Fun fact from The Hollow Point. The actor in the clips you used that is fighting Ian McShane is one of the four brothers in massively underrated Punch Drunk Love ... Nathan Stevens. Also in this movie is David Stevens. Also one of the four brother from PDL. Who also happen to be actual brothers in real life.

Since my hearing is going south I began watching all films with subtitles. I was missing half the dialog. For me this has opened up a entire world of cinema I was missing.

I have had the same issue for some years now. and it truly makes a difference for me as well. I'd especially agree with issues with English accents, and I had a girlfriend who was English. I think she eventually found my "say that again" a little tedious ;-)

I always watch with subtitles even though my hearing is fine. It's kind of a strange thing but it allows u to just focus on the visuals more. You're not wasting any brain power trying to figure out unclear or muffled lines and watching the movie becomes more enjoyable

I couldn't agree more. If I were paying for Prime only because of the movies, I'd give it up. It doesn't seem they have any methodology for rating movies or even suggesting them on your behalf. I'm not sure what their rubric is, but it sucks moose.

I've been doing 20 recs on my FB recently with brief descriptions. I've done Netflix and Hulu. Just did Prime and with it and Hulu, I tried to do more exclusives. There are at least 9 movies on this list that the "official" "everything coming to Prime this month" publishings left off (and I check those and keep lists every month). Yeah, that's how good DVD is with his lists and that is why I love his channel! So excited Murder Party and Bubba Ho-Tep are back on streaming because I streaming because I will watch those every time they are available. Definitely sold me on Turbo Kid, The Signal, The Nines, and Head Hunters and they are going on my list.

So many compelling choices! Compliance and These final hours are jaw dropping in highly alternate ways! Recall enjoying Eagle eye ,Hard Rain and Nick of Time...but think it's Time for a re watch! Started Bad Samaritan but had a mini anxiety attack and had to break..but will complete once I don my big girl pants . I pretty much want to watch everything else on the list....so great job on this one Darren!

I see the 'Warlock' movies are on Prime now. They were great fun back in the day. Showing their age, of course. Also recommend checking out 'A Midnight Clear' for another early '90s film that a lot of people forgot about. WW2 movie with a lot of character drama. Also on Prime.

Also recommend "SFW" (1995) currently on Prime. About a teen slacker (Stephen Dorff) who gets held hostage in a convenient store by terrorists for a couple weeks, with some others, while being filmed by their captors. Largely focuses on the aftermath and the screwed up things the news media frenzy causes. The characters are engrossing with some nutty situations; an unusual and underrated flick.

Headhunters is great. It's based on the book by Norwegian thriller giant Jo Nesbo. Although These Final Hours is not amazing it has been one of the few films that has stayed with me, so maybe it's sneakily great? Also Senna is a great tip, it's thourougly engrossing and I could not care less about Formula 1 racing. It's not just about that but also about what Senna meant for the sport and for his beloved native country of Brasil. Another great list Darren, thanks!

Interesting fact about The Signal, it was an experimental film that was passed onto 3 directors to do with what they wished. Each director would have the freedom to create a part of the movie, and this would then be edited and given to the next director for the following installment. This is why the film is very peculiar, and if you watch carefully you can see how the film takes a different direction during its course. Unusual method but worked well.

'Fire in the Sky', Darren. It's dated, but it's brilliant! A young Robert Patrick, James Garner, and others whose names I don't know but who you will undoubtedly reckonize, knock this sci-fi thriller out of the park. A younger friend turned me on to it when you had to rent it, but now it's free and it will blow you away. Cheers!

Like given as always. Great list. One thought: I don't mind renting movies on Amazon or whatever. If you're ever struggling for ideas for movie lists, I, for one, would love to see a definitive list that doesn't necessarily have to be free or a list that encompasses multiple platforms. For example: "Top # Indie Sci-Fi: 1. The Frame (Amazon)" or "Top # movies like the Breakfast Club: 1. Melvin Goes to Dinner (Netflix)" or "Top # Music Movies: 1. Rudderless (Rent on Amazon)", or "Top # Time Loop Movies: 1. Palm Springs (Hulu)" etc etc. Just a thought, because I'm sure you're trying to not overlap, while also trying to avoid recommending crappy movies.

Always enjoy your list videos, thank you! If you don't mind an opinion, the new backdrop is a big step down from your old, brick wall backdrop. You can barely see any of it, and a full third of it is just a dark curtain, an aesthetic that screams 'converted bedroom'! The "FS" would be cool if it had something besides the edge lighting on it.

Saw Headhunters last weekend - really good. Also would recommend Senna, Bad Samaritan, the Informer, the Nines if you like trippy movies. Added a few to my list. Thank you!
