I believe they could also make it that depending on the ping it changes the percentage for the swing completion, so this way players with really high ping could also have a chance to wall replace.

They need to add the harvesting punch from STW Letting it travel a whole tile long and harvest and break anything in its path. And of course let you punch people and knock em back a wee bit

This could be done by a pickaxe delay like the pump delay, not ridiculously long like the shotguns but like as if it was the full animation time, this way no one can fast farm

Imagine pickaxes worked in a similar way that the AR works, where if you keep pressing the tricker/left click it stays “pickaxing”, but whenever you click/press once and release it just does a partial animation and a partial hit. They could even do reduced damage, idk.

I like the idea. Animations that adapt to how much ping you have would not only help with pickaxe swings and wall taking but with swapping weapons as well. I play on 150 to 200 and it sucks when you should win a fight but your weapon swaps are too slow due to ping.

They should add this as a feature because I'm on 60 ping on public/Arena matches and it's so hard to take walls because people with 0 ping will immediately take my wall while I have try 10 times with no sucess because I will break their wall and immediately try to take it but the only thing that happens is it will play the sound of the wall breaking and will play animation but they wall doesn't break and they will make a window and 200 pump me

I love your idea, Sypher, but the only thing I would change is the percentage. So one pickaxe swing takes 1000 ms, fortnite should determine your %completion based on your ping, so if you are on 0 ping, nothing would change, but if you have 60 ping, you will only need to complete 94% of you pickaxe swing. This would let the same player perform the same (at retaking walls) no matter if they are at 0 or 100 ping, because their lost time to react due to ping is made up in the pickaxe allowance time. This would prevent 0 ping players from getting a even bigger advantage.

Pickaxes are problematic in some ways

So if I understand this correctly we can basically pull out our blueprints while pickaxe swinging? That way we don't have to pull it out at the exact moment we hit the wall which is pretty much impossible for high ping players.

i like it, i think one other factor coming into play is response delay on monitor/fps. i'm sure two people on the same ping would sway to who has better specs. which is of course inevitable but this could be a great way to minimize the hardware gap for response and ping. hope a change actually does happen

Another pickaxe problem, because of the animations to pull out different pickaxes, some of them delay the swing. This is most noticeable in Thor's hammer, Mjolnir, but I've noticed it for multiple pickaxes. You pull out the pickaxe, and then you have to wait longer before you can start the swing.

Essentially just a forgiveness window. The wall would still break at the same time, a window of input would allow for ping balance. Funny enough the first comparison that came to mind is certain Guitar Hero games. there are hammer-ons and pull-offs, where you don't have the strum the note, just tap the correct key. On a real guitar you'd play one note then slap your fret finger over to the next note. But in Guitar Hero, you don't *have to* press these note types with the correct timing. You always have to strum correctly. But certain games in the series you could hold the next hammer-on immediately after playing the last note, no matter the gap in between. Which is unrealistic. You're not playing music anymore you're just pressing buttons in order. Obviously not the best example. But I'm worried this Pickaxe concept would just, make players start ending all their swings a second early. and after a month or two the meta will have already shifted to that at high level play. But if it's just to recognize and compare inputs, without forcing players to start canceling every swing since everyone else is doing it - cool.

I agree about the slurp bazooka to a certain point. What you propose is great for really great players but will leave the less skilled players always as a disadvantage as the best players will always be coming out with the slurp bazookas and they have higher skill so it will leave us average / slightly below average players at a huge disadvantage. With them being in Lamas, it gives everyone the same lucky chance if you will so a less skilled player may be able to have one on them and may help them win that 1 battle with the better skilled player and let them feel really good about themselves for that moment in time. lol ... cheers Sypher and IMO you are the best content creator that I have ever seen and watched. I normally hang around 60 and 50 ping in pubs and arena, but in creative i hang around 40 to 30 ping, and yeah, this would help me alot if i practice this and would get better in compettitive :) At least ik how to active coin flip un creative and pubs.

they should add holster styles for ONLY harvesting tools, instead of having those back bling harvesting tool cosmetics they should make it so that when a player swaps to a different item, the harvesting tool is placed onto their back, or if it's a small one like thor's hammer or any of those knives or dual wields, then those should be placed on the hip, bigger (normal size) harvesting tools appear on the back just thought it would be cool to add more style to characters

Yes this would be great because it would give you a window to try to build and activate the coinflip mechanic without actually breaking the wall sooner, thus making it even for players with higher ping. But, isn't turbobuilding also ping dependent? Isn't that another reason why higher ping players get their walls taken more often? And also the reason why they can be shot through their turbobuilding more often as well?

I feel like this would screw up moments where the person with the wall opens the edit as the swing finishes and forces the swing to basically hit air. If im understanding correctly the wall would then improperly break leading players to likely never hold or make plays off their wall because taking it would have a slight advantage

For a pic axe concept I thought of it would be a big scythe and it was a different swing than other axes. But of course it would have a different animation swing and I feel like it would like be something new in the next season

i like the idea but should be for players with hight above a certain ping. lower ping players full animation over a certain amount of lower the amount of animation required just like your example

What if you don't full swing, will reduce the damage delt on the wall ? therefor new timings will come in place so harder it will be to predict! but you need to get used to it.

Dude i try to taking there wall but they always get it first it's super annoying. It takes me a second to switch from pickaxe to wall placing. If i don't get the wall i eventually get one pumped & I'm out of the match. The sweats are soo annoying when it comes to taking a wall.

It would allow faster farming aswell then i think. Since the pickaxe has to do damage to the wall, so it would also do damage to trees, fences etc. By cancelling the next swing would then be faster. Im not sure if epic could make it that this only works against player build structures. Also don't let your ping hold you back. Reet has won multiple solo cashcups on Asia servers (on 110 ping for him). He also qualified for Dreamhack duos grand finales on EU region (160 ping for him) and his teammate was from NA east so on like 90-100 ping aswell. It's hard, but it's possible. If you blame ping instead of yourself, you are holding yourself back and won't improve as much.

I play on an average of 200 ping And i think that this would make it alot fairer for when i play creative against my friend who averages 10 to 30 ping and when i try to pllay the tournaments feel like if im boxed trying to get a rez off or just protect i cant keep my walls or take them back

Now this guy(SypherPK) knows what he's talking about. Me and the homies hop on box fight and the moment my fingers get a little too hot on the keys, this blank pickaxe thing starts happening because what I always try and do is grab someone's wall when they're resetting it. I end up blank pickaxing it and get pumped for everything.

I think fortnite also needs a way to cancel the reload animation, because sometimes you kill someone and you start reloading then another player jumps in your face. Maybe they can have a feature where ADS cancels the reload animation.

i get 90 ping on my fastest internet. In season 1 we the wall damage would be triggered by clicking your mouse button, So as soon as you click damage is dealt...But now there is a millisecond delay until the animation is complete. But then i feel lower ping players will be able to do it even faster than the higher ping ones even though the animation is reduced by 85%, So its again going to be even because both will do 85% faster in damaging

I love the idea maybe they (Epic games) could decrease percentage depending on the server distance from all the devices that are further enough to find this idea helpful ( For example it's like 75% for the people who are in like Asia close to the middle East.)

Makes sense. 'Swing pre-completion' inversely proportional to 'ping'. Higher the ping, lesser the milliseconds to complete a swing. This math should be used in the Fortnite Client code before being sent to server.

With slurp bazookas it could stiop be in llamas just that it pings llamas automatically when ur near like it does with cosmic chest

I’m usually get about 25- 55 ping and when I play arena about half the people get the wall first try when I Have to try at least 3-5 times to take theirs... I believe this would really help especially for people in like that have 60-100 ping

I can't wait for the sweats to corner me and take my wall faster than normal, giving me less time to swap to a shotgun. When I do offense, I don't do wall taking editing whatever bc it's too sweaty so I do what I normally do, but this concept is going to hurt in defense.

i just started playing on a chromebook and ive been using a controller and zero ping but the input delay is terrible but i used to play on console and this an a major upgrade

One way to fix fast farming with your method is you can only do your method every so often

What if you could take ur pickaxe to aupgradebench and use gold to do stuff like increase pickaxe damage to players or builds of increase swing speed

im on console and i have like a 0.82 or 1 second delay i all ways take the wall get better wifi or wanna those cables that can hook up to the pc or console a internet cable it make ur game run a lot smoother even if u have a lot of ping
