In my near 37 years of walking this earth with a curious mind; from exploring the library in my primary school, to receiving my first encyclopedia in hardcover, to the first CD version of Encarta '95, and all the subsequent developments in information access... I can say with full conviction that nothing has revolutionized my thirst for knowledge more than ChatGPT has. It truly is as being reborn, I have no other way to describe it. It is such a pleasure to revisit old topics, and new topics alike, with ChatGPT in hand. Bravo!

I agree, but I trust GPT-4 a lot more than free ChatGPT for this kind of thing. I've been going through learning basic machine learning topics and the math to back it up, and it is pretty amazing for this. It can write out equations in latex, and while it may not be great at actual arithmetic down to decimal places, it is better at manipulating equations and answering questions on why things are the way they are. You even can use the "advanced data analysis" mode to graph equations for you, even in 3d. It really is like having a knowledgeable tutor you can talk to. Can instantly ask for clarification on some word that was used, ask about relationships between different things, describe your understanding and see if it is correct, etc. All without risk of looking stupid or wasting someone's time. Is much more interactive than just reading a book or watching a video. Those are good too for more structure, but exploration and resolving confusion via GPT-4 is very good.

Am I wrong here? I can easily visualize this scenario; An AI yoga instructor bot, having closely observed say 100 highly rated yoga instructors, and observed their classes and their students' biometrics and progress, takes over as becoming your personal, and personalized, funny, patient, and apparently compassionate yoga teacher. Everyone is saying that "new jobs will be created" but nobody is saying exactly what we will be able to do better than the bots.
@benny-schmidt
@benny-schmidt 2 місяці тому
Who directs the bot on what to train, implements feedback & fixes where AI missed, advertises the service, collects payments, handles disputes? Still need to staff up to build that business peripheral to the AI core of the business. Those are new jobs, technical, financial, marketing, HR, etc. In your yoga example - yes AI could instruct yoga, but why do people pay to go to yoga class - is there some human element too? Maybe a lot of people are there to be single and mingle, or to get to know the instructor. For those who are only there for the instruction, not the human element, they could do it in VR, or on their TV - but there's peripheral work there too.

I wish the interviewers for these events would prepare better and ask some new questions, instead of only asking questions that have been asked and answered many times before. This would economize everyone’s time. Here is a great question she could have asked: “Is there a process for creating totally new data, which may be even better than existing data on the internet, to train future models?”
@naijagoatfarmer
@naijagoatfarmer 5 місяців тому
@GlennGaasland Sure, it's called RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT, and there there's tons of going on all around the world in every discipline you can think of, and more.
@GlennGaasland
@GlennGaasland 5 місяців тому
@@naijagoatfarmer True. Research and development and science in general can be considered as examples of activity which creates new and valuable data structures. Art, music and design on their higher levels can also be viewed this way. The question in this context then moves towards: can existing large language models, who already possess completely superhuman knowledge of all existing scientific knowledge in various different fields, engage in research and development-like processes where this leads to truly original and valuable insights, models, designs, architechtures and theories? Could this for example happen by means of simulations? Perhaps simulations of in-depth dialogues or multi-agent debates and creative collaborations that play out over very long virtual timeframes? Especially for the largest models who already possess extreme amounts of world knowledge from having observed text, images and video, this should seem entirely possible. This would of course also sidestep all the petty concerns about existing data «ownership» (whatever that is supposed to mean), since there will soon be available practically infinite amounts of totally novel data structures. Upon which, with the best ones, such a process of simulated research and development could continue. Leading to a kind of virtual flywheel of intelligence.

The last question @43:15 was the most important - about the need for society (all members of our collective human society) to discuss the oncoming tsunami of extremely rapid job transformations, elimination of industries, needs/costs/timelines for retraining for nearly every field, etc. The question recognizes the challenges & risks for every society, at every worker/employee-level. I found Mira's answer silly. I found Sam's response also ignored the key issue raised -- why aren't AI firms guiding society & govts to compel us to discuss this. AGI and later ASI can fracture parts of our lives. Yet many "brilliant" AI leaders either can't fathom or downplay its many serious risks.

It's hard to beat a phone or smartwatch + headset for a device you use by pausing and ChatGPT with it. Just re-watch the movie "Her" to see where this is headed. But an assistant that helps you out before you even ask will want to see whatever you're paying attention to, so it's going to have a camera: in a badge you clip on ( a model was wearing one at a fashion show), a pendant, or maybe in earbuds. The privacy implications are insane.

Being in the AI game has shown me a lot. It's like a double-edged sword. We've got some great advancement happening, but also some worries. I'm no expert, but even I made a reasonably advanced Customer Service AI that can interact with customers, pull their information, answer their questions, and even execute actions as a result. Think about what the big players can do especially after giving it massive powers, like Vision and Auditory. We're moving fast into the AI future, way too fast. It's okay to get excited and applaud Sam and Mira, but we need to think about the big picture. My - what i consider a basic AI - could effecitvely disrupt the CX industry, and that's just a small fraction if you will. (hence I didn't release that, just as a PoC only). AI development is never going to stop, if it's anything, it'll ever keep getting better and smarter enough to render every human skill useless. I would much rather have an AI doctor over a Human doctor at this point. This is my health and longevity we’re focused on, and I’m tired of biased, homogenized requirements from dogmatic doctors just pushing pills and trying to inflate my bill every time i go in. I’d appreciate real advice, based on my real data, with no vested interest in monetary outcomes.

I’ve found it more useful than many doctors already. And more empathetic sadly. It doesn’t get annoyed that you actually want to be an informed patient and understand the conditions you have and treatment options. I understand why doctors would want to dissuade people who tend towards health anxiety from doing research but why they don’t want generally informed patients is interesting to think about (not all doctors, some are great)

Tech companies aren't talking in depth about their research and state of the art anymore. It's usually 1 inch deep response for commercial reasons. Also the target audience in this case is more general. It was interesting to see Sam's response to his relationship with Satya, he became a bit uncomfortable as they are still competing with eachother to a degree. Also being asked if they are making their own AI chips as it would be nice to see others catch-up to Nvidia
@SarahSB575
