More competition is supposed to mean lower prices but the streaming services are doing the opposite which is why Netflix saw their subscriber numbers go down. The services are spending more tens and hundreds of millions of dollars on each new series/tv show when in reality consumers just want a quality shows/movies that could have a reasonable budget. In a few years, I wouldn’t be surprise if we see a cut in rates and the sheer amount of content once these services find more people dropping them.

more competition does not mean low prices as we are seeing in reality. More competition = low prices is just a capitalist myth that as we see has no real meaning on the real world. As the real world shows more competition sometimes also leads to high prices. There is no correlation between these things there are thousands of others factors that play out

I've been cutting off subscriptions left and right in the past couple of months. HBO cut content and raised their prices by a dollar, with no notice? Gone! I'm not paying for your merger. Netflix reached double their initial monthly price last year? Gone! Apple+ has one or two shows that interested me, I watched them. Gone! Paramount had a lot of IP I thought I'd love, but I rarely got drawn in by anything. Gone! The streamers have completely abandoned their initial value proposition to me, and so I abandon them as a customer. If we all did this, they would be forced to fall in line. ✌🏻

I have Netflix,prime,Disney & paramount I pay for but I have acces to other free steaming services in the uk such as freevee originally called imbd. Pluto tv, ITVX, bbc i player,Rte player,S4C clic,my5,all4 are the free uk ones. I had Apple TV+ until free trial I had was over, I also had now tv as I had a cheap offer to have it. There’s also Roku channel, which was free. We also have Sky go,discovery+ which main householder pays. So market is definitely saturated here as well. That just ones we pay for. There’s just ones we use. There are other we don’t like tv player,Danz,viva play,ketchup tv,pop player. Last two are for kids there also tv plus which is free & available on Samsung tvs. We also have uk tv player,vision tv,365 on demand on freeview & mobile phone apps. I do hope free cbs ones merged tho like my5,Pluto tv in to one in the uk there’s also like horror bites & cbs catch up also free. it would be nice for them to tidy them up tho.

For me, as costumer, the solution is simple: I just subscribe for the needed time to see a show and then cancel the service. Specially now; before there where good shows and movies coming out very often… now, well now, there are a bunch of streaming services that haven’t released a good show or movie for a long time… I don’t remember when was the last time I watched something good from Netflix, amazon prime or even HBO. So what’s the reason to pay for the service? when the service was cheap, it didn’t matter; but now, it does. So I’ve canceled all my services and just subscribe when I want to see a show. Also, the rising prices will reborn an old problem: piracy. When streaming services where cheap, there was no need to use torrents and so on… but now, I believe that piracy will rise again.

I'm glad there is still physical media since I own what I buy plus I get way better quality than streaming and I can play the media anytime i want offline and I'm not required to pay a monthly service and I don't need to worry about the media content I use that will be removed compared to streaming services. Streaming services are convient but once you stopped paying for streaming services, all the money you spend you get nothing out of it. When I buy something such as material things like a nice TV, nice speakers and etc. and I wanna be able to enjoy it what I purchase and feel like what I'm getting my moneys worth. People nowadays seem to take things for granted and it seems like ownership of your own stuff seems to be less important. It seems like conveince is more important than ownership of you pay for and what you buy. For example, what if companies want to charge you a monthly subscription service for every single thing that can be bought with money, whats next a monthly subscription to fee in order to fill up your gas or recharge your electric car, a monthly subscription fee for each utility like water, gas or electricity when renting or living in a home, monthly subscription to grocery shopping online and in stores etc. I really hope these examples I mentioned never ever happen.

@OledBurnInKing
@OledBurnInKing Рік тому
@@PSYCHOV3N0M I get what your saying but I'm worried about having ownership of media that I paid for with digital, consumers are just paying for the licenses since the companies are passing on the licenses to the customers. Streaming services for media are good for convenience but affects people that want ownership of what they paid for. With digital gaming consoles , there is no guarantee that the games will be supported long term. I don't wanna keep on paying for more a expensive copy of title that I already own just to be playable when a new console comes out. Not having backwards compatibility makes it a very difficult decision when someone wants to play there old favorite games on a new console. It's why I bought the Xbox series x because I can still play games from the very first Xbox all the way up to the series x games even though those old Xbox games stopped receiving support. The same can't be said about any form of digital copies of games. For example, if I decided to buy a digital version of the ps5 and than in the future when the ps6 comes out, i can't play those ps5 games anymore because they are no longer being supported and the only way to play the ps5 games is by having the physical copy of the games and let's say for example I paid $1,000 for digital only games on the ps5 and they can't be played with anymore. I would be out of $1,000 and got nothing out of it. I don't want digital media to make it to the point that you have to keep on spending $70 for every game since the games are only being sold brand new. I buy games used since they are cheaper than there digital counterparts and used games can be available on sale anytime. I also play games on pc but there are games that I used to play on steam but they were removed from steam. I also like to get games from epic games because they have popular games that are free every week. I got a bunch of popular games for free from epic games and some of the games were $60 when they first come out and during summer time, certain games on steam are very cheap so I'm not worried about spending a boatload of money and games nowadays have bugs in them and the games cost $70 full of bugs which ruins the enjoyment of playing games. Even sony admitted awhile ago that people that chose the option to buy the digital copies of the movies they paid for instead of renting movies, you are paying for the licenses. Sony never mentioned about offering any refunds and if they can keep the digital copies of the movies they purchased once they shut down the movie streaming they used to have. Google stadia only lasted 2 years almost 3 years and google discontinued stadia and people had to pay full price for the digital games, luckily google even gave people refunds to people that used there google stadia service. The issues I have with digital media is that the service can be discontinued anytime and sometimes be sold to another company and the new company can do whatever they want with the money that people paid for with there hard earned money. Companies have gotten greedy to the point they stopped listening to there consumers and the only reason why the companies got rich is because of the customer support. I don't blame people that pirate digital media when companies got greedy, it's there own damn fault when they could have continued to listen to the backlash of the customers that supported these corporations instead of taking the criticism and making there service better and give people whay they want. That's why I'm into niche products like hifi audio because there are certain brands that actually listen to the negative feedback and try there best to give there customers what they want. There is snake oil in hifi but at least with hifi they have multiple options for everyones needs, since you can get really good audio at a very affordable price to the highest end price if that's what someone wants.

Right now my family has Netflix, Prime, and used to have HBO MAX and Disney+. We dropped HBO Max due to them removing shows that we're only available through their platform such as Infinity Train which is now lost media. I got through all of season 1, but could only get through season 2 thanks to my local library being able to import a DVD copy of the rest of season 2. Bringing me to season 3 which I can no longer watch cause there isn't any other place to watch it, besides maybe prime if I pay to rent/buy it. We cut Disney cause nothing new was really being added that we cared to watch, though we re-watched the classic Disney and Pixar movies we loved. We're on the fence with Netflix... They just killed Inside Job which was one of my favorite shows to be added on the service, as well as a few others I was watching as well. It hurts to see good content being used apparently for tax write offs as of late... It's just down right dirty. I hope most of these shows that are deemed lost media now can find some solitude on either other streams services or on cable/satellite channels, sort of like how Tuca & Bertie did when Netflix canned them and adult swim saved them... Until they also canned the show. My final take is that Amazon Prime might be the last safe haven for animated shows, as they can host the shows that no longer air or streamed, such as Over The Garden Wall, which is the only good place I can find to stream it legally and in Full HD.

Prices, normally, would be low where viewership is large, such as in a country like Bharat. So, the cost per household works out cheaper here than, say, in the UK. Also, local content that is available at much, much cheaper rates being offered by domestic streaming services is preferred in comparison to European or Hollywood movies/serials, which have a very niche viewership. Hence, if Netflix or Prime or any other streaming service wants a piece of the pie here in Bharat, they are: a) forced to cut down on the subscription price they charge, and b) show movies and series that will wean the population away from domestic content.

Your comment is similar to someone using Nippon for japan or deutschland for Germany while typing in English. This is a American centric video so kindly use the right name instead of confusing everyone.
@Cybertori
@Cybertori Рік тому
@@krishna-iq6fr I'm an American, and I don't mind it. Bharat is a far older name for the land than India, that Colony of the British Empire. You are a major world market, whatever you call yourselves. We can adjust. 😉

@@Cybertori My point was to avoid confusion not that i am ashamed of using it. You don't mind cause you are aware of that word but that's not the case with everyone. If my guess is correct someone might read his comment and see the word bharat then confuse it with other countries which starts with letter "b" like Brazil or Bahrain. Then whole part of his comment will be pointless.

I have Netflix & get HBO Max thru DirectV box plus I pay for Apple + because I use AppleTV 4K box to access the streaming services on my Sony 55AH Oleg TV. Prefer Apple streaming to Android Streaming. My premium Netflix acct. cost is reduced by having a Tmobile 55+ max cell phone service. Also have prime video acct thru Amazon which offer reduced streaming services occasionly at $1.99/mon for short terms.

Streaming services are now competing for the best content and to do that you have to obtain IP’s or create new ones and then spend insane amounts of money to make the show have quality. For instance Netflix spent 30 million per episode for stranger things season 4. And it’s subscribers pay for that quality. HBO max just launched the last of us which is 10 million per episode. As they continue to push for higher quality content the price will continue to rise.

Cable subscriptions are in the 150 to 300 dollar range per month, and I suspect more than 90% of people will cut the service and only use it if the charges are less than 120/month. Streaming services are tolerable for most people if the total stays below 100 dollars, but people prefer if the monthly costs remain below 50. I think people will tolerate some combination of three paid premium streaming content, three low to free streaming services, and a broadband service such as cable in the long term as long as the charges fall below 150. Low income houses will always attempt to stay under 50, but usually that is not possible in most regions of the country.

No way. The weekly show release is ideal. THERE ISN'T SO MUCH OUT THERE. Like Joel McHale said, "99% of all art is garbage." People need to be able to binge what they want when they want because time commitments for entertainment _every_ week aren't feasible as a parent/guardian.

I have recently been (again) looking into live tv streaming to try and cut my cable bill but find we would have to compromise and loose a few channels and still not save very much even with renting three set top boxes. Sticking with cable (plus the many free ad supported streaming options). On a separate note, I noticed Fios is now offering UKposts TV for the regular $65 price but can be billed through Fios.
