It would probably increase the thrust, but only if additional fuel was added to take advantage of the additional oxygen availability.

Nice experiment! You want to know why it failed? You built it to fail. You have to many variables going on first off. Some are unnecessary. The gas test for example was moot. You only proved that your carb works fine😂 It doesnt know that HHO is being introduced so its just doing what the float and jets tell it to do. If anything the little bit of HHO made it burn the fuel mixture more efficiently. Your generator failed because its not big enough to produce enough gas to work. It would need to be about 4x bigger than it is. Even with a bigger generator, you have it installed wrong. You cant just run a tube to the intake and call it a day 🤦🏻‍♂️. You either need to up the amount of gas being made, restrict the outside air down to a lesser amount or create a forced induction system to inject the HHO so you get a more equal HHO/air mixture. You would have better results making a direct port injected unit.

the fact that augmentor can almost DOUBLE the thrust of a pulsejet is mind-blowing. Just a simple bucket at the tail end and BAM, now your engine is supercharged.

Eons ago I was a laboratory assistant at our local college. We had a Desk top Pulse Jet engine that I would Demo for the students , every week I had to set up this small pulse engine (30 inches long!) just outside of the Lab . To start this engine I used a large bicycle pump and a sparking plug . After only a few attempts it would start and the crowd of watching students would move further and further from this InGodly LOUD device . I would let it run for a full minute . I Hated doing this one task because it was SO LOUD !! This was just a small pulse Jet yet I never want to start one again !

After getting your pulse engine working better, put it on a rail (race car) and see if the added thrust makes the rail go any faster in the 1/4 mile…augment the rail.
@inlandchris1
@inlandchris1 День тому
What if you put 2 parts hydrogen to one part oxygen instead of the fuel mixer you have now. Control the explosion to the rear and pulse that baby. If works, you would have something much better than the augmenter.
@TechIngredients

That's basically the operation of the pulse detonation engine. It has to be built heavier, and there are some other tricks that we'll cover with that engine.

Fascinating stuff! I've always loved those little turbojets, but been unimpressed with the awful fuel consumption to thrust ratio. I've always wondered what would happen if you engineered and fitted a 3:1 planetary reduction gearbox up front and attached a fan, something like you see in electric ducted fans models up front. A 130mm+ ducted fan blade would probably give a substantial boost in thrust. Only downside is that you'd need to take off the front electric starting mechanism and create a homemade airstart system. I reckon you could increase the thrust by at least 25% this way.
@TechIngredients
@TechIngredients День тому
Gearing to the engine would be more challenging than the engine itself. Alternatively, I've been playing with an unusual turbine concept in the exhaust flow. To efficiently extract rotational work with a typical turbine, the tip speed needs to be close to the exhaust velocity, and that means huge diameters or gearing to convert high speed/low torque into something useful. Rather, incline the blades only a few degrees. The jet's free thrust is only slightly reduced, and the turbine disc can spin at practical speeds with high torque.

about 100k rpm. Imagine. I don't care about the horsepower, but the hiss! Multiple stage compression would be cool of course. But whatever, just faster! Faster and afterburning! Like 8k limit in a car. You shouldn't go there. But you want to. Badly :)))

I feel like Alex's slimline ear defenders are unlikely to be suitably rated for such loud sound pressure. He should really be wearing double wall ear muffs like they wear at airports on the flight line. They're not even that expensive and it's important you choose the right rating for the application

I suppose a muffler would defeat the purpose? Fan gets more power, but you're not going to have an engine long at red. I suppose you could strap some coolant tubes and have a radiator to keep hoses and what-not at safer temps longer. My worry at this point with the red temps and the engine pressure would be your fuel pump pressure and lines. I need to go back and watch how you're separating fuel pressure.

There has been a disturbing trend toward distrusting scientists lately, and for good reason. To top it off, the scientists complain about the lack of trust they created! If all scientists were like TI, that trust would never have been lost. True scientists don't fear and hide failures, they know they can be just as valuable as successes!
