.

I keep my phone on WiFi at home, offices, etc when offered. That covers so much of my data usage that my actual cell plan is just *1GB* per month. Even then, I only use about half of it on average. The rest gets rolled over, leaving me gigs in reserve for the rare occasion I need a lot data or to be away from WiFi for an extended period. Also to note, I refuse to install games with video ads, use the data saver phone settings, disable auto play on web videos, etc. That saves a lot on data. Some steaming services also offer "offline" options to download on WiFi and watch later. There are so many ways to reduce data usage and slim down your cell bill. Seriously, my yearly service cost is less than some people pay per month. And yes, I buy my phone outright, usually refurbs.

Of course, you also need to know how much you are earning. Then read what's on your bill and pay it before the due comes. When you pay your bill late, there is a late fee (included in your contract). When you pay your bill to reconnect your line again, there is a reconnection fee/s (included also in your contract). *You get an iPhone device when your salary is for Motorola only. Mint mobile is a private company, they are not traded on the exchanges. Which in my purview actually allows me to trust them more. A small number of owners can be shamed into doing things right, or may even have the moral backbone to do it right from the beginning. When you have potentially thousands of owners, some of which don't even know they are owners because of how hands off and diversified they are, the only common factor binding those owners together is the desire for growing profits. This fact is part of what drives public companies to continually push the limits in gouging customers.

@Jonathan Parks It costs more per person to deliver. You could also compare Europe's similar population density to USA, or other areas with differing ratios. However pretty much everyone manages to do it cheaper than the US. I was astonished by the charge service when I lived there, and the lack of portability of devices across networks.

@@lilacdoe7945 you can see the price of the phones. You have two options you can out right buy your phone which lowers the bill big time or you can payoff the phone which will keep the cost high. I have out right bought my phone's and most all my plans have been about 40 to 50 dollars. So yeah it's on the customer. T-Mobile bdid away with phone contacts so you could see how much you are being ripped off by the people who make the phones. When Apple and Samsung price the flag ship phones at prices near a mid range gaming PC that's a problem. And instead of out right buying the phone you go the pay it off road and wonder why your cell phone bill costs so much. Well Verizon, ATT, and T-Mobile have to make money of that phone some how. You really think they keep 100% of the sales of the phones?

I hate paying AT&T for my service, but they are the only provider that works inside my home. I tried: Verizon, T-mobile, and AT&T. Only one service works. T-mobile checked their map in their store for me last week - still does not cover my home. When you are stuck with one provider, it means a 5 Gig plan for four phones every month costs about $130 after fees and taxes. Want unlimited? That goes up to $175 a month. It it absolutely awful - but at least the cell phone works in an emergency when the power goes out. For those who don't know, Mint Mobile's network is T-Mobile. That 5X speed increase with 5G? Only if you buy a new phone costing each around $800 to $1000 dollars.
