You are mistaken sir. The US will NEVER allow the approx. $300 bilion to go to Ukraine. The US flat out does not want Ukraine to defeat Russia. Bottom line.

Seems like the Biden admin always picks the opposite of the best policy. From Afghanistan to Ukraine to Israel. Except actual aid, where the Biden admin requests and then drags it's feet. So... middle ground there.

The Western narrative of Russia and specifically Putin having to achieve some victory before whatever political or celebratory event in Russia has grown tiresome. It's been disproven time and again that the Russian military and political command set such dates as deadlines for themselves, instead they have always focused on sticking to their battleplans. And yet, they keep surfacing in the Western media as part of their propaganda campaign, with no sign of slowing down.

I disagree with the notion that seizing the assets removes all leverage of those assets over Russia. Up until the seizure, the frozen assets were a $300 billion dollar threat. One that perhaps Russia did not take seriously. By making good on that threat, other threats become more legitimate and get taken more seriously by Russia, thus upping the leverage of any future threats made. Furthermore, it's not like the $300 billion dollars evaporates instantly into nothing. It takes some time to spend that $300 billion. If Russia were to attempt to take legal action now to get that money back, it would likely not succeed. If it withdrew from the war however, to a point that satisfied Western governments, rapprochement could begin. Part of rapprochement might mean that whatever of the $300 billion not yet spent on the war effort could be gotten back and unfrozen. And even if the West decides to keep the seized assets as a way to force reparations, likely that's because part of rapprochement included Russia meeting reparations demands for Ukraine, and if Russia waits until the $300 billion dollars is spent on the war effort to give up, then when the reparations come due, they'll have $300 billion more to pay in reparations than they would if they withdrew immediately. That remains true even if private citizens whose assets Russia seizes sue and freeze the seize. That would create a stall, but if anything, it creates more of an incentive for Russia to withdraw immediately, as that stall will inevitably be temporary, but the question of "will they or won't they" seize is gone. Russia would know a seizure of the $300 billion is coming once the legal woes are worked out, and would have 300 billion reasons to end the war sooner so as to potentially end the seizure before it begins. I may have a few incorrect assumptions here, but at the very least, the increased leverage by making good on a threat is real, and the threat of reparations is very real and represents a cost to Russia to END the war, thus an incentive to continue. If Russia thinks they can move things favorably in their direction, they may think that they can achieve an outcome favorable enough that Western governments will altogether drop a demand for reparations as part of rapprochement. But with $300 billion dollars going either directly or indirectly into the war effort on Ukraine's side, Russia may be less confident that the outcome will be so favorable, and thus make paying reparations something that they see as unavoidable, and thus the threat of that cost increasing the longer the war continues changes the threat of reparations from an incentive for Russia to keep going until they have the leverage to avoid them, to an incentive for Russia to stop now before they become worse. I'm no expert on this subject, but my support for the seizure is based on more than a "rah rah, go Ukraine, get rekt Russia" attitude. Every angle I look at the situation from, seizing appears to have almost no possible net downside for the West, the only exception being how big that "reluctant leavers" bracket of countries is, but I think it'll be quite small. Meanwhile there appears to be no possible net upside for Russia, only less bad downsides depending on where they go from here.

1 thing I have been thinking about the scenario if the US where to suddenly stop aiding Ukraine is what the response would look like from Europe? I base this idea about the success from the first Ukrainian counter-offensive, after the offensive the russians or Putin went into desperate mesaures to secure the front he still controlled with minefields, dragons tooths obstacles, more effective trench systems and lots more defensive strategies. From that success Putin really had a fright and decided to act in a way that as of this current moment helped him stabilize the front to make sure he didnt lose the war. Now Im very concerned of the current status of the war since it looks like the russians have been able to fix a majority of the problems they had a beginning of the war and can now advance in a pase the russians seems to handle. What makes me scared is that this current trend will make it look like this conflict will take years to end and make more countries more "aid" fautiged and not be willing to aid Ukraine, in this case the US. If Trump were to make his into office and just end the aid I dont think the war will end but I would rather think this would send a clear message to the EU and its leaders that they are on their own. Which I think will both scare them and make the very nervous, wich in turn will make them take desperate measures in the ukrainian conflict. What those desperate measures could look like I dont really know but with Macron's suggestions with nato troops in Ukraine we could see something like that a reality, but It could also see something like maybe EU volunteers for the Ukrainian forces, a joint EU air command where EU sends its air fleet to aid the Ukrainians or EU straight up blockading russian harbours to prevent any trade. Its all theories at this point but fact remains that the future is still uncertain and that the EU needs to do more inorder to prepare for the future and a potential conflict, because at this state we are still waiting for the artillery production to kick in and Russia is already in a war economy so we are in my opinion in a unprepared state for a conflict with Russia so we must take desperate measures to make sure the Ukrainians can win this war.

If Trump gets in, the 22nd Amendment goes out the window along with section C of the 14th. He's already said he will be a dictator on day 1, and it may have been the only honest thing he's ever said. He will cut aid to Ukraine for sure. Europe won't be able or willing to fill the gap, and then Putin will move on the Baltics, which he will take in a matter of weeks/months. What happens next is anyone's guess, but it won't be pretty. Everything's going down the toilet if Trump wins...
