Not enough air circulation in that room for the freeze dryer. Move it out into the shop.

what you said about only raising 100 onions because thats all you might eat is really telling about where you are and where you're going and what its all about. That was an enlightening thing you said.

Most solar power builds can handle anything except an on demand electric water heater, 14 to 30kw per hour. A clothes dryer uses 1.4 to 5kw. That dryer had no specs online so maybe 220watts?

Good thinking about how to preserve you extra food items for the shortage times of the year !...
@tammysarrazin-ux9tv5 годин тому
Gina its easier to make a bunch of eggs then fill up the pans in the freeze dryer maybe a big pot then carry that and better chance of not loosing or spilling hugsss
@tammysarrazin-ux9tv5 годин тому
great value over time the amount you save on no rotten foods it great Jason and Lorraine did tons and tons of eggs and all kinds of things you can do a side hustle if you want making candies freeze dried its a big thing now a days and you can make a bunch of money literally buy a bunch of candy and put in freeze dryer and then bag them and can sell for like 6 or 7 bucks a bag and the taste awesome have fun and try all kinds of things to see what you do or dont like hugssssss

I've had my HR FD 2 years now, and love having another food preservation process. There is a learning curve. One, it will change the temperature in the room it is in by 10 or more degrees, so having it in a cold room would probably not be a good idea if your goal for the cold room is long term veggie storage. 2, keep a better drain valve on hand for when the one that came with your machine fails and you get an error code. 3, program an extra 24 hours extra dry time so you don't have to worry about not being by the FD when the cycle ends. 4, take out as much oxygen as you can b4 sealing your mylar bags, and add another seal above the first seal. Don't ever package cold or icy food. The FD will go into freeze mode at the end of the process if you don't get to the machine when the run ends, don't package it cold. 5, keep an eye on your ice rings and make sure they go all the way front to back on the chamber walls, if they don't you probably have a freon leak. 6, get extra trays and tray lids 7, fat in milk will cause FD milk to go rancid quickly 8, FD milk duds are really, really good Have fun!

You can glass fresh eggs in buckets to use through winter as well.

Good afternoon Al and Gina! A great day at the homestead! The freeze dyer will really make it nice this winter when you are eating fresh veggies, eggs and fruit! Will you be putting up fencing around Gina's secret garden? Hugs from N.C..❤

That freeze drier will be such a game changer for y’all. Brutus will be such a good guard dog and a garden keeper as well lol

I have had a HR freeze dryer for several years. Note: you will be putting a LOT of heat into your cold room. You probably already know but just in case...
Is there a reason for the names George and Miles, just curious. Or is it the names they were born with?

You're probably the fifth family we've seen with one of these freeze dryers and I remain unimpressed with them. To me, just dry foods with the sun.
@annwithaplan97667 годин тому
I've had the medium FD for about 3 yrs now. I usually freeze my stuff ahead of time. Sometimes, even pouring the liquid into the trays while they're in the freezer. It's a lot easier transferring them to the FD that way, too. Sometimes I'll toss the eggs or whatever into the food processor and make the freeze dried stuff into powder before bagging them up.

Don't waste the bread! Put it through the food processor and make bread crumbs! Great for breading food to be fried, or for topping casseroles!

An excellent choice for long term storage, and very handy to boot! The wasted hay, which isn't wasted at all, is a great idea. We used to cut red stem hay and walk through the pasture spreading it by hand. 😢🙄, lovestock is much more easy. Love ya'll ❤️

man every time I look at your guys homestead, I am just blown away. If I was use I would definitely run a pipe under the ground over to the garden area, now or someday in the future and I would put a few spigots around that feels, for there is very little walking to get water makes the job much easier, you guys have got a homestead like any prep for or anyone that wants to live off grid you have got the King daddy of all farms I see on you to. And the potential 500 acres my God. I'd have a dude ranch I'd have all kinds of stuff like that. But wow thank youse for such a entertaining platform, that I enjoy very much.

Obviously Gina was not ever in the Service.If she had been she would never get excited over dried eggs ! LOLLooks like it will match the color of her other appliances very well. Way cool to see it in action.Never would have thought bread would remove the NEW smell like that .
