EXACTLY. So many times on the news I will hear reporters say "There are rumors that...." or "It is believed that....". So whatever they say isn't actually a fact or true, they are just saying things that they believe. I've sat there yelling at my TV, "If it isn't 100% factual then don't even say it. No one wants to hear what you THINK. You're a news station, we want to hear what you KNOW." It's people who can't differentiate between facts and thoughts that divide us all. Without a doubt the MSM is dividing the US more than ever. I don't know why they want to do it, but it sure is working

Well, the pool of misinformation is ubiquitous. You can't limit everyone and mistakes are inevitable. News organizations should be incentivised to do a better job of notifying viewers that what they're listening to could be falsehoods. Meanwhile the viewership and people in general need to accept that what they're hearing from news, from media in general, may not always be true and in the greater picture that their beliefs aren't or at least should not be precious.

And the President shouldn't spew lies, and when he does, he should be punished for lying. It should lead to impeachment for lying.

Dangerous road to go down. We've gotta preserve the free media, because the alternative is government control of the media. I think we should incentivize media to adopt a co-operative or perhaps a nonprofit model, because the profit incentive is obviously the main reason this misinformation gets through, but we can't let the government control the media. That would exacerbate the problem rather than solve it.

In doing so, they are creating a perpetual feedback loop that Trump is taking advantage of in order to insert himself into the collective mindshare of the nation. Think about it, Trump has literally dominated the news for the past 9 months. That's not only insane, but insanely dangerous.
