Chris Fix would be proud. Doing disc brakes is so much easier than drums. And yes the most reliable vehicle is one you maintain and can fix yourself. I saved nearly $3,000 fixing my wife’s Infiniti by just looking up the code (it was a sensor in the transmission) and replacing the part myself. One of the best things about UKposts is wealth of DYI repair videos on multiple makes and models. Any modern vehicle should be able to do 100k with proper maintenance.

Would you test the new “restore and protect oil” from valvoline?
@HR-wd6cw15 годин тому
The one problem I have with this test methodology is that generators generally do not adjust to fuel octanes, whereas a car (which I'm assuming most people are concerned with) will. Basically put, if you ask any mechanic there is no real advantage to using higher octane unless the engine is programmed to adjust to higher octane, most won't though (particularly those that run 86/87 octane, which is probably the majority of your average cars on the road). Plus if you do the math, even if you did manage to get say 2-3 mpg more, it doesn't make sense financially no matter how you calculate it. You would probably have to get something like 10 mpg or more to make it break even in most cases and that's if you even can without some expensive modifications to the car (which would just add to the overall cost of fueling the vehicle anyway). Point being use whatever the owner's manual says as that is what your car was designed to use and how it will probably get the best gas mileage as that's how it's tuned/programmed to run. What you DON'T want to do is run a lower octane than what is recommended. I had a Porsche which had to use 93 octane (tried 87 once and it pinged really bad and lost a lot of power, so in that one I had to use 93 octane). But in all of my other cars, I use 87 (which is what's recommended -- actually 86 but we don't have 86 around here, only 87).

I sometimes use Trufuel for my generator and any tools which are likely to be stored without being used often. It’s expensive but cleaning out a blocked carb is no fun.

I have a 2009 Toyota Tacoma with 282,000 miles. It got a new short block and rebuilt head at 231,000 miles (leaking head gasket) and Toyota replaced the rusted through frame free of charges at 191,000 miles. The transmission has been service twice. Works good, I'll drive it until I croak. The body has NO rust, I live in Illinois.

Right now I just use some silicon spray on the wipers and this works quite well. The key is to have wipers that can cleanly wipe the windshield and this is something I thin kthat is missed. The windshield sprays only do so much but having clean wipers and applying some silicon lubricant to them on a regular basis (I do this about every 3-4 months or about once a season) it key and will make your wipers last longer. You can add windhsield repellants but I found just applying the silicon spray to the wipers to be enough and a can of it lasts a long time. However do not apply it directly on the wiper (don't spray it on the wiper) but rather spray onto a towel and wipe the rubber part fo the blade a few times. This remotes dirt/junk and lubricates the rubber. Was able to get about 3 years out of my OEM wipers doing this and I live in the midwest were we can have some pretty harsh summers and winters.

In 1994 I was 16 and bought my first car. I worked across town every day during the summer and had no windshield wipers and it was a wet Florida summer where it rained every day for 30 days. My windshield wipers didn’t work. After pulling over during rain for the first few days I applied RainX. I have used it ever since. I’m a true believer.

Awesome videos and a great 2023, but I'm extremely disappointed you recommended the Honda Generator. It was the best best on your tests, but the predator was almost to 1/3 the cost. Is the Honda really 3x better for the price?... no. I'd take 2 predators that are 10% worse but still cheaper than 1 Honda any day. I know you say you buy everything, but this one really has me wondering where all the money comes from...

Dumbest thing in the world!!!! I put Arco graphite in my motorcycle in the early 80’s. My dad, a brilliant engineer at Ratheon, said not to use it? As I knew better being 16 years old I put it in. Within 20 miles the wet clutch completely stopped working. The graphite separated and stuck to the clutch plates. The centrifugal effect pulled the graphite powder out, like dad said it would?
