I kills me every time people have to walk up to their ball. Why don't you put 1 or 2 - 4x8 sheets of plywood under the screen, with a 2x4 under the edge by the screen to make a slant board. Why shag balls all day when the ball can roll back to you. Put some astro turf on the ply wood to make look nice, add some padding underneath to dampen the ball sound hitting th plywood. Great tip today, Going to practice todays tip on my simulator now :)

Hi Harry very clear and concise video my question is when do you transfer your weight at the beginning during or after I have rotated the left hip back keeping sternum over the ball thanks for your help kindly advise Jack
@harryshawgolf5 годин тому
Hi Jack, pleased you enjoyed the video… The transfer of the weight will take place naturally as you’ve fired the hips keeping your sternum over the ball (as soon as your transition begins). As soon as you think (turn the hip, the weight Weill begin to transfer)
@mikebarry7387День тому

Excellent job Harry on describing how to avoid struggling in the downswing! Weight shift is a problem area for me and I have been working on the weight transfer combined with the rotation. I do work my swing around an inclined circle with a slight lateral shift before rotating my lead hip. Unless the weight doesn't shift correctly off of my right side onto the left side, I get great shots. Well Done Harry! Always look forward to your videos!

Please clarify …, in the practice you have the hands going down each side of the legs to get the correct turn etc. HOW .. when the club is in your hands do you get the club to do the correct moves ? Or are you just lifting it up ?? Could you PLEASE do a video On how the hands/shoulders work the club into the correct back swing position
@harryshawgolf5 годин тому
I use the hands either side of my legs to begin with just to understand the feel as to what it’s like to get the tilt and added rotation in the driver swing. When I bring the driver in I only do this when I know what this thought is… close your eyes doing the drill with the hands either side until you know what this feels like… then take the driver… make the same move and just allow the swing to happen. This is how you add it into the swing. Hope this makes sense!
@morganjacobsson17513 дні тому
Exactly my problem 😊 thanks for a good clip concerning this. I also work on my tempo downwards. Slow up and fast through. Whats your thoughts about that ? Swede hcp 8
@harryshawgolf5 годин тому
No problem, pleased you enjoyed the video, I like the idea of slow back and faster through. But with the downswing (faster) it all depends on how you make the swing faster (this move shouldn’t necessarily come from the arms going faster. It should be how the body initiates the downswing to make the club swing quicker without adding tension to the arms. If you’d like me to elaborate on this I’m going to be revealing a new course on some of my latest videos soon all about the downswing so stay tuned.
@morganjacobsson17514 години тому
I understand 👍 I want very much to also see a clip where you talk about the arms and elbows position in the finish of the swing (drive and long irons) 😊

On the downswing do you sway a bit then turn the front hip or just turn the hip

I found it interesting that two of the major YT channels focused on the trail shoulder this week, but they had totally conflicting thoughts! Both put an alignment rod in the trail armpit, but what they said happens on the downswing was very different. I'd like to see a video from you about this.
@harryshawgolf5 годин тому
Hi Jay thanks for sending me this interesting information. Would you be able to identify what both UKposts channels mentions regarding the trail arm with the stick under the armpit? A few sentences each would be more than enough for me to understand their concepts. Thanks!

Technically, isn't the club head going down into the ball as the grip end is rising up?

Excellent job Harry on showing how important the right elbow is in the downswing! This is something I pay attention to all of the time. Although, on occasion, if there is trouble on the right, I think my right elbow does leaves my side to avoid it and the shot is pulled. Excellent job Harry in using your student and the adjustments that you made to his swing! I have to admit, I have hit a few of those S---ks during some tournament rounds and they are embarrassing. I like the way you moved your student back slightly to give his swing a little more room, slightly raise the butt end of the club and not swing the club toward the target. Another thing I picked up on was that in the iron swing the backswing should be more vertical and the right arm should cover the right shoulder. On the downswing, the left hip fires to the left and the hands follow. I shouldn't have any problem with this move, since I swing in to out anyway. All excellent points Harry! Well Done!

@@harryshawgolf Still seeing improvements in strike location, ever battling my 20 year old habit to take the club too far inside - not to create room as in the video, but simply because of a shallow arc (have to blame my field hockey career for that I think, where one is drilled to avoid 'sticks' from an early age). Managed to get to hcp 16 developing reasonably functional wristy corrections on the downswing, but the obvious timing challenges stopped me from getting better. Took me a lot of searching YT to find a channel like yours with instructions that really help. Early wrist set by pushing off with the lead hand also helps I noticed to keep the club swinging in front of me, as long as I don't fall for the same fault as the student here, so I really need to concentrate to keep the handle pointing to the target or to the left at takeaway. I'm still seeing draws (just better compression) so I guess I still don't come over the top, even though it feels like I am pointing up the club vertically like a lightning rod 🙂. Still need to record myself once more to see where it actually is. As long as I do 3q swings I'm deadly accurate, but It's difficult still for me to get a consistent feel on where to raise the club to exactly in the full backswing. Will be seeing a pro next month to help further.

Interesting about the right knee causing an outside in swing! I tend to pay attention to where my right elbow is during the swing. I try to keep it close to my right side on my in to out swing. If the right elbow comes away from my side, it always means that I'm going to come over the top. Really appreciate your videos. Excellent explanation. Can you make a video that focuses on the correct movement of the left wrist (for right-handed golfers). I have always kept mine a bit loose and moved it to create the swoosh/whip/etc. through the ball. But many teachers seem to suggest that you keep it very rigid, back of the hand in a line with the forearm. Does this mean that the wrist should only move up/down, but never in/out (as in Dustin Johnson's cup/curl)? thnx
