I think it would look cool, if you got the water / goo to break up automatically.. like rapid fire machine gun droplets. This could perhaps be done with a rotating disc with hole / holes for the water to come through. Kinda like a minigun. If this were to be done, i think it would be essential to have control over the rate of droplets (speed of rotating disc). Perhaps it would even be useful to have more discs, with different hole sizes

I think that the reason why the laminar flow creates less visuals, Is that the goo medium is acting as such a stable conductor it’s more like a wire connection, when it isn’t laminar the energy has to jump between streams of goo i.e arking. Maybe the reason why the smaller laminar flow situation did have good visuals was because the ratio of energy to the size of the stream causes the energy to want to jump and arc out further onto the stream, while the thick goo ropes can fully contain any arcs. Just a wild guess.
