I am using the original vga lib. It can't run 800x600 when using wifi, getting buffer alloc fail. I would like to use '2bit' mode to reduce the buffer size so it will fit. I am actually replacing the backlight on my lcd with red leds, so there is always 'red' on full, so only 4 colors, black, red, yellow, magenta. I prefer the higher res instead of more colors. I checked memory space, it shows 281k available before vga init, with wifi it drops to 221k, so it seems I could make 2bit mode fit? Essentially the red bit in 3bit mode would always be 1. I'm going to try and hack it, but if anyone could help I'd appreciate it, I am a bitluni surprised there was not a 1bit mode already to reduce buffer size.

So I got 2bit mode working..was difficult to follow the source code, but after many hours, got a 800x600 2bit display with plenty of ram left. Even got a 900x600 mode to work as the lcd is a typical wide screen. The vga2bitI works but with wifi running, the vga signal timing has trouble keeping sync with the lcd display. I'm quite discouraged after all the time invested that it doesn't appear viable. I have PI's, but they use hdmi output. I am now wondering if I can just use another esp-01 for the wireless interface, but it needs to send the data to the esp32, esp01 uart can the esp32 handle it while running high res vga?

This just blew my mind. Everything about it. The Presentation, examples, explanation, shots, editing, and method used to impart understanding on this topic are just… It’s just art at this level. also… The rolling pin got me.

Same technology used at the lab where I worked 50 years ago to steer seismic arrays, spread out over hundreds of miles, to locate earthquakes. Obviously can't pick up seismometers and move them about, but phased array math does it just fine. Good collaboration of geophysicists and electrical engineers.

Saving monthly energy costs trough an investment that will pay pack in time and provides free energy is not hoardy imo.

5 years now, but still must comment, GREAT WORK!!!! Have race status display needed and pile of vga lcd's hacked with super bright red led backlight, just need to send data to it, plain red text. perfect almost free display and wireless too. sweet!

0:33 I have got completely the same model of Sony Trinitron (also 14 inch), which was used in the late 1990s and the early 2000s by my older sister (I am 25 and she is 41 now), but after the analogue television switch-off it remains almost unused. Our unit is stored in our garage, but unfortunately, it is actually much dirtier than that on the photo and needs thorough clenaning!

i wish the us had such allowances for adding small panels with smart inverters. saw a video in california how a homeowner had to pay 20k for a contractor to install a ghetto 3kwh system with no storage on shelby churches channel. maybe $1800 worth of solar but she had to pay 20k for licensed install and permitting. really destroys the pay back period. i recently installed 200wat of flexible panels on my ev since there is no permitting needed and EV electricity is one of the most expensive. very simple setup wired into the 12v system but still offsets the consumption of the highvoltage battery. surprised no one else has really done this oneline. 11-18mo payback period. couldnt get such returns investing

Perhaps more arc in rotation and closer to the object in this scenario? It may provide more detail.

I had a look at Aisler... not as cheap as the PRC people, but, having actually run a business doing electronic design and development, their pricing structure makes sense, seems quite transparent. It might be a plan, if you feel ok with it, to give the price for a board that you are building? For me, I guess it would be interesting for a bare board price, on a board that's reasonable to assemble in a hobbyist lab, and a price for a fully built board, including their sourcing and mounting of components. The setup fees stack up a bit, but compared to damage to boards or components, trying to do it "at home" 😁

It's so crazy that we can get custom silicon these days(granted, with a 9 month lead time). Wouldn't be surprised if this gets better and better and in twenty years, we'll have places like PCBway giving you custom chips to go with your custom boards.
