So glad you finally recommended Hardcore Henry... I own 1000s of films, mostly horror/thriller, and it's been one of my favourite films for several years. So original and Sharlto Copley became one of my favourite actors whilst watching it.

I LOVED The Guest! It really felt like an 80s drive-in movie. As soon as I have a chance, I plan on checking out Uncut Gems.

Gotta thank you for your recommendations for The Guest and The Outpost. Saw the former a couple of months ago and it was so fun and being a fan of Dan Stevens's work in Legion made me enjoy it that much more that I am also recommending the film to others and last night saw the latter and was blown away by that film. Really respectful, impactful, and the last 45 minutes and the end credits were extremely well done and recommend it too. Keep up the great work!

I have actually watched most of these movies (some at your recommendation) and you are spot on. Polar and uncut gems stand out the most for me. Uncut gems was definitely unexpected. it played out and felt much different than it was marketed for me.

I saw The Town in the theater and yes I can vouch for Darren, it's underrated and this is coming from someone who normally doesn't really go for heist movies. Here's one, Double World. It a fantasy martial arts movie described as "teen", don't let that fool you. Some great action, beautiful shots and brutal murders.

THIS IS A GREAT LIST…THANK YOU!! I haven’t seen 4 of them and based on this list I will definitely be checking out, The Night Comes for Us, The Guest, Toro, and Super Dark Times. Having said that....a few more things about some of these films: • Polar - If you love the John Wick franchise you will love Polar. Mads Mikkelsen is a seriously underappreciated actor, the movies he chooses and the roles he plays have been good in almost every single movie I've seen him in! As well as Hannibal Lecter on the show Hannibal. • The Impossible - this movie blew me away when I first saw it it was very gut wrenching and emotional, and really what stood out to me was the performance of a young Tom Holland. I was not surprised to see him picked for Spiderman and to see some of the movies he's been in recently and the roles he's played including The Devil All the Time on Netflix. With the Uncharted movie and Chaos Walking coming out, Tom Holland is on the verge of being one of the biggest stars in the country. • The Outpost - I couldn't agree more with this pic as this movie was good enough to been released in any theater and in my opinion, was almost as good as the Hurt Locker in the way it makes you feel the reality of war. I highly recommend it and the performances are great including Clint Eastwood’s son Scott Eastwood. Could this be his ticket to being a big star like his dad we will see! • Midnight special - definitely the 2nd best acted movie on this list (uncut gems is 1st) Michael Shannon is great. I compare this movie to the movie star man, just taken to the next level! • Uncut Gems - What a great film. Adam Sandler is amazing in this movie in going along the ride for this character's decline to his inevitable ending is awesome. Lakeith Stanfield is awesome as well as Eric Bogosian, and surprisingly enough Kevin Garnett Is not that bad as an actor!

Hey love the choices. Have you seen 'The Platform'? I think it's an Italian film, slow paced but quite good and can grip your interest if you have a little patience

"Uncut Gems" is great. Sandler has done well with dramatic roles.

Soundtrack for Polar was awesome too! Was Joel Zimmerman's (aka; deadmau5) first film score, and he nailed it!

Former digital artist/3D geek, here. "Beowolf" rocks. I think this would be watershed moment when digital mocap and high-end, photorealistic rendering came together beautifully. I've seen it a few times. Good flick/Well done! Great recommendation!

Agree strongly with your very positive review of Uncut Gems..... Gritty, flavorful, uncomfortable, raw, and brilliant. I had kinda washed my hands of Adam Sandler....this movie put him back in play for me. The way it rips the filters off of some of our various cultural contrasts and interactions, giving back more dimension and texture...was intense and refreshing. Hellz yeah.

Beowulf was a visual feast, and incredibly epic story-telling. Ninja Assassin was a feast on sooo many levels! I've re-watched Ninja Assassin twice a year, every year since it came out.

Hey Darren, actually the origin for the "Balls to the Walls" phrase is the governor or speed control for steam engines which had a rotating device with a pair of weighted steel balls that centrifugal force made swing out to near vertical and toward the walls at top speed. Thus, Max Speed was when the Balls (were all out) to the Walls. Great Movie List, thanks.

The Outpost is a genuine tear jerker.

Coincidentally had just watched MIdnight Special before seeing your video. I'm not a huge science fiction fan, the trailer didn't draw me in, and just wasn't expecting much, but watched it because Michael Shannon is one of my favorite actors. He's terrific in this! Joel Edgerton, Kirsten Dunst, and Adam Driver are all great and a compelling drama. Loved it!

I did enjoy Polar, very gritty and violent; Project Power was amazing, it could definitely be expanded into a series; Hardcore Henry is probably the most hilarious weird/awesome Sharlto Copley movie out there...FPS gaming as a movie is just bizarre, but it works.

Great list. I have to agree with you on The Night Comes For Us, probably one of the best action/horror/martial art movies I've ever seen. Fight scenes in this movie last for 20-25 minutes, which is amazing. I'm huge Adam Sandler fan, but I actually like Good time better than Uncut Gems.

Shot Caller is so gritty and raw. That final showdown scene between him and the Beast is awesome!

The Invitation is a pretty solid flick. Give it a watch.

WOW ! Great hidden gems upload . The Outpost actually got a theatrical release in Australia , so you're right punching above it's weight for sure . However the cast really made this for me , seasoned actors with some up and comers and the first time I've seen Mel Gibsons son Milo who held his own throughout . Thoroughly enjoyed it .
