Very strange Lexus didn't release a LS in smaller engine sizes like 3.0L and 2.5L for the UK / European markets. They missed a whole market of buyers who continue to buy these engine sizes in BMW, Mercedes, Audi and Jaguar.

I studied under Steve Campbell at UMN, and I remember him saying something like, "Y'know, it's never been straightforward or obvious, but we've always been able to 'clever' our way past the roadblocks." And he's right, it seems that if physics doesn't prevent it, and there's enough demand, we'll figure out a way to make any device.

Not a failure. My TI99 got upgraded with an expansion box containing memory, floppy drives, a modem, and I think a very early hard drive. It was a seriously good system, and I enjoyed it very much.

The TI99 didn't fail at all. Many people used it to start their own IT business. It was a machine meant for programming, not for playing games. My uncle used a TI99 to write accounting software for shops in his neighbourhood. The shop owners couldn't afford to buy a high-end pc with expensive software, so they also bought a TI99 and used my uncle's home-brewed solution. The lack of backspace key was a pain in the behind, but other than that the TI99 was a reliable, well-built machine.

Don't forget that Japan's semiconductor industry in the late 70's - early 80's gave the US a run for its money. So threatening it was that the US went for a full-blown trade war with Japan with anti-dumping measures against Japan, crippling Japan's semiconductor industry. This actually created an opening for Taiwan's United Micro and South Korea's Samsung to get into the game. Then came the buburu burst of the 90's, and Japan Semiconductor industry became a ghost of its former self.

Thanks for putting the video together. Some of this is plucked from the San Jose SPIE in March (which I attended). You mention in the video that a synchrotron isn't being taken seriously as a potential light source. At SPIE, xlight gave a well attended talk proposing its first cousin, the Free Electron Laser. Their proposal is a site-wide FEL to act as a central light facility for a fab. I found the proposal a little fantastical and almost crazily ambitious. However, given that someone is putting some money behind xlight, the proposal is not without backing. Also - as someone who is interested in DSA at work, I believe this would be a good future topic.
