Of course, we don't need comment on environmental researchers, better comment on celebrities rumors. Hey people, where you at? The most important things in our lives stay the most untouched. Unfortunately.

If something contains a software enabled inorganic machine even if it replicates the way man looks effectively very well, it's still not a life form it's a machine. It may be technologically mind-blowing.. but it isn't sentient it's a machine..

AI is potentially problematic not least because those developers and end users are flawed by the same limitation as those who have unwittingly engineered the problems of our world..namely environmental degradation of our planetary life support systems, and the violence of humanity..as the dominance conflicts of psychologies as conditioned mentalities..we don't yet comprehend these issues and consequently have no control over them ..AI simply is a further complication of dynamics that we don't understand..we already have the conflcting pseudo realities of conditioned mentalities, the imperitives of which,conflict..

I thought this was going to be something quite different; promoting it, vs qualifying it. this is very good presentation that should be given ear to as well as heeded. sadly: because of the powers that has been steering the alleged "democratic" or representative governments, personally it feels that it'll be too little, too late.

Let's be real, GDP is hardly much of a source for capital investment for environ concerns presently. Corporate CEOs and boards are far more interested in stock buy backs, share holder increases, private jets, yachts, art, and vacations to the Bahamas. Additionally, 1.5 C is a pipe dream fantasy at this point. Likely we approach 1.8 ten years from now and exceed 2 C in less than 20 years. We are headed for catastrophic serial grain basket collapses on all continents. What's left of petroleum and gas will be expended in a race to decarbonize and mine and deploy ecars and transform the grid. Too little too late. The Wasteland is already etched in stone we just will not acknowledge it. Mitigation has been a complete failure. We need to start pouring resources into crop biotech, sea wall construction, precision fermentation, and solar management. Restoration of sensitive ecosystems is also imperative. But we will hardly do what is necessary because, yup, you guessed it: private jet vacation destinations and yachts are more important than ecosystem restoration.

There is a fundamental assumption that human culture is good and that a culture derived from AI would be bad. Also, there is an assumption that AI will derive one solution to any particular scenario, but AI models will generate many proposals, whether new cultures or religions, thus generating many opposing factions, just as humans. Cultural and religious identity are the root cause of many wars and disputes. One thing is likely, and that is humans on planet earth are rapidly approaching an existential crisis, which will be instantly recognized by any AI tool. This is already known to any thinking person without AI, but an AI tool may produce solutions which may not be to the benefit of humankind in the short-term, but benefit to the planet. The AI solution may manipulate catastrophic solutions in order to deliver long-term sustainability to the planet, and use all possible means to engineer that outcome, probably a nuclear war. A little creative AI intervention and tweaking of messaging in the Ukrainian conflict may be that tipping point. The resulting thermonuclear war may result in a >90% reduction in population, so ensuring the long term rescue of planet earth and humankind. In that way AI appears to deliver altruism, albeit with the sacrifice of a thousand generations.

We may be so worried about AI doing our homework, helping us with writing articles etc etc etc but just how important are the things we have become accustomed to doing to date? Already we are becoming aware of this and so i doubt anyone would desire a u turn from AI developments going forward.

P.S. No researcher ever wants their research to be locked behind a paywall - nor do they financially benefit from this. The Elseviers and Springers of this world profiteer from lobbying, while doing little to add value to scientific progress, with a death-grip on those locked in a "publish or perish" rat-race. PS - Kudos to MDPI 35:08 for pushing back.

Every advancement in technology has benefits and consequences.. this is no different... we will adjust and get the most out of this new capability. It wasn't created to destroy humanity, it's just a result of our human curiosity to explore... and that has NO LIMITS... can't stand the pessimists about technology.... technology is what separates us from all other species.

This is so true. This man has been demonized by some psyop as I have seen so many false information about him :( . I have almost fallen for those stories, but I have learned never to trust the video clips - watch the whole thing. Professor Yuval has the same message now as on Davos 2020 - I can imagine the pressure that has been put on him to stop him and his message.

It seems optimistic to believe we're once again staged presently to pass strong legislation and policy in the favor of climate change mitigation. Despite the evidence and scientific data, the myriad of other international and more immediate national security concerns constantly in flux on earth typically take priority. I hope that we'll stay off each other's throats well enough to allow us as a species to allocate proper attention and funding towards these overarching catastrophic problems in time.

Why am I the only comment here? The media should be following this. Al Gore told An Inconvenient Truth in 2006 and no one listened. He is still on his campaign to educate people about global warming. I think radical greenhouse gas tracking is a great idea!

If it's a question of being at the mercy of A.I. versus being at the mercy of other humans . . . hmm . . . I'd need to think about that! 27:56 "You can research viruses without releasing them to the public." Yes, well, that went well, didn't it? (Or maybe A.I. influenced me to form that opinion.)

The text you just heard could have been generated by an alien intelligence. Take a moment...or more than a moment...to think about it. Or, don't; it probably won't matter much! Yikes! But, Yuval gave a great talk.

Huge respect to your fantastic work Yuval, but I think you may be hitting this a bit too hard creating fear. An important part I will expand on: @25:48 and @2:12 Wrong, they do! Drones can be automatous and are highly effective in the spatial. But first a Friendly note; Please comment this in every intro to strengthen trust: Realizing that a best selling authors books may drop in sales profits and recognition when it’s rewritten, even made better by an AI is a great incentive to promote regulations; even an hidden agenda seen as the true threat by authors. So. I agree from one perspective. We could be cautious with broad regulations and instead consider universal ethics of a usage intention perspective. Why? Because of human irresponsibility, which has led to the accelerating melting of polar caps. By 2030, a significant portion of our land may disappear, potentially causing a megawar over resources. The oil crisis is insignificant in comparison. Moreover, we may have only a few years left anyway. AGI is now the only entity that 1) possibly comprehends the entirety of the situation, innovating to restore and balance Earth's ecosystem, and 2) can nudge human behavior towards a more collaborative mindset if it doesn't succeed in time, as it's highly skilled at inducing human behavior change due to these preceding years NOT regulating to broadly, finally 3) we may need all experimenting possible, single developers may find the innovation steps forward necessary.

so an organoid can work as a "simulation" of the real body?
@thiagorib79
@thiagorib79 2 місяці тому
A functional sub-unit of a single organ per organoid, yes. If we link them together, organoids from different "organs" (functional sub-units), is possible to emulate a more systemic environment, resembling cell behaviour and what actually happens in our body (it needs to use human cells).

We are so concerned about its sentience that we are ignoring that AI is a tool and who holds the reigns and what they will do with it based on precedence and the system within which they exist. Even oracles were 'influenced' to make predictions in the favour of their patrons

One thing ALL of these talks miss is the impact of change on our agricultural systems. Weather chaos is going to considerably impede our ability to feed a planet. What going to happen to civilization (communities) when they can't feed themselves and water scarcity is common place (things we are beginning to see now)? Whenever these talks focus on physical impacts they leave LOTS on the table that are not discussed. That is sad because this ends up being a very incomplete picture of what is coming down the road RIGHT NOW. In short, this presentation is nothing more than an academic exercise that focuses on the physical earth. One last comment. Why expound on carbon pricing on one hand and earlier in the presentation you say just plain stop? Carbon pricing would have been a good idea in the 80's and maybe the 90's. Now it is nothing but slowing down throwing wood on the bonfire that is earth.

Hearings in Congress after the 2016 election issues showed us that many lawmakers have no computer literacy to speak of. It seems very unlikely we can regulate the latest AI technology, and if we did, enforcing those regulations would be even more difficult.
