Excellent talk. Gave a lot of insight about voting patterns in economies that have suffered authoritarian regimes. I’m from Latin America and you do see these pattern of voting for anti growth governments.

I can tell you having watched my own children interacting with AI apps, that young people find AI generally a lot of fun. They don't appear to be threatened by it, rather they embrace it as a new field of exploration that has opened up for them and broadened their horizons.

Does it matter that I get automated out of my job if I and my family still get our needs provided for? If robot farmers still do the farming and robot factories still do the processing and robots deliver what I order online, without even having to pay for it?

Why interrupt so often and challenge the guest? It breaks the narrative.

Great conversation, thank you. Being from Eastern Poland, I see the differences in political and personal thinking from other parts of the country. Quite fascinating.

I watched Tucker Carlson's interview, and while I can excuse not throwing hardball questions at Putin during an interview in Russia, I cannot excuse the obvious propaganda campaign Carlson went on afterwards, the grocery store video being the most egregious. Of course a dollar is going to go further in Russia because each one is worth 94 rubles. Tucker knows this, but he chose to run with that narrative anyway.

Sergei makes very good point about how economic development is very dependent on the set of believes/government structures. He is spot on about Poland as the case study - the part of Poland that was under German administration in 19th century is the most economically vibrant to this day, while the eastern part of Poland which was under Russian rule tends to be significantly behind. The gap has been finally closing over the last few years. I wonder how much it has to do with religion as well? Protestants, especially Calvinists, emphasize personal responsibility for shaping your own live, versus many other religions/ cultures demphasize individualism. In the late 80's I've worked with many refugees from Russia in Maine. Many people who arrived from Soviet Union expected to get a free apartment, a new car, and be assigned a job. It was very hard for them to understand that they had to take their own initiative to get those things.

Please host Saifedean Ammous instead of Brian Armstrong who is captured by the fact he is the CEO of a public company. He's obviously lying about the fact that the 10% of cryptocurrencies Coinbase approved are commodities and not securities. He sounds like a politician trying not to appear too radical.
