I think even the Xiaomi 14 had better detail capture in the pavement in the other comparison with Vivo you did as well, was surprised you didn't mention it there? I agree that I don't think it's sharpening, must be a better lens or sensor? From what I've seen the main camera video on Xiaomi 14 U might be better on details than the iPhone 15 pro max.

Does not make any sense 'in sensor' zoom does not work in video. The very old Nokia 808 PureView did just that 12 years ago (its vaunted 4x zooming in 1080p), and even previous N8 and N86 were capable of take advantage of this technique. Impossible to understand...

Some of the issues are bugs which can be fixed via update, so you have to take them with a grain of salt. Phone camera comparisions are pretty salty... and not set in stone. Plus, the number of features are increasing.. so these videos can become so long as to be meaningless.
