Hiya. I am obviously late to the party, but is there any difference between this UM790 model as compared to the less expensive UM780, aside from the very slight clock bump? If note, since I will be Occulinking this to a 7900XTX, that clock bump is essentially irrelevant to me, I think. Arguments against this thought process?

@@ServeTheHomeVideo 10TB Micron 9300 ssd is around $400 in bulk which would only be $2400 for 60TB or so. The all your eggs in one basket is a poor data storage paradigme too... I guess if you need to pack as much storage as you can in a small space...But 3000!
@ServeTheHomeVideo4 години тому
@@user-il6zz9nw4r The 10TB USED Micron 9300 listings for $325-$400 are actually 3.84TB drives that are being mislabeled with 10TB in their title (10TB is a very uncommon capacity.) You would also then need 16 drive bays and 64 PCIe lanes, and would have a 16x higher drive failure rate plus 16x connectivity failure rate (PCIe lane, cables, connectors, power and so forth.)

It's got the ports to run 10Gb but can the chip handle the compute intense workload of running Suricata or ZenArmor? The single-core perf looks pretty low.

Also not only are those PCIe cards hard to service and unpopular they were horribly expensive back just before all of these SSDs were out on the market. Now look. You can buy drives cheaply. Just beware of knockoffs, fakes and counterfeits. They do exist now and they are horrible. They could only be worse if they came crammed full of malware!! Though you will still get less than the capacity on the label it doesn't take much to store malware sadly so it can be hiding anywhere. This malware is not just annoying but it might steal credentials and login cookies thus causing potentially a lot of financial misery. If you ever suspect you may have ran anything like that unknowingly or otherwise keep an eye on ALL of your accounts!

They ALL need to be listed on a spreadsheet for easy comparison and sorting by what ever spec's or features we're looking for. And add to the spreadsheet as you review more. Also really need to see the handling of the POE's full loaded and stress tested. Have you thought about running a cable around your house a dozen times and see how the switches and hubs handle it?

I heard a new SCARY one yesterday.... Major System Infrastructure Industry being blocked by VMW to not allow redistribution of VMW. So the systems they would build, designed for VMW, they cannot install VMW and have the end user buy licenses... Sound more like the end of VMW.... maybe BComm trying to smash the hand that feeds them...

@@Voigt_Analytics Sure, but the cheap monitors have DP, HDMI, and VGA. We bought a few on Amazon for under $100 new for the Scottsdale Studio. I've been using Beelink MiniPC's since November of this last year. I built two (for Family members) dual booting machines with Windows 11 on the SSD (1 unit I upgraded to a 4TB NVME SSD) and Batocera (adding a 2.5" SSD HDD 1TB).. Both bought through Amazon. In the process (through my own fault) I ended up having to reinstall Windows 11. I bring all this up because in both cases I had to email Beelink a picture of the S/N in order to get the 2 emails (as discussed in the video). Personally, I am sold on Beelink products because of their technical support as far as quickness in replying and their knowledge of their own products and answering "what if" questions. I currently am using a a Beelink SER5 as my primary desktop at home (I am going to take my old ASUS AM3 motherboard form my 'old desktop' monster, and I am going to build out a NAS for around $255 in initial parts, and adding additional HDD later as I have more money. I have personally been very pleased with Beelink for the money, the product and the service adter sale.
