As a retro gamer, this ZPG A1 Unicorn with Helio G99 has me very interested. Battery life is key though, hoping it lasts! I think this is very impressive one in terms of gaming.

I got the 3080 for £900 and although it may seem as expensive but I've been nothing but impressed with it and my ally has replaced my old 1070 AMD gaming pc. Plays most games at 4k 60fps and in handheld 720/1080 30/60fps and been a blast so far

Hey there! Thank you for the video! I have managed to set up most of my systems, except for ps2. For reasons unknown to me, Emulation station does not show ps2 games after I have copied to its allocated folder. I had no problems with ps1, but ps2 is not showing at all. Please can someone help me solve this problem? What am I doing wrong?

Saying "even though ive used windows most of my life im lost in linux" is the equivalent of saying even though I've owned an iphone most of my life i was lost with android. Of course you are. Theyre completely different operating systems, built with completely different purposes. You cant expect to jump from one to the other and know instinctively how to use it. That's been true with any kind of software ever written since computers first existed. I dont mean that as an insult just saying you're going to have to put in a little effort.

Hopefully they will keep updating this thing and patch it up over the next year... I just ordered mine on the 17th of April of 2024 and it just shipped out so hopefully I get it here in a week or so I'm just thankful it's not the Chinese New Year and seemed to be an issue a few months back.

Im just getting into retro gaming after a general hiatus from gaming in general (I was mostly a PC gamer). Ive ordered this as my first and last "one and done" system. Do you reckon this is "endgame" for everything PS2 and under? Especially as you can change things such as the battery, potentially getting many years out of the device?

As of right now, I legit think it's the best Android option for PS2 and below (the face buttons still suck though). The only other real alternative out there is the Steam Deck, but not everyone wants/needs a Steam Deck.

My friend who is a seasoned retro gamer told me to rather spend the money and get a device that can do all the old consoles well rather than having to tinker with settings on the less powered devices. I have no intention of collecting these devices 😅 Of course the Steam Deck is an amazing system but I can't see myself travelling with it because of the size. It also sells locally for 30% to 40% more than what I paid for the Odin 2 with shipping and customs. I also have a gaming PC that can still play many of AAA titles just fine. Sorry one last question, how does the Odin handle being docked/"console" mode? Will the screen switch off and it seamlessly outputs to a monitor or TV?

Loving the long battery life on this A1 Unicorn. I can finally play through those epic RPGs without worrying about running out of juice mid-dungeon. Helio chip is quite efficient.

Sure can! If you go to the start of each section of the video there should be a label that says the platform (SNES, Genesis, etc) and below that is the name of the emulator I used in blue (RetroArch, Dolphin, etc).

Your best bet is to Google 'Citra Compatibility'. There should be a list that breaks down every game and says how well they work and if there are any problems.😁

They should put thunderbolt for it makes it life easier to connect to external graphic card a lot easier and a lot cheaper than XGM because without it it’s gonna be garbage for sure will be terrible performance so that’s why other handhelds are better than the ROG

The only thing I'd suggest to improve your videos' quality would be to add the title of each game you're testing on the screen. Besides that keep it up man, great channel!

Why did you say laptop 4090 is more powerful than xg mobile 4090 ? I think its opposite ? Becuase xg mobile has higher TDP (150w ) and i dont think laptop is more than 150 w? Also xg mobile is external . Temp better . Better performance?

I was able to figure out how to switch to retro vs Xbox controller by input however I set the “Retriod pocket controller” as my controller but none of the controls are working when I play a game. Apparently, I would need to setup the profile for each controller mode as each controller has a driver built into Retroids OS. I see the profiles options but how do I set up the profile Xbox vs Retriod?

I love my RP4 Pro. With grip, it's so nice to play. And it's powerful enough for me. Personally I think it's better than RG556. I don't quite understand how come the RG556 has become the "Best handheld in 2024" already. It's not even the middle of 2024 yet...😂

I have no idea why it doesnt work for me I checked: I have the good files*** on my sd1, the good one in sd2 When i start with both, it doesn't start (logo appears and then it shuts down) If i keep only sd1, it stars normally on stock os if anybody as an idea... *** sd1 (fat32): 3files +1folder on root (from bootloader_anbernic_rg35xxplus-master). sd2 (exfat): rootfs.f2fs + files init , both on folder "boot" (othing else except some bios and rom) Maybe something wrong with the init file but I wrote exactly the text I found

The second SD card was just formatted how did it get those other folders there ? Initially it should just have a boot folder only right ?

Correct. All the other files should appear when you boot it up with the SD cards in.

I'm currently thinking about getting one used for a decent price (for my country at least) but it's STILL pretty expensive... Worth 3500SEK/€304/$328/£260? I'm currently on a 351P, which I've been (and still am) very happy with, but it's obviously VERY underpowered so want to upgrade to be able to play up to Switch. How are the ergonomics when using the D-pad (I'm a sucker for 2D-stuff so a good D-pad is important to me)?

The d-pad is good! That's actually one of the things I look for as well. The only real drawbacks are the face buttons, which imo are too small for the device. The price is worth it given how much it can play. Just keep in mind Switch is limited by the state of the emulator rather than the console itself.

on my odin 2 using vulkan on dolphin results in black screens with audio only running on Most gamecube have to use opengl and it works great at 1080 BUT the battery drain is bad about 2 hours vs 6ish on games vulkan works on

I don't believe Xbox or Xbox 60 is possible on Android at the moment. I don't think there's an emulator for it. The Steam Deck is likely your best bet if that's your main goal.

Actually....you can play Cyberpunk 2077 on the Steam Deck and have it look just like the Series X/PS5 versions. The only difference is that you will obviously be playing at a much lower resolution. Let me explain how...and yes, it's cheating. You can play your Series X and PS5 games on your Steam Deck. Sorry, we just got one, and that is blowing my freaking mind. I played Rise of The Ronin on our Steam Deck last night, and it looked/played great. I also got to play The Master Chief Collection on it is well from my Series X to the Steam Deck. That's just so damn cool. Sorry for posting what most of you already know.

It'll take a laptop charger (65w). Wouldn't recommend to do that regularly though. It'll ruin the battery in short order

Hey! Thank you for the tutorial! I tried this and was able to open with garlic os the first time I turned it on. But now the device gets stuck on the anbernic logo screen with both sd cards in. When the original sd card is in, it works fine though. I checked the new sd card and all the files seem to be in the correct place. Any ideas on how to fix this or what could've went wrong?

Have a look at the main Anbernic SD card and see if it's moved any of the files into different folders. That's how I fixed mine.

If that's the case, you'd need to download an image of the first SD card from the Anbernic website and flash that before moving onto this guide (I think).

Totally get where you're coming from with this. Fwiw, I mentioned it in the comments and have added the model name to the description.
