I like living in a high trust society. You notice how people who don't live in such societies seem very vengeful and ugly in their attitudes towards their common man. They also tend to use their government as a scapegoat when stronger non privatized public institutions are probably exactly what theyre society needs more of. High trust is not naivete. It's a sign that you live in a good society. And low trust perpetuates itself into more antisocial behaviours and attitudes. Everyone should ideally live in a high trust society.

I have long agreed with Tooley on most points. I do not believe in the inalienable right to life beyond what we collectively assign. All of my views on morality are inherently selfish, as I believe to be universal. The only reasons we tolerate other individuals or groups competing for our own resources are pragmatic ones. Cooperation, laws, and compromises, politics and currency, all of it is about trying to construct the most agreeable system to work out which individuals get access to the most resources. From this, all else stems. The way I see it, the abortion question is all about the underlying question of "who cares if this thing lives?" We, at least in the USA, place 100% of the responsibility for the infant on the parents. In this way, they are no different than a fetus. Societally, any newborn is as useful as any other. The only persons assigning any specific...let's call it "potentiality", to any individual newborn are its caregiver(s). To that end, I only care about it insofar as much as I respect that *they* care about it. If the caregiver(s) do not want it and it cannot be expected to survive on its own, I see no reason why they should not be allowed the option to cease its existence. It is, at that point, as much a conceptual member of society as an embryo, a fetus, or patient in a vegetative state. If we as a society decide that we wish to take a vested interest in a newborn's continued existence, then society at large must accept some responsibilty for it. We haven't, or at least we have dedicated very few resources to it which is basically the same thing, so stop complaining so much about other people's choices that don't affect you. You don't care about that baby. That said...we have to draw a line somewhere. An hour after birth? A day? A year? Age 16? There comes a point at which society at large is willing to assign some value to an independent member of it. But I have come to accept the fact that that point is, largely, arbitrary. I suppose if I had to pick, it's when the child can answer the question "do you want to live?" for itself in the affirmative. Before that point it has no agency, and thus no choice in the matter. The same is true for suicidal people, comatose patients, or those in a vegetative state. Either we, as a society, decide to devote the resources towards keeping that person alive in the hope that they will contribute in future, or we leave it up to the ones that care about them to do something about it. Obviously it gets complicated when you try to judge the value of a fully formed, self-actualizing individual, but the conversation starts in the same way.

Slavoj Zizek talks about love as being something that can truly help us break from the consumerist cycle of late stage capitalism. According to him it should ruin and disrupt your life. And that's a good thing. It shouldn't be commodified.

Deeply disappointed in your character after watching this video. How can you possibly compare natural normal consensual relationships to animal abuse, for one? I am sickened and repulsed that you would even give a shred of credibility to these bigots by putting the onus of avoiding offence on the *victim* instead of the willful bigot. The pathetic sycophants licking your boots in these comment sections are keeping you in an echo chamber. Surrounding yourself with enablers is grotesque. I won't be making the mistake of watching your channel again.

How can you argue with the statistical fact that Asians are the most successful group in the United States? White Americans on Avg. would need to be the top performing group in the United States and that alone dispels the notion of structural white supremacy! In terms of hierarchy they’re NOT at the top performing group. Cultures value different things and ALL racial demographics white, asian, black, etc. can be subdivided… those cultural values show where success lies.

Recently the cbc radio played a news segment that very much upset me. After foreign aid workers were airstruck by the idf in covering the death of canadian aid worker they said she had "died in palestine". Something about the dehumanization of the death of not even just foreign victims but a canadian victim themselves on canadian news for political purpose felt completely disgusting. I feel like the inability to use words like suicide/murder/death on many platforms is a tool of oppresion wherein we as the oppressed cannot use the language necessary to describe our conditions accurately.

There is no value to honesty devoid of kindness. To live one's "truth" is inherently less valuable if you do not learn to be kind imo. The pursuit of kindness trumps "self-actualization" because how can a whole person be unkind.

You are like that and okay with that, but what if a person is just doing it for the sake of being nice and being pushed over by the people and doesnt feel good being "nice" as you label, Ifeel being selfish is good but thinking about the community is also important not the extend that you are being used by people

Eurocentric worldview poses charity and paternalism as the way to be a “good person”. It’s also what the “left” that you’re talking about promotes. The reason why Reuben looks so bad, is because he stands for that hollow pointless version of leftism. All cops are bastards, racism, these are all addressing systems, systems the “left” still want to uphold. “Systemic racism doesn’t exist from a “left wing” commentator makes me want to throw up” Really what this “left” does is mythologize a superiority complex. Rather than putting the responsibility on us to radically change society to award people the tools and support to determine their own emancipation, we are taught to (essentially do nothing) work within the system and give up peanuts of ‘generosity’ and ‘kindness’ from our position of power so we can feel good about ourselves while contributing nothing. Right and left, neither side in the west represents what well meaning people actually want. But the issue is not extremism, it’s the lack of it. The left is kinda being represented as these feckless idiots in this video, and it bothers me that this narrative of “people on either side are bad”. Because radical leftists and people who rightly support tolerance with fervor, are portrayed here as equally as bad as grifters like Jordan Peterson. Also the burden is not on the oppressed to appear palatable to the oppressing class. No radical movement has ever succeeded by pandering.

Great video but two really small nitpicks. One, the barista is paid to be nice as a worker in customer service. And two, complaining about things doesn't just attracts bigots, it attracts people mad at bigots who they think you are catering to. Trust me, ive tried to open dialogue about how women can really suck as partners and its always incels or people reacting like you are an incel even if you use the least offensive and most feminist affirming language. Very few want to talk about how social pressures are making it virtually impossible to strive for the feminist ideals right now. Its honestly led me to just stop interacting entirely on really any topics. It may sound weird but asking where someone comes from 1. Makes your arguments more sound and less strawman and 2. Allows one to not jump to conclusions about the nature of the other person. You can find even Unironic Nazis that support LGBTQ if you look hard enough. That may be an extreme example but i do generally think nuanced dialog is dead and no one has the attention span anymore to sit and hear someones full opinion first before deciding to take offense

I'm middle Eastern somewhere in Asia but so divided from it. Here we also have the Clourism of east Asians,the whiter someone is the better they are treated. I see this in my family and community, like when I was smaller i was lighter in skin and so when relatives see me the comments shock me with how blatantly racist they are.also here is so racist, saying the n-word is used so easily by teens but the adults talk about 'blacks' as if they are animals. As a child with a skin that 'changed' i didn't know what i was untill i found the term middle Eastern though i didn't like it because it had the terroristic allegations stuck to it so i said i was asian and i was right in a sense and wrong in another way, so people would say the label asain doesn't fit me. I hate the fact that white people are 8 percent of the world but their ancestors have changed the world so much in favor of them to the point where white supremacy can be seen to a degree in any place in the world .

But it's difficult to say out loud cuz people hear "I take what I can get" and immediately assume it means that whatever I have isn't that good or that I've "settled" for someone. But that's a completely different sentence. I'm not putting up with my partner. I adore them, and my mindset is what allowed me to give them a chance in the first place

This video went on for over 38 minutes and she never got around to explaining how exactly "White Society" is oppressing minorities. You think she could have given -some- examples of these things if they were so incredibly important to her. Somethings that have happened in the past few decades, not generations ago. Which is what people always do. Very dishonest and disconnected from current day circumstances and problems. She also neglected to mention all the ways we've tried to compensate for and make amends for all these past misdeeds with things like affirmative action. And it's utterly laughable how she brings up Asian violence and the LA riots, yet doesn't at all mention who did those things to Asians. The large majority of it was *NOT* done by whites. Shame on her.

I use self estrangement naturally as a defense mechanism. I haven't fully figured out whether it is good for me but it's definitely not all good, it naturally comes with this detachment from emotion and not allowing yourself to feel them. I think I actually want to move away from the whole thing a bit. It does however seem to hold up pretty well as a defense mechanism, I'm trans but because my body literally feels like a stranger's body to me, I rarely feel dyshoria related to it. I might have to unpack all that in therapy though. (According to Freud's whole gang this would just be suppressing stuff that needs to come out eventually). For me the whole thing wouldn't really be a goal worth going for, at least not in the way it happened to me, but if you're stable enough and doing it on purpose - and only to some extent, I think it could be useful.

There is no such thing as objective “justification”. The only “justification” necessary to do any particular thing is the fact that you exist, we are in the largest open sandbox that we know in existence. There is no such thing as being “justified” because there is no objectively established standard to measure behaviors by. Fixating on justification is pointless. Focus on outcomes, not precedence necessary to justify acting on producing particular outcomes.
@djzip9231
@djzip9231 2 дні тому
There is no proper metric for significance or “meaning” both are relative and do not objectively exist. In my opinion, pointless worries. There is no degree of importance among one thing or another, everything just is. This does not command some sort of doomed perspective from me because I see the world this way nor should it for others. There is no necessity for purpose or meaning, purpose is just “why” nobody should have to tell you why you are living or why you have x job or why you pursue x goal, you just do these things and that’s all it is. Whether or not your life is meaningful can only be answered subjectively really, by yourself, and even then to me it’s still a silly thought process. In terms of objectively meaningful of course your individual life is not “meaningful” it is simply just a life, not good or bad, not meaningful or not, just a life. Do what you will, see what you wish to see, eat what you wish to eat, you are in control of nothing except yourself and that’s hardly even an idea in line with reality. Worrying about importance of life, purpose of life, and meaning in life to me are useless. There is no necessity to have any of these concepts present in life to begin with so why trip about it. I’ll finish the vid now anyone reading this have a great day.

I know this is a two year old video and you’ve probably changed a lot, but the usage of “liberal” and “leftist” interchangeably is really irking me to the point where I can’t finish the video. Liberals are just right of center, which is why it’s so easy to become radicalized further right. Leftists would be your socialists, communists, and anarchists.
