Have to say, you're getting better and better with that lathe with each video. And considering how long you've had it, from an outside perspective, that's impressive.

Even though there's no visibly added physical resistance, just because the light is shooting photons and removing energy from the system, it makes the fan spin noticeably slower. I love that you added that to the video. It illustrates a really important physical phenomenon.

I love seeing these videos where you buy a stirling engine and see how you can improve it, not only can I see how it runs but your ideas of improvement make the video worth watching to the end. Keep up the good work!

Any idea where I could find a non-toy stirling engine? I would like them for solar power for 2 reasons: 1. with 2 stirling engines, one can be run in reverse (be given motion/torque instead of heat difference) in order to move heat and thus useful for cooling or heating different places as needed. Something generating from a few Wh to a few kWh per hour would be nice. 2. it produces mechanical energy which can be then converted to electricity if needed or used as-is for things like a circular saw, or the pump(s) and fan(s) needed to optimize the whole setup. Especially since the direct mechanical energy can be used for things like pumping the water through the pipes and through the hot part of the stirling engine and fans can funnel air to cool the cool part of the engine and the excess can be used for what's necessary (i.e. circular saw, water pumping, electricity, aerial ropeways, endless rope drivers for moving kinetical energy over long distances, etc.).

how much actual thrust does this thing have? I'd love to see one of these in a model RC.

How do you keep it lubricated?!? I'd imagine that piece in the middle (that all the pistons are pivoting) would get torqued and hot???
