Aha, finally someone who makes an attempt to underscore what motivates people. He is missing all of the unnecessary problems though - I don't see how anyone can miss the big, unnecessary problems, they're right in front of our faces all day every day. To begin with, how about the monstrously huge problem of the profit motive. Let's say you're in the biotech industry, making drugs that ultimately do nothing but harm to others. Obviously you're doing it out of selfish interest pushed into it by the profit motive. You're not going to want to pick up the lifeless body of your fallen competitor who killed himself with stress from competing against your druggie business for the same profit dollars, and breathe life back into him, LOL. I mean it makes for a nice hollywood drama story, but men are not drama queens. The new alphabet perverted community are, most women are, but men are not. Once again, I have a far better approach to these questions, such a familiar story it would be sickening to anyone other than someone like me who has given these questions some thought. It's no wonder he's funded by a corrupt corporation like GE, he's missing all the key points.

Re: Trust I listened also to Brene Brown about trust and how she broke down it's anatomy. I have felt also that it is in fact a feeling as well and likely coming from those constituent pieces being in place. I feel in this digital age with social media being so insidious in society trust is becoming a rare commodity for people. Mine has been pushed beyond the breaking point so often I wonder if I can trust anyone truly again.

I have to admit, I absolutely love everything I perceive of Simon Sinek, the messages he delivers, and the passion at which he presents. But I will say, from my personal experience in life, if you give most of your energy to everyone else, you will be taken advantage of and make sacrifices to what’s important to you. Such as family, kids, pets, and you individually... leading to exhaustion and frustration. Now I will also say, we in the USA, are dealing with an epidemic of Narcissism, the Me, Me, Me culture... think of all the Facebook and Instagram posts we see on daily basis... therefore this message is powerful for the majority. For the minority who have tried living their life for others mostly, we need to actually do the opposite. Put ourselves first, spend our energy with the ones who deserve it, and find peace with who we are.

I agree, in that you can't give what you don't have. So if you're already a depleted person, then what you have to offer won't be much. Therefore, to be a blessing to others, you have to start each day by filling your own cup FIRST so that if people take advantage of your abundance (whatever that looks like), you still have enough in the tank to get you to where you're already trying to go. So "getting" to "give" is definitely the way to go in my book!

Many years ago, I was hired on to a company to do a relatively menial job as a cashier in a gas station. And during the interview I was asked a question, something to the effect of how well do you work with others, or with customers etc. And I answered him with: People are fun, if you just know how to speak to them. For instance let's suppose I start my day in a truly foul mood. It's just been one of those days where nothing has gone right. What happens when I great that first person in the morning who's maybe also locked into one of those days. Well I make it a habit, to feed positivity into everyone with whom I interact. And really it's easy. You show them the respect of recognizing that they exist and are present. You speak with a slightly higher pitch in your voice. And you put some energy into this. 99 times out of 100, even if that person was equally in the pit of it just being one of those days. Will smile back, and give some positivity back to me. And in this way, my own mood is lifted. And I feed on that throughout the day. The interviewer had only one more questions for me. When can you start. Empathy (emotional empathy), is the ability to create in yourself the emotional state of the person with whom you are interacting. When we do this, our brains respond with the "What a good boy am I" response. More specifically it will release endorphins that make us feel good. It does this because we have then successfully socialized by generating an emotional state that matches our interlocular or group. It is the mechanism that drives us, and indeed all social animals, to socialize. And in fact, it is the diminishing of, or lack of, empathy that leads to everything that we think of as being negative, anti-social, or to use a much older term evil. I know that sounds like an oversimplification. But we are, far more simple, in many respects, than we think. An ex-girlfriend of mine, who was at the time living with a group of women once quipped. After a week that had been particularly vile in terms of the interactions of the group. That they needed to add an item to the weekly grocery list. That they needed to pick up a fresh can of evil. Because they had obviously used up all the stores inside of those few days.

@@MrEpsilonZero I am no longer able to work due to a rather complex disability. However yes in my day to day life, when I see people I still do this. As far as people who are always negative, I find the best policy is to avoid them whenever possible. If that is not a feasible, then keep it strictly business and don't engage on a social level at all. If they are a co-worker you can always refer the issue to a supervisor. If they are your supervisor, most companies have human resources departments that can help to deal with such issues. Sometimes, it can become necessary to find a new company to work for if no good solutions are to be found. Another area to explore that can be very helpful is to make sure that all of your self talk. That inner voice we all sometimes converse with. Is feeding you positive messages. Yes we do have control over what it says. But it can take work to untrain the negative things out and feed in the things we should be hearing instead. Look into self affirmations if this is something you recognize isn't something that's a positive in your life.

I agree with what Simon says about ''the more you're willing to give to another human being, the more they're willing to give you.'' However, these last few days I've been struggling with something that's been happening to me lately: I'm sharing this house with 2 other girls and since I moved in I've given stuff to one of the girls. One day I made her a cup of coffee, another day I gave her food, once I gave her a small bag of coffee I had bought in China. I've also brought her souvenirs ever time I went traveling. However, this girl has been helping herself on my personal things. I know she opens my drawer in the bathroom because sometimes I find it ajar. I am? very peculiar with the way I shut drawers😂. I also know she's tempered with food in my personal fridge because something was not right but I'm unable to say what she did exactly. I also know she's been eating from my expensive jar of honey for many weeks now. I have a special way to place it and I notice straight away if it is not placed the way I do. Because I know it is her and not the other girl (because she saw me eating the honey one day and the other girl didn't. I let her have a taste of it!), I stuck a message (in Japanese because she's Japanese and the other girl can't read Japanese) a few weeks ago that said: '' know you're eating from my honey. It is mine, not yours. Keep out.' But this has never stopped. I finally decided to send a group message but she's been denying her involvement (of course). This event has left a bitter taste in my mouth.I feel cheated and taken for an idiot.
