Thanks for the insight implementation. Love it. I have a question about the PARA. In your implementation, it looks like the area grandpa of project, i.e., project --> goal --> area. However, what I thought area should be a sibling of the project. Could you explain a bit on that? Thank you.

That way of making custom commands to make a copy of a whole node and put it somewhere, and making buttons associated with a tag to run that command is the greatest outlining tool I have ever seen, and I would never have known it was there; thank you SO MUCH!!!!!

Took me a bit to figure out, but if anyone else is curious, items only become links when they are references in Tana. So if you have cards that are children of the published nodes, publishing them will not turn them into links. They have to be a node somewhere else and then must be references under the published node. Then publishing them turns them into links.

Great walkthrough! More of a Tana how-to question: How do you easily and effectively merge for instance duplicate topics? Every so often I tag something with a topic that already exists, and I want to clean that up quickly, and move multiple highlights from one topic to another. PS: It's *Herman* Melville ;)

Hi @cortexfuturatools, I just read through the paper that you linked to. Just to make sure I am understanding, what Prof. Chan calls "Observation" note, you call evidence, what he calls "Synthesis Note" you call a claim (since it is supported or opposed by the observation notes), is that correct? Prof: Chan even has a picture from his Roam notes where he writes "Synthesis Note (Claim)".

Fantastic overview of an application that has the seed to an important set of ideas -- and yet has so very very far to grow. A bullet point list is not a knowledge graph. Calling every entry a node does not create a knowledge graph either. We have so many copycat applications in this space, has anyone found one that is reasonably complete? Thus far they are toys; the functioning examples of Notion, Coda, Obsidian (maybe?), and so on suited to narrow sets of tasks rather than creating and navigating a useful graph of entities that can subsequently be used to do work and research. Considering only the knowledge store side of these products, If all we need is a multi-dimensional graph for the information, we have plenty of database products that do this already. This product is based on one. Tana, as shown thus far, provides a limited interface to enter and browse data. There is nothing to manipulate or do research or work that we cannot already get from existing databases and the applications that use them. We need to be able to operate on data and other objects, and to subsequently create workflows around them. The power of the graph is that it is multi-dimensional, not tiny slices of 2-dimensional snippets! This is hardly more useful than placing all our information in 2-dimensional spreadsheets. Even that would do more as we could then at least link the entities (via the spreadsheet cells) to each other and subsequently perform functions on ranges of cells and link the results of these to each other. We did this in the very early years, creating games in the very first spreadsheets. There is of course, no point to doing this as we can simply create and query the graph itself today. So what does this product intend to be when it grows up?

That's amazing! Found your channel and got sold to Tana, even though I'm new to outline apps and a longtime Notion user. Quick question - When should one create a concept/reference with `@` sign as opposite to sticking a #Supertag at it. In your exemple you show @Amazon concept/entity/reference, but seems that would also work with #Amazon too. Tnx!

TL/DV; Introduces a note-taking technique called QCE (Question, Claim, Evidence) and demonstrates how to implement it in the note-taking app Tana. QCE helps structure thinking and synthesizes information for a deeper understanding of any topic. #### Highlights - 📚 QCE (Question, Claim, Evidence) is a powerful method for note-taking. - 🏛 Tana is a useful app for implementing QCE. - 💡 QCE helps identify gaps in understanding and gather evidence to support or oppose claims. - 🤔 Questions are the starting point for research. - 💡 Claims are possible answers to questions. - 📖 Sources provide evidence to support claims. - 🔍 Live searches in Tana help organize and access related claims and sources.

I started watching your videos and leaning more about Tana and I must say I'm stoked by it . I'm an avid(hardcore) Notion user, but started to hype about Tana and Heptabase recently. One thing about Tana to me is that the Outline paradigm seems to take the long format notes away. As a Software Engineer, it's common for me to add system design notes, troubleshooting sections or overall service's notes. How do you setup/mold your mindset so to transcribe from one to another (maybe not so much Tana question lol) . Right now I do use P.A.R.A system within Notion, along side with Wiki structure for trainings and courses I take, and sparse notes about 1:1/Meeting notes I like Notion, but sometimes I feel I'm working for the tool, not the way around. I'm currently evaluating other options, being Tana and Heptabase my top 2, so any words of wisdom would be super appreciated :)

Very nice system. You have invested lots of thinking in it. I'm still unclear about the specific advantages of Tana compared to other note-taking tools like OneNote or Evernote. As far as I can see, those tools can achieve similar functionality, and might even be easier to use. Currently, Tana seems unfinished and underdeveloped. To help me understand the value of Tana, could you please provide specific examples of its unique features and benefits that are not available in other tools? This would be helpful in clarifying why Tana might be a better choice for certain situations.
