Mine made this sound literally 2 days ago, but ended up being the crank pulley sensor banging against the crank pulley. Look around for the little things before tearing the engine apart, it could very well be small like an accessory bearing, or loose sensor etc.

Make sure you delete the speaker from the airtag, heaps of guides on youtube. If you don't and someone does steal the car, the person closest to the airtag (the person stealing it) would get notified and it gives them an option to play a sound and find it, they'd then just throw it away.

While you're checking your timing belt (tensioner could be failing) be sure to check your VVT system as that can fail as well. If the maintenance is not caught up on it (oil changes with proper oil), those oil galleys in the head for the VVT can rust and cause a CEL to turn on, causing either over retard or over advanced on your timing. When that happens, and after checking everything and everything is good, usually means it's the head that failed.

be glad there's a problem because if you run out of problems to fix, there'll be a huge dopamine crash :(
@Bluelt112 годин тому
Great video series, and geeat job in the car. I agree with the other comment on the tensioner being the first thing to check.

Dude your videos are so high quality you are not getting the popularity you deserve.

Ayy, i even forgot about that comment. I think you liked it and you just never mentioned it so I thought whatever. So glad I contributed to your happiness and enjoyment.

Timing belt tensioner rattle... service your timing belt.
@abhi.velaga16 годин тому
that’s what i was suspecting but the timing belt was replaced last year so i wasn’t convinced

Enjoying these videos. Good luck on that noise.
@abhi.velaga16 годин тому
thanks!
@roastedchicken134218 годин тому
im not sure but i think the rattle is coming form the vibration of the windows in the door

What's your dash cam recommendation?
@loukou119 годин тому
Another great video :D Awesome stuff as for the engine noise I can't tell doesn't sound like lifter tick but I could be wrong. Best of luck! I'll ask a friend what he thinks (if you haven't figured it out)
@abhi.velaga16 годин тому
thanks! i’ve got it figured out now, that video comes out next week :)
@neilbank8119 годин тому
pick up some dynamat or hushmat. put on the inside of the door. While having the panel off already, make sure everything is tightened etc. Also a good chance to lubricate window rails etc while your in there.
@neilbank815 днів тому
Lol you're like 1 year ahead of me. I was literally on the phone with Matt 3 hours ago. Hoping to buy my NB in a couple of months

I just recently re-did my entire 2001 with diode dynamics LED's. I did literally every bulb, including the guage cluster and hvac (except for 2 red bulbs in the cluster that have to remain incandescent). I even added in marker lights for the rear and they look great. Diode dynamics bulbs are awesome, butthey are oem brightness, so for those wanting to get a suntan from their led's, they may want something different. I'm really thrilled with them and highly recommend. It was pricey.. the conversion cost me about 500 bucks, most of that cost being the low and high beams.
@abhi.velaga5 днів тому
nice! yeah i trust that they’re good quality because FM sells them, i actually need to replace my hvac lights which dont work
@michaelhutchinson51585 днів тому
The HVAC lights were the most complex. Mine is a 2001 which meant the bezels are red colored on the back… not fun because I wanted blue. I had to purchase new bezels and do some glueing to change to blue. I think that pre-2000 did not have red bezels so you can simply put any color bulbs you want in them. I hated the red lights in the gauge cluster and hvac and the blues are so much prettier.

5:22 reminds me of when I was rebuilding my whole ass suspension. The tight fitment was brutal and having to count threads on my heim joints.
@tomcom47 днів тому
Thank you for using the proper leds! can't stand people with cheap LEDs in halogen housings. Also, don't be too hard on yourself, I've always found changing bulbs is difficult (tight places, mostly)...
@shoof16967 днів тому
I bought my first set of led at O'Reillys. Those Sylvanias had the same problem. I ended up buying a 55w HID kit. It's way brighter than any led kit for the price. I found a website called bulb facts and compared my budget of $80.00 to the best hid kit they reviewed. LED tech has got way better through they years but I don't know if they can put out the same lux as a 55w HID

Looks like your description is describing the last video instead of the topic for this one. Great upgrade with the lights, absolutely worthwhile. I understand your struggle, just finished up retrofitting projector lenses to my Seat Leon with LEDs after a million setbacks.. but the end result was worth it, the light is SO much better, it's crazy :) interesting difference with the Euro cars, those sidemarkers do not have lights in them. Also the turns signals do not light up like this at all (as DRLs?). Always found that funny with US cars.
@abhi.velaga7 днів тому
ha thanks for that catch! nice, its amazing how much better it makes it. i didn't know about those differences, weird that it'd be omitted.

@kobracartel14 днів тому
Yeah, sounds good. I might get one now. Are you going to update the stereo?
@abhi.velaga14 днів тому
yeah i want to but im doing research right now, id like to start by getting a double din carplay head unit with a nice big physical volume knob but that doesn’t seem to be a thing 🙃 they all seem to have cheap feeling up and down buttons instead so im not sure what im gonna end up doing
@hugofahrenholz622514 днів тому
hell yeah sounds great!! I would’ve gone mad looking for the issue lol, can’t wait for the next episodes!
@Bluelt114 днів тому
I've had big exhausts on V8's and the drone on some will give you a headache. Literally. I think you're smart to do the muffler you did. Now I might need that same muffler for my 01 Miata!

My 1998 NB was at the bodyshop for the past tweo weeks to remove the rust on the rear sills and lower front fender by replacing the inner panels... and now I want exactly this wheel/tire combination and a really similar exhaust...

@danchristian728220 днів тому
Maybe I missed it but are you working under the car only supported by the jack?? Always use jack stands!! Cheers 🍻
@abhi.velaga20 днів тому
oh no - it’s supported by 4 jack stands, the jack is only there as a backup for safety
@jacksondotter14920 днів тому
i can somewhat confidently say that that’s not a noise caused by the new exhaust. it 100% sounds like a moving part, think wheel bearings, rotors, axle, etc. maybe differential but that is really loud and you’d probably be able to feel something wrong too if it was
@MollyPopper20 днів тому
Hey whats the name of the first song that plays at 0:56 ?
@abhi.velaga20 днів тому
its one of my own songs - 'Lost in Anxiety' that i released under my solo project name, Indulgent. here's the spotify link open.spotify.com/track/7Jr3vzJVJItOjOkn6folDQ?si=3d2af9e1bc8844ae

@abhi.velaga20 днів тому
i wish i could have, i did this install in the middle of the night 🙃
@SportyPompano20 днів тому
@@abhi.velaga haha oh geez, that's what I thought when it wasn't included haha. I've done exhaust stuff on my minivan, but it happened to be during the day so I was able, and it sounded sick haha, also one time it came disconnected so I had to drive across town with no muffler and it was so funny to see peoples reactions lol, I do have a video of me starting it up if you wanted to hear it haha
@mihaiserbanescu867620 днів тому
this looks like a pain to do. might as well buy new ones.
@mihaiserbanescu867620 днів тому
next time something is this stucj, try heat. it will make the metal expand a little allowing the ball joint to be released easier.
@RaiderOfTheLost20 днів тому
Well done for learning my guy
@mihaiserbanescu867620 днів тому
if you think it`s too much light, you could potentially sacrifice one of the sun visor lights for a gopro mount. I think it was jass performance that did a gopro mount that bolts where the sun visor bolts in. It could be a nice angle, but haven`t tried it yet. I just thought it would be interesting for others to know too.
@vincentoden862520 днів тому
another thing u can do to make it sound good is taking the middle muffler out and putting a dual pipe muffler on instead of the rear one. thats what i have on my nb2 and it sounds great. almost nu trumpet sound and it has areally nice deep idle noise
@Bluelt121 день тому
Future tip - put the nuts on the ends of the bolts when you hammer them out so you won't mess up the threads. And kudos to you for learning and taking on this project. Great job! Oh, and the sound could be the new muffler or pipe is somehow contacting the undercarriage. When it's cold, get under there and try to shake the muffler and see if it is rubbing anywhere.
