I KNOW I AM NOT A PROFESSIONAL, but I did have my stepdad (who has flipped houses for 33 years) look over my work to assure that I did everything properly. Please don't hate on me too much :) I know its not perfect!!
Like, subscribe, and comment if YOU think I should make a video explaining the process/showing HOW I built this!?
Dudes, seriously.. you can accomplish ANYTHING that you set your mind to. I did this entire project for under $8,000! In the beginning, this was only a stupid dream that 15 year old me wanted to do. Now I'm living in it, inspiring others through it, AND going to nursing school! Let absolutely NO ONE get in your way.

OMG Matt! I'm a retired Construction General Contractor and I've worked mostly in the building trades since I was 15 yrs old. I'm now 75 and still building stuff because it's in my blood and my hands cannot live without tools in them! I am so awed by your innovation, designing, of course perspiration, and sticking with your dream until the finish of it! Now, here you are, living your dream, furthering it through higher education. I know your heart is for others and I know you will exceed in EVERYTHING you desire. You, young sir, are an incredible person. We need more like you for our future. There are so many young adults that do NOT want to work with their hands. There are those who will never - and there are possibly a few, like you, who will see their dreams and accomplishments develop every day. Seeing one's accomplishments visually, physically every day has to be one of the most gratifying of experiences in one's life! Bravo Matt! You are one of so very true heroes that is so positive for our future. May all your dreams come true!

Such a profound statement at the end of the video: "I've been chasing my dream for two years, now I'm living in it." Matt wakes up everyday in the physical manifestation of his resilience and tenacity. As for the family, educators and friends who doubted and discouraged him. It is one thing to accept complacency and mediocrity in your own life but to sow the seeds of it in another's life is shameful and malicious.

Tony Williams II You’ve got this man! Dream it, visualize what you want to accomplish and then determine to get it done. Like this young man, don’t listen to the nay sayers! If money is an issue don’t let that stand in your way. It’s amazing how many good things get thrown away so like this young man don’t be afraid to do some dumpster diving. What you will also begin to realize is once you’ve set your mind to do it you’ll begin to see opportunities to get it accomplished that you just didn’t see before. Keep your goal at the front of your mind and maybe most importantly, write your goals down and review them often. It may sound odd, but it works! All the best!

I recommend that route, too. Nursing is not as fulfilling as people make it out to be and it's soul-sucking. It's a job that should be motivated as a prerequisite as a person of society like some countries and their mandatory military enrollments. This is a job where you can work your ass off or do nothing and still be exhausted by the end of the shift. It definitely wears down your health in the long-run in a short amount of time.

@@denisehaley9271 Yes Karen, I watched the whole video. I honestly don't know what you're getting at with the "projecting" comment and I also find your use of all-caps to be quite annoying. Sure, he built it on his own and work jobs to pay for it. But to do it while he still most likely lived with family who continued to supply his living necessities (allowing him to use all of his earned money on this specific project) and his family conveniently having land that he could put it on placed him in an opportune position where it could easily be accomplished by anyone with the desire to do so. But most people are not in his position. WHY is that so HARD for YOU to Understand?!?!

@Drybones2015
@Drybones2015 3 роки тому
@@denisehaley9271 Give him credit? Re-read my reply and you might find that I did. It's pretty clear that you have no understanding of the challenges the greed of older generations have put on newer ones. Its not a lack of determination or willful independents, it the lack of opportunities to do so. There's something wrong with the way our society operates if the only viable option for young adults outside of years of mortgage and crippling debt is living in a shed on wheels. And don't give me that "lazy people should just work their ass off" crap. That's not how the real world works Karen. Having the odds stacked against you by design =/= being lazy. Out of all my favorite tiny houses (i've got quite a watchlist), this is probably top 5 even amongst the 250k builds. The overall cost is incredible, and you get major points for that and all the DIY, but even with all that aside, you clearly put a lot of thought into this build and the layout itself is very attractive. It's clear that it's suited more for a single college guy and through that critical lens this is pretty astounding. From the bedroom to the bathroom there's not a single design choice I disagree with, even the loft can be a very adaptable space. The only complaint I have is i wanted more of the back yard. Looks ultra chill-able. Congrats on building this! You're living so many of our dreams.

Don't get me wrong. Many don't have any aspirations of doing this...or the drive to push thru what was clearly an arduous and detailed task... But many more don't have the opportunity, even if they wanted to. Good for this kid. We need programs in place to help kids learn HOW to work with their hands. I had to push myself to do it...but many won't. Many simply think its below (too good) or above them (they aren't skilled enough). Man, I wish I had fam with land. I wish I had an out of state tuition paid for for me to even consider doin something like this. Not taking away from this kid at all. Hes clearly a monster. Im just making the point we should make changes in our society to allow for and ENCOURAGE MORE of this. My 2c. Thats a sick build btw. Especially at 16. Matt, we’re all on a journey, but few know where their going. Let alone WHY they’re here, and WHAT their purpose is in life. It took “ gut level courage” to strike out on your own at your age, and pursue the dream that was inside you. I found this video, like most, just “quick scrolling “ on UKposts. To see that you accomplished all this on your own, is “ incredible “. Do you know that you have achieved the American Dream , and you’re not even 20 yet? I highly applaud you and your efforts. I also noted on another of your videos that you’re a Christian-( like me). So, all the better that you’re aware that angels both protect and guide you along the way. Looking forward to seeing more of your journey. Keep posting. Blessings on you.

Just a kid having the beliefs and dreams that little kids have. And now, he's a young man who has achieved so much, has a true philosophy on life, and is going for it. But that's just me seeing the glass half full... Be well Joanne Sgrignoli.

Gordon's comment was a response to something I said, and it appears to be a comparison between Matt's faith as a Christian today and his belief in Santa Claus 10 years ago. RESPECT! Beautiful tiny home! I just finished my house, not a tiny house but pretty small it has 2 floors and in total 64m2 which is 689 sqft. I've built it also by myself with help of my Dad. Took me 10 months and was working a full time job with only nightshifts. Was one of the hardest time of my life, but every second worth! Also to me many said that I will not finish it, or hiw can I possibly think to build my own house?! Now living in it with my wife for already 6 months and we love it! I wish you a lots of happiness with your OWN little tiny house! You worked hard, you deserve it!

@@earthbound2772 I suggest, with all due respect and sincerity, that you research the subject, as this is an important decision. If you're wrong, there are eternal consequences; if you're right you now have solid investigative information and no harm done. I recommend the movie "The Case for Christ," the true story of Lee Strobel, an award winning investigative journalist for the Chicago Tribune. He & his wife were Atheists. Something happened & his wife became a born again Christian. He was pissed. So he put his skills to work & used his myriad of contacts to interview top theologians & others. He set up an office in a rented storage space, so his wife wouldn't know what he was doing. For me, it was a walk down memory lane. It took place in the 70s, so he had long hair & drove a very cool car, a GTO I think. Intellectually, I research everything before coming to a conclusion. I'm not a blind follower. You're worth the effort, don't you think? Don't just watch the movie. Go to a Bible based church (non-denominational is my choice); investigate with an open mind. Talk to the pastor; join a Bible study, ask questions. Think of it as higher learning. Then make a decision based on what you've learned. You ARE worth it. If you want to ask me anything, please feel free. I'm straightforward & honest. I'd be happy to give you my email. Here's a good place to start. This is from a great website where you can ask questions. This question is "Is there a conclusive argument for the existence of God?" www.gotquestions.org/argument-existence-God.html P.S. I became a born again Christian at 14, but believed in God since age 3. My mom was very smart and had taught Sunday School as a teenager. I strayed for a few years but came back. Even so, it was a few years before I learned that "It's Not About Religion, It's About a Relationship." I'm praying for you.

You have an admirable force of will, to follow and make your dreams a reality. Your tiny home looks well built and nicely styled. I'm glad you had the land to put it on. What is more amazing to me, is that you're going to school to be a nurse. It's a difficult and often times tiring field. You will always see people at their worst and some will have the worst behavior at the forefront. While there's never a good excuse to treat anyone badly, just remind yourself that every patient will respond to pain/illness differently, but you will always have to treat EVERY patient the same. That is to say, EVERY patient will need high-quality care, kindness, compassion and empathy. Don't forget to take time to unwind and recharge to avoid burnout. Remember self-care! You are an amazing young man going into a field that desperately needs you, your ability to empathize and your skills to keep people healthy. Outstanding job!
