SO OK I did it! I completed my first real PCB for my model trains. I did have to get help. The tools all work but the simplest things do not work like other graphics editing tools. Moving labels threw me for a loop for hours. There is no visual feedback that your cursor has captured a text and that you can now drag and rotate it the text. the text changes color but you don't really see where it's now controllable. Final I just tried to move it and it moved!!!! Yeah! then i added mounting holes and the company name click, click click. done. Changed the color to red, and did a visual review of track routes by highlighting a pin to see the track path from that pin. I could see Pin one of each device and had to memorize the pin orientation. But i was able to validate every track to every pin. OK lets order these boards. One thing I lost track of was the required footprint for the PCB. In fitting inside a steam engine, it is crowded and I failed to actually layout the frame to the real space available. But I just wanted to get the board made and tested them rework the format as needed to fit the best. I was surprised to get a discount and shipping was not overly outrageous. DHL has always been a superb delivery service. My boards will be here in a week and I will be ready with parts and test stands to try them out. This one lecture here IS the critical one to get and I took it 3 times. I even slowed it down to 75% speed so i could take notes and get all the tips and tricks. I wanted to get to this one so bad. The videos ahead were actually beyond my needs currently. Using The Library's i was able to find every part and get the footprint and specs for BOM it all worked with me to help document the whole PCB. Now i have detail docs and a Completed PCB for a brand new feature for my model train steam engines. I also began to imagine other functions I could design and make PCBs for. The design of boards Plus the CAD and 3D Printer combined has allowed me to dream about making my very own model train from scratch. Chassis, Body, Controllers and action functions. Both on train cars mobile and on the layout fixed. THe easy EDA tool set is very strong. It did take a few trials to understand the nuances of control and graphics editing, but it was fine. I expect to get better real fast as start to replace expensive commercial PCBs with my own custom designs. I feel so strong and confident I can build anything I can dream up too. Dennis in Virginia

how do you make the parts snap to the grid ???

Been trying this out and I like it so far but when it comes to drawing a trace there can be much improved upon. If I start on the top layer and then want to place a via to switch to the bottom side it should just be a double click to place the via and automatically switch to the bottom layer so I can keep going. Also, Why is there no shortcut list for via sizes like there is for traces?
