I feel for your situation. That being said, it's all in perspective. I am a subscriber with severe hearing loss, I've been flying cross country helping my family after losing two immediate family members over the past 5 weeks. While struggling with hearing aid capacity during long days in airports, dealing with the loss of loved ones by far trumps any concerns of hearing issues. Please consider definition of "worst week ever", as content is important yet it can always be rectified.

Lost my grandmother this week too, but I typically don't share information that personal in my vlogs.

You just saved me articulating something that makes me so frustrated I would’ve said something a lot uglier. Thank you.

Condolences. It seemed evident in watching this video that something else is going on besides the lost editor.@@DrCliffAuD

Then you really had a bad week. I enjoy your content and love learning your perspective surrounding hearing loss and the technology surrounding such. Sometimes personal context is important, even without specific details. It's unfortunate that those you pay to assist in delivering your content dropped the ball, consider your audience is simply grateful for you, regardless of those details.@@DrCliffAuD

I used to tell my builder clients that it is good that they have more than one architect. During the crash of the mid 80s I saw builders with all their loans with one bank run into trouble when their bank collapsed. Always have a plan "B".

Hang in there. I appreciate what you do. I pick up my new Oticon Real aids on Wednesday. You made my research super easy. Even found my audiologist on Hearing up!! Thank you

I have benefited greatly from all of your teaching and informational videos through the years! Just last week I had an appointment with my audiologist to explore the new Oticon Intent hearing aids. I mentioned some of the information that I had gotten from one of your videos, and she said, "Oh, I love Dr. Cliff!" Thanks for all you do to help us with our hearing care!

I share the same sentiment as a binaural hearing aid user

👍 Good job on this week's Vlog, Cliff. 😁💕

Thank you for the vlog despite all the stress and drama. You can’t do it all. You have to be able to delegate certain tasks and responsibilities in order not to burnout. Life happens when you are making other plans. Things happen that can’t be controlled. Great job in doing what you do.

What happened to your old editor?
@dtannenb2 місяці тому
I am sorry for your issues, did you have an emergency contact for your editor? Maybe something severe happened to her. You should get an emergency contact for your new editor. I really like your videos, very educational and the hearing aid reviews are very helpful. I am going to contact one of your best practices audiologists in LA. I have Phonak hearing aids but I think I need them reprogrammed and/or a custom mold. I wasn’t all that happy with the audiologist that I previously used and your best practice checklist seems important to have if you want to make sure you are getting the right results. Thanks for doing these videos.

I'm so sorry you've had this problem with your editor. 🥺 I usually try to watch your Sunday Vlogs right away, so I was wondering where today's Vlog was. Thanks for updating us on what has been going on.

Sorry for your loss of a good editor. Hope for the best in the future. Looking forward to a review of the new Widex Smart aids. I’m currently using Widex Moment aids which have just gone out of maintenance plan.

Gosh! I guess I wasn’t the only person who had a rough past week or two. I’m sorry to hear that you’re someone I could commiserate with. 😉 And, gee, this makes me wish I knew more about video editing to even offer to be one of your potential future backup editors (I live in Chandler so the time zone thing certainly wouldn’t be a problem, at least.). If nothing else, please know that here’s one (long time - like I remember when you were still out in Anthem) hearing aid and cochlear implant using viewer who really appreciates your videos and thinks this video (that you edited yourself) was one of the best he’s seen! 😊

Maybe I’m shadow band, but I think this video says absolutely everything about the hearing aid industry. It says absolutely everything. Dr. Cliff I am genuinely sorry you lost your grandmother. I mean I absolutely am. I’ve been fairly belligerent to you before but at this time it makes me sad to hear that. I just read it in another comment. But I contend with all respect in that matter This has absolutely nothing to do with hearing loss, and as patients who have hearing aids and doctors flying around another countries, apparently. We are told we must wait to see those people to get faulty, malfunctioning, hearing aids fixed. Now that could be the roughest week ever. it sucks that you are allowed to have a tragedy without me, saying that. There are always people to say they have it worse than you. But you play a major role in the way things are set up and the denial and gatekeeping of peoples hearing . So that is why I must address it here, even though you probably won’t respond and may not even read it. By the way, I must disconnect the Bluetooth on my hearing aids in order to use voice dictation otherwise it misinterprets everything I say. Why do you think that might be?

Dr. Cliff: Let me commiserate. A young lady did a good job in my phone canvassing and collections dept. Needing a salesperson for a new product I trained her, worked with her to generate presentation materials and a lead list. One week later she was a no-show. Fearing the worst I even inquired at her apartment only to be looked upon as a possible predator. So, I started over. Years later, out of the blue, she calls me looking for another job. Really??? Hopefully your former editor has a reasonable answer since she was so sympatico. - George - ( …your avid hearing improvement student in GA, USA) 11:41

A good leader is more interested in the people, because when your focus is on the people, the results prove themselves. You seem far more focussed on a production schedule than your team, and most of this video is about trying to reconcile a video that might not be perfect or on time, when instead, it should be focused on your team. If you have a good audience, they are not going to care if it is a little late or not quite to the level you want. In fact, your audience will care when you show the team effort and the human side of what is being done. This is evidenced by your comments. A late video or a slow down in production is NOT THE WORST WEEK you could have. Period. It just isn't, and to me, it makes you seem out of touch with part of the reason I liked your channel - the desire to help people. But when your own team might need help, you seem more focused on your own production schedule or whether you got ripped off says that you have missed clues that led up to this. Your team is what makes you, not just you. Yes, you are popular and have that desire to be top of your game and pushing boundaries. But maybe, just maybe this is life kicking you in the butt and reminding you that it starts with people, first. Products and services will come and go, but people are what give them value. I am not going to tell you what you want to hear. You are a professional and have been in business long enough to know this. Slow down. Focus on your team, and stop treating your team like commodities, or you will get commodities. Sitting and trying to justify your Upwork criteria shows that they are not part of a team, they are the commodity that slides into your team. I don't care if you have a billion dollars riding on some new channel/product/service. If your goal is to make a difference in the lives you interact with, then it starts at home. You want a skyscraper, then build the right foundation under it, and then treat it like it matters. That does not mean just giving them a raise when asked. It means you should have known if they needed a raise before they asked. If you think they might be overloaded, then most likely, they already were, but don't want to run the risk of losing the work they were getting. Put yourself in those shoes and stop thinking about your ladder to success, because if that foundation is good, you won't need to worry about your ladder of success. It will come because everyone is working towards it. I am sorry to be hard on you, but you need to hear it, or it will happen again, because next time, it might really be the worst week.

Jason: Of course Dr. Cliff cares about his people. He said that up front. But when a trusted employee disappears with no communication you have a concern and hope it’s not due to bad circumstances. Military or civilian good management is the same. There is a time to move-on and he’s doing it. Your lecture is out of place in my opinion! See my commiseration elsewhere in these comments.

I assume that your old editor didn't live in Ukraine. Ghosting seems to be a "young" generation thing that reeks of cowardice and cruelty. You just cease to exist to them. A mature person, if they want to leave a job or relationship, would have the integrity to tell the boss or other significant person instead of just stopping all communication. Very childish. Sorry you have to deal with this new trend that is totally self-centered and lacks even the most basic concern and respect for the other person being ghosted. So on top of the hurt from being rejected you also have to deal with the blunt cruelty of being rejected in a manner that makes closure almost impossible. You never can know what really happened because you are cut off from all information.
