The problems you mentioned are specific to the country you live, not specifically to do with tiny house living.

I had a farmhouse on 40 acres in Pennsylvania USA. All of those problems you mention we also had. Flies, huge spiders, raccoons, snakes, bears, deer eating our gardens, just to name a few. The flies get in thru the tiniest cracks, and no house is airtight. Ours were getting in from the attic and then dying on the windowsills. These are all living-in-the-country problems, not tiny house problems.

It is very clear that those "but" are not related to the tiny house, But they are greatly related to where you decided to place the tiny house, so if you change your location that is the end of your buts

I have to echo the comments made by so many others. This should have been titled: Why living in the Australian bush is not as great as you think. I once lived in a six bedroom house in an isolated region of Western Australia - and we experienced most of the ‘problems’ this lady mentions in relation to her ‘tiny’ property. I would have thought the negatives would be lack of storage space, lack of privacy (if sharing), difficulty in accommodating visitors etc. As for dirty floors, we never entered our house in the footwear we wore outside - we would take them off at the entrance, and either slip our feet into a pair of house shoes, or walk around on our hardwood floors in bare feet. When we went back outside, we would quickly check our footwear for spiders. Most flies and mosquitos were kept at bay via fly screens on windows and doors, and fly swatters saw off any strays that got inside. Oh, and I never had a problem sharing my shower with the odd frog which I often found in there. Nevertheless, I did enjoy viewing this lady’s attractive house, together with the landscape and wildlife seen from its doorstep….

in my tiny house in Greece, which I have for the past 30 years, and I stay there about half months of the year, I 've solved all of these issues. First, spray the exterior walls of the house every six months. No spiders, no flies, nothing at all (I spray my big Athens house every six months too, to get rid of cockroaches, so this is not just a tiny house issue). Second, I have one dog and two cats. No bats, no mice, no frogs, nothing at all. Third, I have a nice mud rug outside the door, so no mud either. My only issue is snakes in the summer, which is also solved by the cats. Ah, and thunders, I am really scared of them, but this can also be solved with installing a lightning rod. Simple solutions for simple issues. Regarding the mobile reception, I have very good reception, but no internet. I just use my mobile internet whenever needed. That's a good chance to avoid any internet addiction, and I am not addicted to my mobile either, half of the days it is switched off. .

I have a few comments about the points made in this video. Firstly, I feel the poo from the animals outside as well as all of the other animals coming inside is not specific to a tiny home but rather any home in the country. I used to live 40km outside a small town and we would often have flies, spiders, millipedes, centipedes (very rarely, thankfully), moths, the occasional giant moth would try to get inside (which sound like someone throwing a rock at your window, btw), and frogs on the super rare occasion. We have also had 1 small snake and 1 large snake (which i dont know what type they were as my parents "dealt" with them). But these all happened in different houses while living in the country, none of which were tiny houses. Sealing the house is the biggest fix - retractable fly screens seal much better than the attached screens you have on the windows and minimise bugs coming in whether they can fly or not. They can be put on doors and windows. And if that doesnt work then there may be a breach elsewhere which may need addressing. Secondly, the mud/dirt coming into the house is also not specific to a tiny home. Although it may be more noticable in a tiny home, the amount of dirt inside would be no different if you were in a normal sized house. There are many work-arounds to the problem, one being no shoes inside and having them in a shoe box. Lastly, the phone reception is also not a tiny house problem but a country house problem. There are also solutions to this but they can be expensive, depending on your budget. Also, I would question what you want phone reception for. Tiny house mentality is to downsize, minimise, and unplug (figuratively and literally). If you have internet, which it appears you do, then the phone reception itself is not necessary. Internet communication has surpassed phone communication. I feel all the points are not specific to a tiny home. These issues would happen in the country, in a big house or a tiny house.

sounds to me this has nothing to do with living in a tiny home, but WHERE you parked and how you maintain your home. Bugs, spiders, flys and frogs are everywhere. Dirt comes in everyones house, seems like you need a front deck, or rug outside... None of these things were tiny home related ...

I feel like this video should be titled "Reasons not to live in the Country" because most of your issues were animal related which is based on location and then the only other thing was the cell signal which is also completely location related. Ive lived in a normal house in the country where everything in this video is true. Not trying to make this personal but your video is basically click bait for people that are nervous about moving into a tiny home. To which they would not actually get any good information or opinions other than whether or not to live in the Country.

Got to the end, still waiting for some form of problem caused by a tiny house. Everything you mentioned is normal living and not just in the country. I lived in Hervey Bay for 10 years, there were thousands of bats there, in a city around 80k. All of the other problems are normal problems, that you come to expect anywhere. I had one of those giant spiders years ago, that made my car its home. I would see it occasionally, crossing over the outside windscreen while I was driving. Brushed it off in the cbd one day!

You have to take into account that certain regions of the world don't have bug, bat and frog issues like this; also, just take your shoes off before you come in. Either have storage outside for shoes, or storage for designated "outdoor" shoes right at the doorway outside. That said, I really appreciate someone pointing out the issues with tiny home living so people can make educated decisions in either buying a tiny home and/or designing one. Thank you so much.

My problem with tiny homes is all the restrictions and I do know mobile homes have Restrictions as well But my thing is for as much money as you put in to get it up to standard codes why not just buy a mobile home that's already at that? And again I do understand mobile homes have codes as well But a mobile home's better Bang for the buck you don't have to do anything extra. I've been looking at tiny homes even the cheapest one you could buy just a regular mobile home With more square footage I just don't see the point. I would put a mobile home on private land . Besides I don't want to mess with anything in my golden years I just want to something I can walk in and enjoy!

I love to entertain with dinners, etc. I've always thought I'd love a tiny house while the weather was perfect and I was able to sit outside. LOL! Nice video but only one of these is an issue with Tiny houses. Flies, spiders, frogs, fruit bats (seriously don't park near the Cairns public library) are a Rural issue. Same with phone coverage. I live in a Rural area (Not in a tiny) in a mobile phone black spot. There is only one solution: a cel-fi booster from Telstra. There is no other option. You can get sat nbn, but for purely phone reception the Telstra cel-fi booster is it. The one issue that pertains to a tiny is the mud, esp for THOW. If you don't have a deck/verandah your muddy boots/shoes/dogs will be coming inside and if you don't have a deck you will need solution for that.

Take a tour of my tiny house here ukposts.info/have/v-deo/m5uLrpuQsYWck5s.html Let me rephrase some of my video so it makes more sense in respect of a tiny house. Because there is limited floor space, even a small amount of dirt or mud on the floor shows up big time on that small floor space. In terms of flies and spiders, in a typical house, 20 of them a day would almost go unnoticed but in a small space like a tiny, that’s not the case. 20 makes a huge difference each day. Yuk! Perhaps I should have explained that better in the video 😊

How can a frog enters your bathroom? You probably have holes in the tiny house.

Is the plumbing in the ground or a pipe running to a cesspit or ditch? How do snakes get up to the toilets? Critters crawl.

To be fair tiny frogs can enter through the toilet bowl. I have personally witnessed this in rural Australia. Gives you quite a fright when you're already sitting on the toilet seat 🤣

Your problems are superficial at best. Tiny home problems would relate to actual living space issues or structural problems, or design problems. Not spiders, frogs and bats. They are superficial problems that are transferable to any living situation, whether in a small, medium or large home. Enjoy your tiny home and where you are situated, as well as the perks rather than problems associated with living in a tiny home that are also on wheels.

Thank you so much for this video. For the past few years, I thought a tiny cottage style house would be great for me. You highlighted all of my major concerns about spiders, bugs and ( I wonder about) possibly snakes getting in. Other videos talk about mold overload and instability during major storms. I'm going with a smaller traditional home. If I had to deal with what you're experiencing, I would not be able to handle it. Wishing you the very best through it all. 🙏💕

The spiders, bugs, snakes, and mold are more about build quality, maintenance, and location. Full size houses get spiders, snakes, bugs, and mold just as easily if they are built to a similar standard(the holes and gaps along the sill plate that let the critters in are actually more common in larger structures), placed in a similar location, and used in a similar way. The stability of the structure in severe weather definitely is a serious concern for tiny homes and although it can be dealt with using hurricane ties and anchors larger fixed structures will always be a bit safer during storms. FYI a cat can help with most of the bugs and snakes if you have any interest in owning a pet.

So it's not really about tiny house problems, you have bug and animal problem. You need a walk path to your tiny house for your mud issue, pavers work. You live in Australia! you've watch Steve Erwin, you live where you have many more things you need to worry about then spiders and bats. You are sweet, I'm sorry you live out in the country it comes with obstacles. flies come with living in the country, most likely you have livestock around you or it's the bat poop. Good luck, and God bless

Get a small container with a lid where you can deposit your shoes right at the door. As far as the insects and wildlife... I'm afraid if you want to escape them you'll have to move out of the forest. You're in their territory.

Heya Ziggy, I hope you're well. What company did you purchase your home from, I'm looking to purchase at some stage and am looking for a small mobile home. Also how much do you pay to keep your home in the park, what are the overheads included?
